Rubio Long Snapping Family….UNITE!!!!

A while back I wrote about Rubio Long Snapper Scott Shockley and his battle with cancer. Shockley is a Long Snapper that graduated in 2012 and is currently in college at the University of Auburn. In high school, he was a three sport athlete who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma (bone cancer) in his right femur in May 2011.

He has had his ups and downs, but seems to be having some pretty tough times right now (as you will be able to note below) and I want to lift his spirits.

Here is what I want you guys to do, I want you to bombard Scott with good vibes to his Twitter account HERE or on Facebook HERE. Sometimes a simple little note to someone can be a big deal. GAME ON!!!!

  7. God doesn't present any challenges to you that you can't handle or He won't bring you through. Pray for strength to fight. The same fight that got you to Auburn will lead you through. My sons are snappers and we will all keep you in our prayers.

Rubio, you are so amazing. We'll start posting messages for him right away. The Rubio family will always embrace!

  9. Will do, I will also keep in my prayers and get him added to all the prayer chains I know of. Thanks for keeping us real.

  10. Scott, every super hero has a wing man. You have Rubio, Team Rubio, and the entire Rubio Long Snapping family standing with you during this challenge. As a combat veteran, there were many days while deployed, I needed a hug or a strong grip on the shoulder just to tell me it was OK or that I was not alone. There were many tough and challenging days endured. I trusted my brothers or wingmen to get through the tough times and we all did. One of my favorite quotes from the movie Rocky Balboa: "Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place, and I don’t care how tough you are, it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard you hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward; how much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! " Scott, your family and wingmen are here to support you, you are not alone. From the "Big State of Texas", we send you a Big Lone Star hug, a man sized squeeze on the shoulder, and as Rubio would say… A Full Embrace. Best wishes and prayers from your Texas wingmen.

  11. Ms Nancy, I could not agree more!!!

  12. Scott, we are praying for you to have strength and peace during this journey. Don't let the "c" word define you. I know it is not always easy but you can overcome. Keep pressing forward! ( A long snapper Mom and 1 year survivor)

HI, Scott, This sign ( as my photo) is a way for me to poke fun at a near death experience. (My son is also a long snapper-class of 2014). Anyway… last August I was hiking in colorado and the trail slid off the mountain and I somersaulted over a 40 ft cliff, landing in 3 1/2 feet of water at the edge of water fall. I was face down in the water with over 20 broken bones and being sucked by the current to water fall. I was drowning and about to go over the falls when a teenager just happened to be walking down the stream and grabbed me by the hair before I went over the falls and just as I was on my last breath. I should be dead, brain damaged, or paralyzed, but God saved me. After months in the hospital, surgeries, wheelchairs, walkers, physical therapy, I can now walk with a cane. Put your faith in God. He can work miracles, I am living proof.

  14. Amazing to always think of Scott. You two are an incredible match for each other. Scott is such an inspiration and we are honored to have known him for so long. Thanks for always being an inspiration yourself, Rubio!
