Starting this spring, all Rubio Long Snapping camps will feature a shortened version of the VEGAS testing format. Once the Long Snapper has completed the test, they earn an RSI which is the fairest and most accurate way to judge a Long Snapper by numbers. Once you register, for a Rubio Long Snapping camp, a full, detailed explanation will be in your confirmation email.

Each Long Snapper will now be tested on The Rubio Long Snapping Target with one snap per section instead of three. Meaning, you get one regular snap, one block left, one block right, and one speed for both punt snaps and short snaps to total eight snaps. Therefore, at the end of testing, the RSI will be tripled to reveal the participants’ RSI for that particular camp. Trust me, I do get that a Regional Camp RSI will not be the exact same as a VEGAS Event RSI for several reasons (length of test, pressure of Vegas, etc.) but it will pretty darn close and definitely fair.

The RSI is an excellent way for a participant to truly show how good of a Long Snapper they are as it balances the accuracy along with the speed of the ball, plus it will show how well the Long Snapper grows through each and every Rubio Long Snapping camp. Also, the RSI‘s will be posted on each Long Snappers profile after every camp they attend.  Please note: the RSI does not account for athleticism, spiral or mentality.

RSI‘s can range from zero to basically 80 (if a Long Snapper was to get a score 48 points and averaged .65 on their punt snaps). I believe the highest I have ever encountered a 60.61 by Kasey Kelleher at VEGAS XXIX. The 12 finalists at VEGAS XXIX all had above 50’s on their RSI and that was a record. A 30 is usually pretty darn solid.

Please Note: The RSI is not completely how your Rubio Long Snapping ranking will be calculated as there are many factors to being a great Long Snapper. The main things that each Long Snapper will be ranked on are the following:

  • Speed (should be less than .75 for a 15 yard punt snap)
  • Accuracy (all snaps should be in The Rubio Zone)
  • Consistency (a college coach is going to want to see how consistent you are with your speed…if you can snap a .75, your snaps should be right around there, well, consistently)
  • Mentality (how well do you handle pressure)
  • Athleticism (do you move well or does it look like you are in pain when moving)
  • Size (an ideal Long Snapper would be about 6’3″ and 235)
  • Spiral (does the ball look pretty, slice through the wind and easy to catch)
  • Blocking (will you be able to withstand a major college rush) If you have ever been to a Rubio Long Snapping Vegas Event, you know that one of the main parts of competition day is when each Long Snapper gets tested on The Rubio Long Snapping Target.

Recap of the TX Spring Camp (3/26/17)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to TX on March 26th, 2017 for their spring camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling the country this spring instructing Long Snappers and getting them all ready for the 2nd biggest event of the year (the largest is our January Vegas Event), VEGAS 30!

The next stop for Rubio Long Snapping will be Arizona and New Jersey on April 9th, April 23 in Illinois and April 30th in Georgia.

This was the fourth Rubio Long Snapping regional camp that featured the RSI Testing to track a Long Snappers progress throughout the year and it was an overwhelming success. You can find out more about this new format HERE and the RSI’s from this actual camp already posted HERE

Champion Dillon Hayes

Long Snappers from TX, AR, OK, LA, CT, ID, IL, MS, KS all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall camp champion was Dillon Hayes! Dillon is coming off several days of private lessons in Idaho and you can tell it definitely paid off. He was smooth, accurate, VERY consistent and handles pressure like, well, a champion. This is his second victory in a row as Dillon also was crowned the champion of VEGAS XXIX!  His victory earned him a free admission to VEGAS 30 on May 13-14!

You can see the full finals (Jax Wilson, Karsten Battles, Dillon Hayes, Jake Pagel, Trevor Fleming, Chris Clore) below ….

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS

Jake Pagel

Jake Pagel left no doubt he is just a flat out stud when snapping the ball. His hands are some of the quickest I have seen and it shows with the speed of his ball as it is rarely above .75. He will do great at Texas A&M.

Drew Wise was on fire throughout the day as he prepares to head to Missouri in the summer. Body is big and he throws a ton of heat on the ball. Love the direction he is headed and he is always improving.

Noah Caldwell looked very solid. Body is thicker and he was snapping with good power. Form is good and his hands are like rockets.

Caleb Cantrell is headed to Wyoming and he left no doubt he can succeed there with his quick hands and great form. Love his attitude.

Chris Clore is a large Long Snapper with tons of intelligence and great form. When he is reaching back all the way and snapping hard, there are few that are better.

Trevor Fleming made it to the finals and got at the right time. Good form and I like his attitude. Moved well on his feet and handles pressure well. Well done to Grambling State getting Trevor.

Notables: Pierce Warn, Andrew Morrison, Dillon Hall

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS

Karsten Battles

Karsten Battles had a great day in TX. He is big, powerful and snaps a great ball back to the punter. Almost ended up winning the whole thing and I don’t think it will be long until he claims a championship of his own. Lots of upside and he just keeps getting better.

Zach Edwards is one of the smoothest and most consistent Long Snappers in his class. Major athlete and he just keeps getting better. Hands are rockets and the ball is at college level speed right now!

John Raines was throwing incredible heat all day in TX. Form is good and he is using his whole body really well. Love his improvement and if he can get his spiral locked down at VEGAS 30 in May, he could easily be a TOP 12 Camp member.

Evan Gibson continues to improve and impress me. Moving well on his feet and snapping with confidence. The harder he snaps, the better he does. Great attitude and upside.

Tre Rubio had a great camp and has done an incredible job of improving over the years. Ball is VERY smooth  and extremely catchable. Tight spiral and his form is almost perfect.

Jax Wilson had the highest RSI score of the camp and is absolutely dripping with potential. MASSIVE human being that could easily find himself on a college roster for Long Snapping if he focuses on his form and being more consistent. Incredible talent.

Cole Voyles is long, lean and dripping with potential. I love the upside on this kid from TX. Keep a very close eye on him at VEGAS 30.

Tyler Springer threw some great snaps throughout the day and was always snapping sub .75. He definitely has the ability to snap at the next level and can be a TOP 12 member with some more accuracy.

Turner Pallisard is a strong Long Snapper that practically looks like a college tight end right now. Potential is off the charts and his consistency will be the thing that makes or breaks him at VEGAS 30.

Notables: Brayden Adams, Grayson Broussard, Jack Fisher, Justin Hutyra, Ryan Rey, Chris Stoneking,

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Hayden Hood

Hayden Hood was exceptional all day in TX. His snaps were absolutely screaming back to the punter and the kid moves well on his feet. Smoothing out his snapping motion will help in the long run but he is already on his way to greatness.

Luke Rizzo is coming along very nicely. He is thick and strong with quick hands. he can really whip the ball back to the punter. His snaps are consistently in the .7s and just getting faster. Great upside on Rizzo.

Samuel Wiesbrook has a lot of potential on his very long body. Has a frame that could easily put on 50 lbs over the next couple of years. His snaps are quick and he has tons of upside.

Braedy Wilson showed me some great movement on his feet and consistent snaps. Putting on some size will be huge for him as we get ready for VEGAS 30 and beyond.

Jay Dempsey has a nice frame, quick hands and moves well on his feet. Athletic with tons of potential.

Landon Sleeper has good form, a powerful body and a good attitude. Hard worker that will make a college coach happy in the long run

Notables: John Farris, Nate McCormack, David Medrano, Max Murry, Chad Wolf

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS AND BEYOND…

Blake Hooker

Blake Hooker looked VERY solid in TX. He was snapping with confidence and his ball was zipping back to the punter. Never even saw him snap a ball above .80 all day. Great day for Hooker.

Eli Chism looks like he has grown a foot and put on some good weight. Definitely paying off with his snapping as this was the best I have seen him do at a camp. Great upside.

Oden Pierce is a 2021 Long Snapper with good length and lots of upside. Impressive throughout the day.

Haydon Wiginton continues to impress  me. He will be as good as he wants to be with his Long Snapping.

Phillip Bourque has good form, a great attitude and a thick body. He is always improving.

Notables: JT Sleeper, Johnny Bergeron, Zach Chlore, Jake Foggia, Coltin Knape, Alec Eckert, Jackson McFarland, Jake Eldridge, Thad Baker

KEY POINTS:
* My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target and will always be announced when they are completed on social media (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.)
* My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
* My rankings ARE done by me and my several select members of my senior staff. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)
* My rankings are based off of THIS blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
* If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
* All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.
