Recap the NJ Spring Camp (4/9/17)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to NJ on April 9th, 2017 for their spring camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling the country this spring instructing Long Snappers and getting them all ready for the 2nd biggest event of the year (the largest is our January Vegas Event), VEGAS 30!

The next stop for Rubio Long Snapping will be Chicago on April 23rd.

This was the sixth Rubio Long Snapping regional camp that featured the RSI Testing to track a Long Snappers progress throughout the year and it was an overwhelming success. You can find out more about this new format HERE and the RSI’s from this actual camp already posted HERE

Long Snappers from NY, NJ, MD, VA, MA, PA, CT, OH, and NC all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

Senior Staff Member Corey Adams with Champion Corbin Robertson

The overall camp champion was Corbin Robertson (2018)! Corbin is incredibly smooth and his catchability is off the charts. He was the most accurate snapper of the camp, hitting 5 consecutive 3s on the target to go from 6th seed to camp champion! He was unflappable in the finals and handled the pressure very well. His victory earned him a free admission to VEGAS 30 on May 13-14!

The finals included Kevin Crabtree, Billy Taylor, Rino Monteforte, Jack Hadley, Jude Pedrozo and Corbin Robertson

Billy Taylor

Billy Taylor was dominant all day in NJ. His combination of speed (he was the speed champion of the camp!) and accuracy is top notch and Rutgers is lucky to have him on their team next year. His ball comes out so fast and in such a tight spiral, it looks like it is fired out of a jugs machine. He continues to develop physically and looks like he can step onto college field and play today.

Kevin Crabtree is a massive human being and was throwing heat all day. He went head to head with Billy in the speed finals, and was barely edged out. He moves very well for his size and his accuracy was consistently solid all day.

Mario McIntyre (JC) really impressed with his speed and physical ability. A lot of punters were caught off guard by his snaps as they pop out of his hands so quickly. Very solid long snapper, one of the most athletic people at the camp as well.

Jack Hadley

Jack Hadley has everything you look for in a top long snapper: size, power, accuracy, athleticism. VERY large man who moves incredibly well. His form and flexibility is incredible for a person of his size. Ball comes out so effortlessly and just cuts through the air. Expect big things out of him in the future

Jon Jarrett really surprised at this camp. Was firing bullets back all day and was soaking up all the instruction and film work like a sponge. Very eager long snapper who will apply everything he learned and take the next step to being great.

Corbin Robertson obviously stood out as the camp champion, but even before then he was competing a high level. His ball is silky smooth and accurate; you could almost catch it with your eyes closed. Big kid who continues to improve at every camp. Excited to see him compete at Vegas 30!

Matt Aloni is a very technically sound long snapper who performed great all camp. Has great size and showed consistent accuracy all day. His form is something you can use as a video example for younger snappers. Very attentive all camp and will continue to improve like he has in the past!

Brian Richards had a great day and improved through it all. He has a very athletic build and can be a factor in coverage and blocking. With some work he can really climb the ranks.

Matt Gannon showed great accuracy all day. His form improved consistently after the film review in the afternoon. Great footwork in blocking, and crushed the agility portion of the camp.

Notables: Josh Windsor, Joseph O’Rourke, Robbie Wiley, Joseph Crima

Jude Pedrozo

Jude Pedrozo was locked in all day with his speed and accuracy. Very athletic underclassman who has tons of confidence to go with his ability. Already competing at a high level for his age, time will only tell how amazing he can potentially be.

Drew Brenowitz showed tons of power all day. He snaps the ball so hard that he was missing high. Once he grasped the concept that is ball is climbing the whole way to the punter and to adjust his release point a little earlier, he was deadly accurate. Tons of potential.

Ryan Flowers is a big kid who very rarely misses. His accuracy was impressive all day and he really took in all the coaching through the day. A couple tweaks to get his speed down and he will be a dangerous snapper to look out for.

Evan Davis has tons of potential. Physically gifted and is very athletic for his size. Accuracy was spot on all day. Once he tightens up his spiral he will be one to keep an eye on.

Dom Serapigilia is a snapper who continues to improve every time I see him. His form for his size is incredible, and his consistency is directly correlated to it. He is a great kid who is un-rattled by any situation you put him in. Speed will continue to develop and he will start to become dominant.

Ryan Sullivan snaps such a smooth ball it looks effortless on the field. He has tons of potential once he starts to snap hard and focus on his speed. Excited to see him develop.

John Morton is a very big underclassman who has his accuracy down. Once he starts to use his big body and put some power behind the snap he will jump the rankings quickly.

Notables: Stephen Sokach-Minnick, Matt Blount, Joseph Shimko, Holden Ford

Rino Monteforte

Rino Monteforte (class of 2022!) competed with the upperclassman as one of the top 6 for the accuracy portion of the camp. Has tons of confidence for his age and his form is very advanced. Very advanced for this point of his career and excited to see him grow!

Declan McCauley is a massive underclassman and looks like he could be a senior in high school. Frame is exactly what you want and he already has it filled out. His speed and accuracy is well beyond his age as well. Very impressed with his development and can’t wait to see what he develops into!

Bryce Eimer impressed all day. He advanced the furthest out of this age group in the speed portion of the camp. His form is very solid, and once he gets his accuracy locked in, he is going to be dominant.

Jake Deluccia absolutely fires the ball back to the punter. The ball jumps out of his hands and has a tight spiral. Transitioned into blocking very well. A few small adjustments to his stance and everything will come together.

Connor Rhinehart has come a long way in a short period of time. His body is starting to develop and it shows with the speed of his snap. He is very accurate and snaps a very smooth ball. Excited to see him to continue to develop physically and see what he grows into.

Luke Byrne is going to be something special once he develops a bit more physically. His ball has a very tight spiral and is very accurate. Once he can grow some strength and develop some flexibility he will be extremely impressive. One to watch.

Zack Taylor has big shoes to fill (older brother is Billy from class of 2017) but he is well on his way. His form is almost identical to his brothers (which is pretty darn good). Once he develops a bit more physically, the sky is the limit. Very excited to watch him grow.

Andrew Dufault (class of 2023!) shows incredible potential this early on. His form is very sound and he snaps a very good spiral. Once he makes a few small adjustments he is going to grow into something special.

Notables: Connor Montgomery, Colin Blount, Patrick Cooney, Spencer Rhinehart

AJ Covan

AJ Covan

Long Snappers from NY, SC, OH, PA, VA, GA, FL, TN , WB, IN, NJ & NC all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall camp champion was AJ COVAN (SC, ’18)! Covan is EASILY one of the most consistent and accurate Long Snappers in the country. Once he catches his stride, there is no stopping him in a competition. He is excellent on the Target and has very little wasted movement with his snapping. I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him win the whole thing in Vegas. His victory in NC earned him a free admission to VEGAS XXIX!

You can see the finals between AJ Covan and Maddie Golden below…

The next stop for Rubio Long Snapping will be TX (12/4), AZ (12/11) and GA (12/18)

Top 2017 Long Snappers

Mitch Hall

Mitch Hall

Mitch Hall, who recently committed to Louisville on full scholarship, was tremendous from the first to last snap of the day. He is extremely smooth and snapping with an incredible amount of confidence. Lousiville got a good one in Mitch.

Austin Reeves looked VERY good in NC. Body is solid and so is his attitude. Reeves was snapping like he knows he is a D1 Long Snapper and I love that. Ball is accurate and clean. Great kid.

Shiloh Mast came down from Indiana and was very impressive. He is a thick and strong Long Snapper that uses his body really well. Incredible personality that will be a hit on the field and in the locker room. The recent Indiana State commit has a great day.

Ryan Culbertson looked very smooth and showed great consistency all day. Moved well on his feet and showed excellent potential. Snapped with confidence and uses his body well.

Matthew Newsome was excellent in NC. Ball is very quick and his upside is off the charts. Should dominate VEGAS XXIX.

Tyler Keaton was one of the most consistent Long Snappers in attendance. Form is very good and I love his attitude. As he continues to put on more size, the speed of his ball will definitely increase.

Ryan Watkins has great form and did very well even though he is a bit nicked up. Incredible drive and attitude.

George Chestnut has improved a ton since the last time I saw him in TX. Body is maturing well and he has good athleticism for his size. Snapping with confidence will be key as he has great form and I want him to trust it. Lots of upside on this big, strong Long Snapper.

Nick Chiaravalloti has some very quick hand and moves well on his feet. Love to see him lean back a bit more to get his ball down a tad more as it will really increase his accuracy. VERY good upside on Nick.

Top 2018 Long Snappers

Maddie Golden

Maddie Golden

Maddie Golden was outstanding in NC. His snap speeds are well into the college level right now and the ball jumps out of the gate. Hands are quick and he has great form. He moves well on his feet and he does well under pressure. Like to see a bit more size on him but he is already one heck of a Long Snapper and should be focused on making The TOP 12 Camp at VEGAS XXIX.

Payton Dunagan looked VERY sharp out in NC. He has good size and moved well on his feet. Ball can be really quick and precise. If he can improve his accuracy and consistency by VEGAS XXIX, he will punch his ticket to The TOP 12 Camp.

Jack Hadley came down from NJ and left no doubt he has the ability to be one of the top Long Snappers in the country. Body is maturing really well and I like the way he moves his feet for a bigger man. Overall consistency of speed is what I will be focused on at VEGAS XXIX.

Noah Turner is a thick, strong Long Snapper with good power. Ball is quick and has good accuracy. Powerful Long Snapper that needs to make sure he doesn’t get too stiff. If he stays loose, he could take the top spot in his class at VEGAS XXIX.

Kent Vines is a big man with a great snap. Really enjoy watching him throughout the day. TONS of upside.

James Rosenberry is a tremendously consistent Long Snapper with speeds in the mid to high .7s. Form is good and he uses his whole body really well. Definitely one to watch as he could EASILY get a TOP 12 spot by the end of the first day of VEGAS XXIX.

Brennan Milliron was very impressive in NC with his quick hands, good snaps and athleticism throughout the day. Love his attitude as he is always improving.

Max Durschlag had a great day in NC and almost ended up winning the whole thing! Handles pressure really well and is built extremely solid. Like to see him focus on trusting his body and just letting the ball fly out of his hands.

Marshall Eury has a great attitude and good upside. Consistent speed means he is definitely one to watch at VEGAS XXIX.

Jon Kirkland might have the most upside of anyone in his class. This kid fine tunes some things and he is going to find himself with colleges drooling all over him right after VEGAS XXIX.

Notables: Trent Grotelueschen, Same Deluke, Griffin Hicks, Frank Hudgins, Brett Duffey, Matt Cronin, Corbin Robertson, Jack McCauley, Kenneth King, Zach Chamblee, Hunter Becker, Dominic Cesta

Top 2019 Long Snappers

Rhys Suter

Rhys Suter

Rhys Suter looked very solid in NC. Ball is consistently in the low .8s and he can dip into the high .7s when he really lets is fly. Good attitude and he has a good shot for The TOP 12 Camp after VEGAS XXIX.

Drew Little has great form and is growing well. Ball pops back to the punter and has good accuracy. VERY close to ending a camp with a victory and it should happen in the near future.

Liam Crowley has tons of upside and could easily be one of the top Long Snappers in his class.

Alexander Harper was impressive when he was snapping the ball AND when he was moving on his feet.

Kevin Thompson might just be one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. He absolutely destroyed the agility section of the camp.

Tripp Heath has good upside and I like his attitude. Ball moves well.

Mike Wojciechowski is extremely accurate and is growing nicely.

Notables: Brendan Beattie, Shane Wilson, Zach Lassiter

Top 2020 Long Snappers and beyond….

Declan McCauley was tremendous out in NC. He could pass for a freshman in college, let alone a freshman in high school. Snap speed is very solid and he can already hit in the .7s. The upside on Declan is off the charts.

Mason Williams showed me a lot of good things in NC. Good Long Snapper with lots of upside. Consistent speeds in the .8s. Watch him at VEGAS XXIX.

Ryan Purcell has a great attitude and good form. Smooth Long Snapper that is impressive for his age.

Alexander Shuran is ONLY a 2024 Long Snapper and already has great form. Remember his name.
