The overall camp champion was Jacob Potter. Potter was excellent all day. His hands were like rockets as his ball jumped out of the gate on all snaps. Accuracy was off the charts and he was very calm and collected when he was snapping throughout the finals. He was definitely snapping with a ton of confidence and I loved watching him all day. His victory in GA earned him a free admission to VEGAS XXIX!

The next stop for Rubio Long Snapping will be Prep Camps in CA, TX & GA on January 8th followed by the granddaddy of them all, VEGAS XXIX on January 13-15!

Top 2017 Long Snappers
Jacob Potter was the top 2017 Long Snapper in attendance. He was smooth, powerful and snapping with confidence. Ball moves quickly and jumps out of the gate on a mission. Body is strong and he has no problem getting the ball under .75. Impressive improvement on Potter.

Chandler Moody really caught my eye several times in GA. Ball is quick and he can hit under .7 when he catches a groove. I like his attitude and he has a frame that can pack on about another 40. Moody could be the sleeper of the 2017 class. Keep a close eye on him.

Dillon Manning showed great improvement and is one of the stronger Long Snappers in his class. He can pass an eyeball test quickly and can move well on his feet. Quiet and determined Long Snapper that has some VERY quick hands.

Tuck Gill was impressive in GA. His body is thick and he has a nice spiral. Impressive use of his overall solid frame. Ball is accurate and consistent.

Dominic Brocato made it deep into the finals and snaps with confidence. Coming along very nicely and always improving.

Notables: Austin Gean, Jacob Helton, Gio Miller, Ben Shirley

Top 2018 Long Snappers
Oscar Shadley was the best overall Long Snapper in this class. He is an incredible athlete and snaps one of the most consistent hard balls I have felt in some time. He is CONSISTENTLY at .68 and on target. The harder he snaps the ball, the better he does. The potential on Shadley is off the charts and he could be a tremendous Long Snapper in college.

Roen McCullough had a solid day in GA. He can pass an eyeball test quickly and snaps a smooth, powerful ball. He has no problem hitting sub .70 and has good accuracy. Moves well on his feet and snaps with a good attitude. Massive upside.

Cade Long looked great in GA. Ball is so clean and crisp every single time to the punter. Cade makes everything look effortless as he continuously snaps the ball back to the punter. The bigger he gets, the more dominant he becomes in his class.

AJ Covan continues to impress me with his accuracy and consistency with his snaps. Notable improvement on his athleticism and speed. Covan is focused and dialed in for VEGAS XXIX and could EASILY win it.

Evan Dvorchik was beyond solid in GA. I saw him recently in WA and he was night and day better this time around. He is snapping with a ton of confidence as his ball hits under .77 consistently. Body is good and I love his attitude.

Jarrett Key was smooth and accurate. Quiet Long Snapper that is always in the mix of dominance. The more he snaps with confidence, the better he does in the long run. VERY good attitude that a coach will love in the coming years.

Brock Assel made it all the way to the finals and could have easily won the whole thing. His accuracy and consistency are off the charts. Large man with decent athleticism for his frame. Great attitude and definitely improving. Should do really well at VEGAS XXIX.

Parker Lefton looked good in GA. Thick bodied with quick hands and a consistent snap in the high .7s.

Camren Wood was VERY impressive in GA. Easily the best day he has had with Rubio Long Snapping. He is doing an excellent job of improving. Over and over throughout the day, I was wooed by Camren and his snapping.

Jake Rudolph is a good athlete with solid upside. When he is on, he is really on and has excellent athleticism.

Notables: Aidan Brock, Heath Crabtree, Dillon Hayes, Noah Hightower, Evan Jennings, Richard Landry, Brock Powers, Eli Spivey, Bailey Williams

Top 2019 Long Snappers
Quentin Skinner is a physically monstrous Long Snapper that is completely dominant and still hasn’t filled all of his potential yet. When it all clicks, Skinner could be one of the greatest Rubio Long Snappers of all time. His hands are quick and his ball is powerful. Strength is off the charts.

Drew Little had a great day in GA. Great form and he is using all of his body well. He had some great snap times throughout the day and left no doubt he has really been working hard and smart. Great upside on Drew.

Christian Johnstone looked very solid in GA with his accurate and consistent snaps. Love his frame, his attitude and his upside. He could easily earn a roster spot at The TOP 12 Camp at VEGAS XXIX.

William Wagner came on strong at the end of the day in GA and left a very good taste in my mouth. Body is thick and he uses a good amount of his body. Keep an eye on him.

Chad Becker looked great in GA. His snaps get out of the gate very quickly and he has no problem getting the ball under .7. Upside on Becker is huge. Watch him closely at VEGAS XXIX.

Codey Bennett is a strong Long Snapper with quick hands and a consistent, accurate snap. He moved well on his feet and was impressive throughout the day in GA. He is definitely one to watch at VEGAS XXIX.

Mason Napper has a good frame and a smooth snap. Very good potential and I like his attitude. He has the ability to be the real deal in just a couple months. Napper might be the sleeper of his class.

JC Vega is an incredible athlete with excellent upside. Snaps speeds are good and bordering on great. Lots and lots of upside.

Zach Lassiter made it deep into the finals and could have walked away with the victory. Built long with a frame that will hold some good weight over the next couple of years. Handled pressure well.

Notables: Carson Crisp, Cade Degraw, Ford Hayes, Tripp Heath, Graham Leslie, Dylan McCardel, Cody Olszewski, Justin Wright

Top 2020 Long Snappers and beyond….
Zane McCracken was by far the best 2020 Long Snapper in attendance and it wasn’t even close. Form is exceptional as he has been with Rubio Long Snapper for about five years! He can already snap in the .6s which is exceptional for his age. Zane is well above his age for talent level.

Jackson Worthen has great form and a solid attitude. Ball is quick and his overall use of his body is very solid for his age.

Will Benton was solid all day in GA. I like his attitude and the way he snaps the ball. Fine tuning his overall form and locking down his spiral will push him way up the rankings.

Eli Pyrz is a consistent Long Snapper with very quick hands. He moved well on his feet.

Kneeland Hibbett is a 2021 Long Snapper that was impressive for his first camp with Rubio Long Snapping. Good overall form and a solid attitude. He is already using his whole body well. Good upside.

Recap of the FL Fall Camp (10/2/16)

Lindale Football Stadium at NightRubio Long Snapping traveled to Florida on October 2, 2016 for their fall camp and the talent there was tremendous. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling across the country this fall instructing Long Snappers and getting them ready for the biggest event for specialists in the country, Vegas XXIX. Next stop is PA on Sunday, October 9th!

Long Snappers from across the state of Florida were on hand to obtain the best instruction and most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall camp champion was Oscar Shadley (FL, ’18)! Oscar was very impressive all day, snapping fast and accurate footballs through the whole morning session. He carried that momentum over to the afternoon where he reached the finals of the winner’s bracket for the accuracy competition, and was dominant in the speed competition having 5 of his 6 snaps in the .6s (and his worst was .72)! He won the camp through a dominant effort in the overall championship round. He is very well developed physically and has the confidence to play at the next level. Expect a huge performance out of Oscar at Vegas XXIX!

Top 2017 Long Snappers

lawless-paul

Paul Lawless

Paul Lawless (FL) was the pick to win the competition after the morning session. He was very smooth all day and effortlessly gets the ball back to the punter. He has a tremendous frame, very long and can put on more weight without any issue. He uses his legs very well for how tall he is, just needs to focus on keeping his butt down when he is getting set in his stance to help his snap from going high.

Ethan Willis (FL) had a great camp and shoed a lot of promise throughout the day. He has extremely long arms and very quick hands that allow him to get the ball back very quickly. After seeing himself during the film session, Ethan started to be more conscious of his legs and needing to be more aggressive and quicker with his leg lock. Continuing to work on that as well as flexibility will be huge for him.

Top 2018 Long Snappers

Clay James

Clay James

Clay James (FL) was off the charts all day and was the winner of the winner’s bracket of the accuracy competition. His form is darn near perfect and really uses it to his advantage to snap very fast times (on top of being in the finals for the accuracy competition, he was also one of the last two in the speed competition with camp champion Oscar Shadley). Clay has the ability to be dominant when all things are clicking, and expect him to show this in Vegas XXIX.

Zach Castano (FL) really impressed through the morning and afternoon sessions. His form was extremely sound and was very accurate. Very athletic kid who moves very well and was hungry to learn everything he could about Long Snapping; was very attentive and engaged in all classroom session. Really enjoyed working with Zach and look forward to see his continued improvement.

Braxton Baker (FL) was probably one of the smoothest Long Snappers at the camp. His ball cut through the air with ease, and everything was effortless to him. Big strong athlete who needs to develop his flexibility a bit more to allow his legs to fully lock out. Once he gets the full power out of his legs, punters better watch out because the ball will be humming back.

Evan Dvorchik (FL) had a great camp. His form is almost there, and with continued focus on not popping up when he snaps will make it perfect. He snapped from very good balls throughout the day, but fine tuning his technique just the tiniest amount will make him more consistent and become very, very good.

Top 2019 Long Snappers

Enzo Anthony

Enzo Anthony

Enzo Anthony (FL) was very close to winning the whole camp. He came back through the knockout round of the accuracy competition and ended up winning the finals vs Clay James. Enzo shows tremendous upside for someone of his age. His form is so sound and he snaps such a tight spiral. As he continues to develop physically and get a little more power in his snap, he is going to be one of the top Long Snappers in his class.

Frank Melgarejo (FL) impressed all day. He is a very physically developed for his age, and with continued work will become a tremendous Long Snapper. A little work on weight distribution (sitting back at the beginning, sitting back down at the end) along with flexibility (not popping up so much as he snaps) will be monumental in his development. I know he will continue to work on those and am excited to see him continue to develop!

Griffin Kaye (FL) had a very good camp. His form is very good, and when he decides to get set, he can snap with the best of them. The six inches between the ears will the biggest hurdle for Griffin, as he needs to stop thinking so much and just get set and snap the ball. When he does that he is great.

Top 2020 Long Snappers

Jacob Zuhr

Jacob Zuhr

Jacob Zuhr (FL) is extremely talented for his age. His flexibility is off the charts, and his form is darn near perfect. He snaps a very tight spiral that cuts through the air effortlessly. Excited to see Jacob continue to develop physically as he has a very bright future ahead of him!

Clay Caldwell (FL) took some very purposeful strides in his development at this camp. He came in very raw, but his attentiveness to detail and eagerness to learn from others, he came out a very more polished Long Snapper. I know Clay will continue to take all the fundamentals and skills he learned home and will come back to his next camp a very much improved Long Snapper.
