For the overall RSI Scores from the CA Camp, please go HERE

Speed Champion, Jac Casasante and Overall Champion, Max Nieland

The overall winner of the camp was Max Nieland (CA, ’18). Max was solid all day long in CA and really caught fire late in the day. On the Target, in the finals, he only missed a couple of times and his misses were by inches. His accuracy is excellent, consistency is off the charts and he has an excellent attitude. Max does an excellent job of not remaining stagnant and is always improving. Very proud of Max and how far he has come with his Long Snapping.

The finals in CA were between Peter Bowden (56.76), JJ Lindsay (55.26), Matt Tokos (46.15), Max Nieland (45.32), Cruz Rubio (43.42) and Simon Samarzich (41.67). You can see the full finals video below….

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS
– Jac Casasante was the speed champion of the day with 15 yard snaps in the low .6s! His attitude is incredible, he can run with the best of them and his ball is obviously at college speeds right now. He is going to be a great pick up for a college coach.
– Matt Tokos had a great day making it into the finals of the speed and accuracy competitions. Excellent attitude and one of the most consistent Long Snappers in his class. He is going to be a great asset to a coach on and off the field.
– Gabriel Cervantes is a long, pure athlete that is improving week to week. He is a coachable Long Snapper with excellent upside and a frame that can easily put on another forty pounds throughout college.
– Hunter Becker is a smart Long Snapper that is thick, strong and has great form. High academics make him a big pickup for the right college. Always improving.
– Morgan White has great power and the ability to really rip the ball back to the punter. I was impressed with his size and upside. Locking down the spiral and consistency will be huge for him.
– Chance Nelson is a great JC Long Snapper that runs like the wind and has solid accuracy with every ball he snaps to the punter.
– Robert Fiene is a strong and athletic Long Snapper with great upper body follow through.
Notables: Michel Heller, Jack Hughes, Jacob Mauch, Dante Mirogilo, Axel Raarup, Wyatt Rech, Mason Somerman, Tanner Williams

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS
– Simon Samarzich is a pure athlete with great form and excellent consistency. Made it into the finals, again, and showed great snaps throughout the day. Smooth and accurate with an excellent attitude.
– Luke Rizzo looked very powerful and was snapping the ball with some solid confidence all day. When he snaps with absolute full power, he is easily one of the best in his class.
– JJ Lindsay looked extremely smooth throughout the day and left no doubt he has been working hard and smart the past couple of months. Keep a close eye on him this fall and at VEGAS XXXI.
– Jack Landherr has the ability to be one of the best Long Snappers in his class. Good frame that is strong and still has room to put on some good size over the next two years of high school.
– Dean Lau is one the purest athletes in his class. He has put on some good size and has quick hands to get the ball back to the punter with good pop.
– Peter Bowden had the top RSI of the camp and was impressive in CA. Built very long with room to put on some good weight. Form is good and he can get the ball ball back in the high .7s to low .8s. Once he makes sure he is really getting his upper body all the way through and not turning so quickly after the snap, he will dominate his class. Keep an eye on Bowden.
– Kyler Greenway looked solid with good form and consistency. Listens well and is very coachable. Good upside on Kyler.
Notables: Josiah Hirsch, Nathan Hedberg, Brian Rea, Jesse Vasquez, Nick Wade

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS
– Kameron Hawkins continues on his path to greatness. Form is excellent, ball is clean and his hands are quick. He is now able to get the ball, consistently, under .78 and he shows no signs of letting his foot off the gas. Great Long Snapper on and off the field.
– Cruz Rubio is a big and powerful Long Snapper that can already get the ball in the .7s. Moves well on his feet and has good form. Making sure he is leaning back, following through with his fingers and keeping up with his athleticism could push him to the top of his class.
– Aaron Estrada looked very solid athletically and with his snapping. His hands are quick and that really helps get the ball out of the gate well. Estrada is a very hard working Long Snapper that will be an asset to any team he is on.
– Michael Munoz handles pressure really well and has all of the tools to be a great one. Built with good length and a smooth snap, the sky is the limit for Munoz.
– Jaden Sanchez is beyond strong and built for his age. Moves well on his feet and has one of the most powerful balls in his class. Locking down the spiral is going to be massive for Sanchez moving up the rankings.
– Cody White had a great day in CA. I thought he looked solid at the Underclassmen Invitational and he went beyond that on Sunday. Really impressed with the direction “Drago” is headed.
– Michael Tokos is beyond consistent and might be the overall quickest Long Snapper his class. I love his attitude and how the ball gets out of the gate. Getting fully set and putting on some size will be huge for Tokos.
– Tony Villarreal looked beyond smooth in CA. His ball just flies out of his hands and appears in the punters hand. I love to watch him snap and I know his punter will love catching snaps from him.
Notables: Brendan Duffy, Davis Salom, Troy Sicaeros

TOP 2021 & 2022 LONG SNAPPERS
– Cameron Warchuck showed great speed for his age with snaps to the punter already hitting in the .7s. Big and strong Long Snapper with great upside.
– JT Greep was solid with nice form, a great attitude and consistent speeds.
– Jamie Feldermann has good form and a very accurate ball.
– Cody Allen showed great athleticism and accuracy.

Recap of the TOP 12 Camp

The Rubio Long Snapping TOP 12 Camp was on July 17-19, 2017 and featured, quite possibly, the most talented group of Long Snappers to ever come through the system. There was Long Snappers committed to school such as Virginia Tech, Colorado State, Air Force along with offers from Oregon, Marshall, you know what, it might be easier just to show you….

This TOP 12 camp was different from years past as 20 Long Snappers were chosen from the January Vegas Event, 20 were chosen from the May Vegas Event along with five wild cards. All of these terrific Long Snappers competed against one another to see who the actual TOP 12 would be on Wednesday. As if that wasn’t enough pressure, the whole thing was going to be filmed for a new web series called the TOP 12 Series!

So, we still had the annual belly flop contest with the kickers (I am choosing not to think about the outcome so we will move past it) and the night out on the town with the kids to see how they handle themselves socially. That was the same, but the exit interviews were different where we actually met with each Long Snapper and let them know right then and there if they had earned the TOP 12 gold shirt! You want to talk about stressful for them and myself.

If you are looking to see all of the photos put up by Nick Monaghan, I highly recommend checking out his website. He is the best in the business and took thousands of photos over the three day span to provide the most exposure for the Long Snappers.

Great shot by Nick Monaghan in the War Room during one of the exit interviews.

After all of the snapping, dinner, socializing, and interviews, the TOP 12 Long Snappers in the country were (in alphabetical order)…

Karsten Battles
Cade Long
Antonio Ortiz
Marco Ortiz
Roen McCullough
Kyle Petrucci
Gabriel Pugh
John Raines
Ross Reiter
Simon Samarzich
Oscar Shadley
Quentin Skinner

The overall camp champion was Oscar Shadley. The Virginia Tech commit left no doubt he was the top overall Long Snapper of the group with incredible athleticism. His ball seemed to get quicker and more powerful as the days progressed. No matter what was thrown at him, Shadley dominated.

Here is a detailed recap of each TOP 12 Long Snapper followed by a quick write up on all that attended as they are all deserving of recognition.

Karsten Battles – Thick, strong and powerful Long Snapper that locks in and rarely misses. Very detail oriented Long Snapper that is like a machine out on the field. He already holds several offers and will make any college coach happy over the next couple years.

Cade Long is one of the most efficient Long Snappers in the country. Rarely, and I mean very rarely, has a bad ball. Accuracy and consistency are his strengths. Body is getting bigger and stronger. Overall, a tremendous Long Snapper.

Antonio Ortiz – might have the most potential of any Long Snapper that has ever gone through Rubio Long Snapping. Antonio has an absolute tremendous frame and runs like wind. Type of Long Snapper that could play for the next twenty years. If he puts his mind to it, he could be the best to come out of Rubio Long Snapping.

Marco Ortiz – simply duplicate what I said for Antonio. Marco is a little less polished that Antonio at this point but still has just as much upside. Both are full easy scholarship picks and any coach would be lucky to have them.

Roen McCullough – Strong and powerful Long Snapper that can snap a ball right through the punter. Kid is a machine on the field and works like a horse to be the best. Handing pressure really well and love is attitude.

Kyle Petrucci – He continues to improve athletically and with his snapping. Still has some slight issues with getting his upper body all the way through but his overall size is so dominant, that it can be overlooked. When he really drives his upper body through, he can put the ball in the low .7s and right in The Rubio Zone. Smart Long Snapper with tons of upside.

Gabriel Pugh – a 2019 Long Snapper that has one of the most powerful snaps I have ever witnessed. His ball almost feels like a wet, heavy ball about to break your hands. Built like a college tight end and he still has two years left of high school. Upside for him is off the charts and I love his attitude.

John Raines – Quick hands and a very crisp ball that really flies out of his hands. Recent Ole Miss commit never stops improving and is always right in the finals but no one really ever notices. Excellent Long Snapper that is truly dedicated to his craft.

Ross Reiter – Great personality along with being a tremendous Long Snapper makes Reiter one of the best recruits of his class. Ball is beyond tight and always right on target. Body is improving by the second and he has one of the most crisp and precise balls you will ever encounter.

Simon Samarzich – extremely athletic 2019 Long Snapper that snaps a smooth and consistent ball. The more he works on his craft, the better he will be. Coming out of his shell with his snapping and his personality is making Simon a major recruit over the next couple of years.

Oscar Shadley – He left literally no doubt he is the top Long Snapper in the country. Incredibly impressed with how well he handles adversity and just gets better with more pressure. Ball is beyond fast with snap speeds under .65 and he just gets more accurate with the more snaps he takes.

Quentin Skinner – 2019 Long Snapper that could end up being the best to roll through Rubio Long Snapping. Extremely strong athlete that looks like a college linebacker and is as strong as one (already can bench 400 lbs!). I have watched Mad Dog snap in tons of camps and he was the best I have seen him this good. Just flat out awesome!

Rest of the best in alphabetical order…..

Ryan Aguilar – Athletic with tons of potential. Smoothing out the consistency will make him a sure fire recruit.

Matt Aloni – Thick bodied and smooth Long Snapper that can be the best in the upper east coast….easily.

Brock Assel – Air Force commit with tons of power and a solid attitude. Locking down his accuracy puts him at the top.

Brenden Bentley – Snapped a powerful ball with good consistency. Locking down his spiral and quickness will push him up the ladder.

Jac Casasante – One of the fastest Long Snappers with his ball and feet in the country.

Gabriel Cervantes – Long, pure athlete with tons of upside. Smoothing it all out will get him to the top.

AJ Covan – He might be the most accurate Long Snapper to ever go through Rubio Long Snapping. Made it to the finals and literally just doesn’t miss The Rubio Zone. If you are looking for pure accuracy, there is literally no one better.

Zach Drevno – Thick and strong Long Snapper that has improved a ton over the past year. Continuing to lead with his elbows with create more overall speed on the ball. Tremendous attitude.

Payton Dunagan – Incredibly flexible Long Snapper that hands the ball to the punter. Locking down his spiral will be huge for Payton.

Evan Dvorchik – Great competitor with a solid snap. The tighter his body gets and more athletic he becomes, the more of a full fledged recruit he becomes.

Zach Edwards – One of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. Smooth and consistent. The more confidence he gets, the more dominant he becomes.

Ron Gaines – Massive Long Snapper with a smooth ball that has solid accuracy and consistency . Snapping with full power and increasing his athleticism makes him top dog.

Evan Gibson – He is improving drastically and is already one of the top Long Snappers in his class. More overall speed pushes him to the top.

Maddie Golden – incredible Long Snapper that can rip the ball back to the punter. Also overflowing with an amazing personality. Easily the top of Long Snapper that could dominate on and off the field.

Kameron Hawkins – Late invite to the TOP 12 Camp and it was well deserved. Only a 2020 Long Snapper but already is snapping at D1 speeds and accuracy. Athleticism and strength will be huge. No one works harder and smarter.

Dillon Hayes – Incredibly accurate and consistent Long Snapper. Locking down his spiral is the key to greatness.

Hayden Hood – Athletic Long Snapper with massive upside. Getting bigger and more powerful is going to be key for Hood.

Noah Howell – Might be the most improved Long Snapper in his class over the past year. Built thick and strong. Great upside.

Clay James – Recent University of Miami commit is beyond accurate and consistent with his snaps. Strength with his snaps and consistency of speed will be huge for Clay.

Jarrett Key – Looked solid and was impressive. Overall strength is going to be huge for Key advancing up the rankings.

Drew Little – Easily one of the top 2019 Long Snappers in his class. Strong with a very a efficient snap. If his spiral was completely locked down, he would have had a TOP 12 spot.

Chance Nelson – Massive upside on this Long Snapper that is a tremendous JC athlete. Kid flies down the field and is a massive factor on punt coverage. Making sure his ball is spiraling is the key.

Jude Pedrozo – Thick and strong Long Snapper that will be as good as he wants to be. Confidence with his snapping will be huge. Incredible personality that can dominate a team.

Randen Plattner – One of the most impressive Long Snappers at the camp and right on the cusp of making the TOP 12. Consistency of speed is the key for Randen.

Austin Riggs – Long Snapper that rises to the level of competition around him. Great personality that is going to be successful in whatever he chooses to do.

Luke Rizzo – Overall dedication is going to be key Rizzo.

Michael Vinson – Really impressed with Vinson’s attitude and snaps. Making sure his spiral is fully locked down and continuing to build on his strength will be key.

Nathan Weneta – athletic Long Snapper that was very close to making the TOP 12. Increasing his overall strength and confidence will be huge for him as we go through the next couple of years.

Jax Wilson – Incredible upside and he could easily end up being one of the top Long Snappers in his class. Smoothing out his snapping motion will be huge for Jax.

Jacob Zuhr – 2020 Long Snapper that left no doubt he is the best in his class with his powerful snaps that can easily hit sub .70 and he is only going to be a sophomore!!!

Recap of the CA Spring Camp (3/5/17)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to CA on March 5th, 2017 for their spring camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling the country this spring instructing Long Snappers and getting them all ready for the 2nd biggest event of the year (the largest is our January Vegas Event), VEGAS 30!

This was the first Rubio Long Snapping regional camp that featured the RSI Testing to track a Long Snappers progress throughout the year and it was an overwhelming success. You can find out more about this new format HERE and the RSI’s from this actual camp already posted HERE

Simon Samarzich

Long Snappers from CA, NV, TX, IL, GA & UT all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall camp champion was Simon Samarzich (CA, ’19).  VEGAS 30! Samarzich has been on a tear ever since VEGAS XXIX in January where he was one of the most dominant Long Snappers in his class. You can tell he has been working hard and smart to fine tune his overall snapping motion. He is very athletic and extremely consistent with his snapping speed. Tons of upside on Simon as he just continues to improve.

You can see the full finals below….

Top 2017 Long Snappers

Noah Rodriguez-Trammell

Noah Rodriguez-Trammell looked his usual casual and comfortable self. He has great size, snaps a really smooth ball and is easily one of the most consistent Long Snappers in his class. Utah is getting a good one.

Harrison Hoffman was very solid all day and even got an offer from San Jose St. right after the camp. Easily the smoothest Long Snapper in CA and possibly the country. Never stops impressing me.

Chance Nelson is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in the country. Kid can fly downfield and is snapping a solid ball back to the punter.

Scott Stevens snaps a powerful ball and can pass an eyeball test from three miles away. Kid is massive and can play right now in college.

Notables: Johnny Fuentes and Nick Rovetti

Top 2018 Long Snappers

Brendan Bentley

Brendan Bentley was on fire all day in CA. Body is looking very solid and he is definitely moving better on his feet. Should be a flat out pure athlete by VEGAS 30. Love his attitude and work ethic.

Gabriel Cervantes continues to impress me with his overall frame and his snapping. Kid has grown about a foot in one year and he is using all of his body really well when he is snapping. Sky is the limit for this kid.

Kyle Petrucci was very impressive when he was snapping the ball hard back to the punter. Massive human being that is beginning to move better on his feet.

James Townsend is incredibly athletic and can easily be one of the top Long Snappers in his class. When he has everything click, his snaps are glorious.

Jesse Hooper was impressive in CA with his strong frame and powerful snaps.

Noah Howell is starting to really pick up steam and was looking solid in CA. Kid has great upside and starting to show off his true potential

Ryan Aguilar

Ryan Aguilar had a very good day in CA. His snapping form is solid and he is able to handle pressure well. Consistency of his speed and just becoming more fluid throughout will really help him out at VEGAS 30.

Mason Napper came all the way out from GA and was impressive. I love his large from and he has great consistency with his snaps. He hovered right around .77 all day long. Excellent upside on Napper.

Nathan Weneta had a solid day in CA. Great from and moves extremely well on his feet. The less he thinks, the better he does. Upside is huge.

Dean Lau won the overall speed competition with a snap of a .72 at 15 yards! Not only can Lau snap the ball fast, the kid can run like the wind. Definite factor on punt coverage.

Brad George is athletic and snaps with rage…..and I love it. Great attitude on a terrific Long Snapper and person.

Dylan Black had a good day with snaps in the .7s. Consistency of speed and size will be huge for Dylan as we creep towards VEGAS 30.

Aidan Livingston impressed me with his work ethic, form and his accuracy. More power and confidence will push him well into the .7s by VEGAS 30.

Notables: JJ Lindsay, Jesse Vasquez, Reed Simmons, Derek Bedell

Top 2020 Long Snappers and beyond….

Aaron Estrada

Aaron Estrada had a great day and made into the finals even though he had an ear infection and was sick. Starting form is good and he handles pressure well. Estrada got a little fatigued in the end but I have a feeling it was due to his body just saying “that’s enough” Very impressive day for Estrada.

Kameron Hawkins has, quite possibly, the best form in his class. He uses his body extremely well and can hit in the low .8s very consistently. Works hard and smart at all times.

Cruz Rubio is a thick, strong Long Snapper that moves well on his feet for his size. When Cruz gets set, he is the best in his class and can hit in the low .7s. Consistency of speed is going to be huge for him.

Jacob Garcia snaps a really nice tight spiral with good consistency. Need to see him get some more pressure on his left hand to center the ball more on the punter. Really good improvement over the past couple of months.

Notables: Michael Munoz, Michael Tokos, Tony Villarreal, Andrew Wells, Chris Kent, JT Greep, Kurt Chesney, Jamie Feldermann

Happy Ranksgiving to the Class of 2018 Long Snappers

VEGAS XXV FinalsThe rankings are completed for ALL 2018 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping National Event: VEGAS XXV!

Approximately 300 Long Snappers came in from nearly every state in the country and even Canada to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snappers. This was what you call a true national event to see how you really compare against the best in the world. As I stated before, there is nothing like Vegas and this one definitely did not disappoint. Testimonials are coming in non-stop regarding the weekend.  With the addition of an agility and tackling station, athleticism really played a role in the rankings.

Next ranking opportunity will be at any Rubio Long Snapping spring and summer camp.

This group was simply amazing with the level of talent they brought out to the field on both days. I could make this post 20 pages long talking about each and every one of them. Here are the best of the best….

  • Ross Reiter was tremendous all weekend at VEGAS XXV. Very strong for his age and snaps the ball with good power. Love his attitude.
  • Kyle Petrucci He is built EXTREMELY long.  His has outstanding athleticism for his size. He moves with purpose and also tackled very well.  One to watch.
  • Roen McCullough He looks and snaps like someone three years older than he actually is.  Roen ept very good control of his body and tackled well at the agility and tackling station. He has TONS and TONS of potential.
  • Ryan Walsh His form is excellent and he is snapping with confidence. Ryan needs to make sure he locks down his spiral so the ball is smooth and easy to catch. Walsh has a good attitude and is always improving.
  • Joseph Ramos He is a solid Long Snapper with great size already for his age.  By VEGAS XXVI I want to see lighter and smoother moves on the agility and tackling station. He is a good kid with tons of potential.
  • Jerrett Key Key has a good frame for his age and snaps a solid ball. His snap is tight and shows good accuracy. He is a very good snapper for his age. He broke down and tackled very well at the agility section of the weekend.
  • John Raines He has exceptional form and snaps with a lot of power. Raines has very impressive speed for his age and tons of potential.  He listens well so he could shatter the charts. Keep a very close eye on him throughout high school.
  • Brendan Watson He is easily one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. He moved very well on his feet. His form is very good and he does a solid job of using his whole body throughout the snapping motion. Watch him this spring and at VEGAS XXVI.

FUTURE STARS

  • Quentin Skinner  He is easily the best middle school Long Snapper in the country. This kid is a monster.
  • JC Vega He has VERY good starting form and looks good snapping the ball. Keep a very close eye on this one. He could be tops of his class quickly.
  • Simon Samarzich He has very good form and is an excellent Long Snapper for his age.

Notables: Gabriel Cervantes, Hunter Becker, Noah Turner, & Dillon Hayes

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)

James Townsend, #1 Long Snapper for Class of 2018

This class of Long Snappers is really staring to shine with several freshman standing out.

  • Leading the pack was James Townsend of CA. Townsend was on fire all day in CA. His form is very good and he can already snap in the low .8s. Solid frame with a great attitude.
  • Joseph Ramos of AZ is a massive man with a bright future in Long Snapping. Ball is quick and he is dripping with potential.
  • Loved the improvement I saw on Hunter Dickey. He is extremely long with a ton of potential.
  • Another kid with a lot of potential and length is Kyle Petrucci. Once it all clicks for him, he will dominate.

Notables: Matt Garcia, Charles De Rosier and Gabriel Cervantes
