Recap of the IL Spring Camp (4/2)

ChicagoRubio Long Snapping traveled to IL  on April 2nd for their spring camp.

Long Snappers came out from MO, IN, OH, PA, WI, MI, NJ, IA, MS, CA, KY, AL & IL to learn from the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall winner of the camp was Noah Rodriguez-Trammel (CA, ’17)! Noah came all the way out from CA and truly made the trip count. He is a massive Long Snapper that can pass an eyeball test quickly and hits in The Rubio Zone all the time. Very accurate Long Snapper with good speed that handles pressure well. Winning is becoming common for Noah as he also recently won a camp in CA!

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS:

Riley John

Riley John

Riley John was the top 2016 Long Snapper in attendance. He was snapping in the high to mid .7s all day and has gradually improved every single time I see him at a camp. He is going to be a very good pickup for a college. I really like his attitude and he is snapping a college ball right now.

  • Phillip Thomas looked good in IL. Thick and strong Long Snapper with great form and a very smooth ball. The more he trusts his form and just lets the ball fly, he will be better in the long run.
  • Matt Lewis is a true athlete that can fly downfield. Ball is smooth.
  • Ben Dillion was snapping some good heat in IL. Form is good and he has upside.

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS:

Joe Calcagno

Joe Calcagno

Joe Calcagno was the best 2017 Long Snapper in attendance. He is a large, strong Long Snapper with great form and lots of power. Ball can get into the high .6s and his hands are very quick. Calcagno is looking very solid and everyone should keep an eye on him at XXVIII in May.

  • Nate Durham was impressive with his accuracy and speed. Very good attitude.
  • Shiloh Mast uses his whole body very well and can catch a groove.
  • Marshall Coluzzi continues to be on the most accurate and consistent Long Snappers in his class.
  • Trevor Dhabalt was throwing absolute fire in IL. His snap JUMPS out of the gate very QUICKLY.
  • Dylan Castro is flat out smooth and fun to watch snap. Great ball
  • Cole Stewart will be a completely dominant Rubio Long Snapper when he explodes at the beginning of the process instead of gliding into it. Kid is going to be excellent.
  • Matt Baldeck can be one of the best in his class if he just gets set. Ball is VERY powerful.
  • John Davis looked impressive and is definitely showing he can snap at the next level.
  • Chaz Satnan is a monster of a man and once he locks down his accuracy, he will move way up. Potential is off the charts.
  • Zach Appio is gaining confidence and building steam as we head into XXVIII in May. Great attitude.

Notables: Jackson Bond, Jack Darby, Zach Appio, Kyle Eckelberg, Will Patton

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS:

Ross Hinders

Ross Hinders

Ross Hinders was the best 2018 Long Snapper in attendance. His consistency is off the charts. He is like watching a pitching machine out there. Every snap is the same. Speed is good and he is getting bigger by the hour.

  • Roen McCullough is a beast of a man and can snap major heat when he is on. Consistency of speed and handling pressure will be big things I am looking for at XXVIII in May. Major upside.
  • Jack Hadley has been on the camp circuit with Rubio Long Snapping and it is paying off big time. Kid is coming along VERY nicely and wouldn’t surprise me to see him battle for a spot on the EVENT ELITE. Big man with great power. It’s all starting to come together.
  • Ronald Gaines looked very sharp in IL. Massive man with great form. Getting his whole body and power to go back will help a ton. Good attitude.
  • John Raines is VERY accurate and consistent. Locking down his spiral will be huge as we head to Vegas.

Notables: Camren Wood, Brendan Watson, Jack Halper, Matt Cluchey, Alex Rosenbaum

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS:

Brendan Beattie

Brendan Beattie

Brendan Beattie looked great all day. Kid snaps with some serious speed on the ball and his accuracy is solid. Needs to focus on locking down the spiral as move forward. Lots and lots of potential.

  • Charlie Gambs has some good speed and consistency.
  • Patrick Szezesniak is a very athletic Long Snapper with good upside.
  • Mike Wojciechowski has excellent form and is VERY accurate. The bigger and stronger he gets, the better he will be.

Notables: Nathan Tokar, Max Bruff, Maverick Pugh, Charles Bernth
