Recap of the IL Fall Camp (9/25/16)

ChicagoRubio Long Snapping traveled to Illinois on September 25th, 2016 for their fall camp and the talent did not disappoint. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling the country this fall instructing Long Snappers and getting them all ready for the biggest event of the year, VEGAS XXIX!

Long Snappers from IN, TN, MI NE, WI, MO, MN, KS & IL all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

nate-durham4185

Nate Durham

The overall camp champion was Nate Durham (IL, ’17)! Nate was exceptional all day long with smooth, consistent snaps and some good speed on the ball. Very accurate and consistent with snaps locked in the .7s all day long. Body is solid and he is snapping with some solid confidence. Very impressed with Nate as he was down in the final against Ryan Langan and fought back to win the championship and earn a free admission to VEGAS XXIX!

You can actually watch the finals between Nate Durham and Ryan Langan HERE on Periscope.

The next stop for Rubio Long Snapping will be FL next week with PA following one week later.

Top 2017 Long Snappers

joe-calcagno4869-1

Joe Calcagno

Joe Calcagno was a machine all day long in Chicago. The Penn St. commit is a VERY strong Long Snapper with great power and excellent form. He is snapping with great confidence and is looking ready for the next level sooner than later.

Zach Appio got VERY hot throughout the day and was snapping very fast balls in the speed competition. Snapping with confidence and looked really good all day.

Dylan Castro is EASILY one of the smoothest Long Snappers in the country and is just always on point. Quiet and dominant Long Snapper. Really snapping with good power right now on the ball.

Ryan Langan won the speed competition and snaps a really powerful ball that crushes the punter. When he is on, he can hit in the high .6s. TONS of potential on this NE Long Snapper.

Chaz Satnan is a monster on the field and one of the most improved Long Snappers in the past year. The more he improves his athleticism, the better he is. Smooooooooth Long Snapper.

img_0864Drew Wise can be one of the best Long Snappers, easily, in the country when he is on. Being consistent and letting the ball fly out of his hands will help a ton in the long run. Upside is off the charts for Wise.

Erik Abrell is beyond smooth and looked great in IL. Body is solid and he snaps with power.

Matt Hembrough is a VERY athletic Long Snapper with a frame that a college coach is going to love. Rooms for some good weight and he has great form. Love his attitude.

NOTABLES: Tanner Curry, Grant Higgins

Top 2018 Long Snappers

trey-corley7115

Trey Corley

Trey Corley caught fire several times in IL. Frame is very solid and he can pass an eyeball test right now. When he is on, he is REALLY on. Once he gets his eyes through, he will dominate. He could be an absolute monster at VEGAS XXIX.

Ron Gaines was really impressive in Chicago. He has done a great job working on his body and becoming more of an athletic Long Snapper.

Michael Vinson is a large Long Snapper with good power and the ability to snap in the .7s on punts. Love to see him focus on confidence and just letting the ball fly out of his hands.

Brendan Watson can snap a ball very quickly and once he locks down the spiral, he will dominate. He has a couple months until VEGAS XXIX, so he can easily make the fixes to dominate there.

NOTABLES: Bryce Bouwens, Jack Mullen, Alex Rosenbaum, DJ Shefland, Ryan Walsh

Top 2019 Long Snappers

pat-szczesniak7254

Patrick Szczesniak

Patrick Szczesniak has a very long, athletic frame with room to put on some good weight over the next couple of years.

Drew Little has great form and snaps a really nice ball. His punter must love him now and his future coaches will love him for his accuracy and consistency.

Brad George snaps the ball with some great power and VERY quick hands. Needs to lock down the spiral prior to VEGAS XXIX to really dominate.

NOTABLES: Charles Gambs, Logan Johnson, Nolan Rossback, Nathan Tokar, Charlie Burr, Kuper Imrem

Top 2020 Long Snappers

David Boan

David Boan

David Boan is on the verge of being one of the greats. Keeping focus on his form and making sure he is continuing on this path will make for a fun journey.

Christo Kelly was impressive in IL with good overall snap speeds and a solid upside.

Ethan Jones was snapping the ball with some good form and a solid attitude.

NOTABLES: Michael Bastuga

KEY POINTS:

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target and will always be announced when they are completed on social media. For summer camps, they have been promised by October 1, 2016 due to the amount of travel Rubio Long Snapping will have to do.
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and my several select member of my senior staff. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)
  • My rankings are based off of this blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
  • If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
  • All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.

For the profiles section, simply go to RubioLongSnapping.com. click PLAYER PROFILES, click which class, click LONG SNAPPERS and find your name.

2016 Spring Camps

1910

Recap of the NC Summer Camp (7/25)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to NC on July 25th for their summer camp. This group of Long Snappers absolute blew me away with the talent from top to bottom.

Long Snappers came out from VA, NC, PA, GA, OH, SC, MA, FL, WV, MD, AL, TN, TX, NJ & IL to learn from the best and get the most exposure.

The overall winner of the camp was Jacob Rubinstein (FL, ’17). He handled pressure extremely well and was very accurate. Incredible personality and always smiling. Very consistent Long Snapper.

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS:

    Ben Wyatt

Ben Wyatt left no doubt he was the best Long Snapper at the camp. He is big, strong and very accurate when he is snapping the ball to the punters. Kid is a machine. His misses are by inches.

  • Jackson Quiggle could catch fire and dominate a camp when he catches a groove.
  • Stephen Klotz is VERY close to greatness and definitely someone to watch.
  • Brett DioGuardi has great size and a wonderful attitude. Very smooth Long Snapper.
  • Charles McDonough has the ability to snap at the next level once his spiral is locked down. Great form.
  • Jack Wellenhoffer has all the tools to be a great one. Built very long.
  • Noah Flowers is one of the strongest Long Snappers in his class.
  • Spencer Mamo showed me some great things throughout the day. Consistency will be key.
  • Nathan Millar has TONS of upside and definitely someone to watch in the future.

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS:

  • Mitch Hall

    Mitch Hall

Mitch Hall was exceptional all day and was the speed champion with times in the low .6s. Locking down the consistency moves him to a 5 Star Rubio Long Snapper.

  • Austin Reeves is smooth, accurate and always improving.
  • Tristan Sokach-Minnick was VERY impressive in NC. Ball is tight, on target and VERY fast. Keep a very close eye on him at VEGAS XXVII. Trust me on this one.
  • Grant Miller continues to improve and be the smoothest Long Snapper in his class. Tremendous frame.
  • Quinn Stephenson has some of the quickest hands in his class. Ball is fast.
  • Ryan Schwind wooed me throughout the day with his speed and attitude.
  • Ryan Culbertson is starting to move into place to dominate a camp. Wouldn’t surprise me to see him win a camp soon.
  • Kanyon Combs showed waves of brilliance.

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS:

  • Noah Turner

    Noah Turner

Noah Turner was OUTSTANDING all day in NC. Ball is at D1 speeds right now. Locking down his form and making sure all is smoothed out will make him unstoppable.

  • Ryan Walsh was smooth and accurate. Strength and confidence will be key in moving up the rankings.
  • AJ Covan showed great poise throughout the competition aspect of the camp. Very impressed with his demeanor.

KEY POINTS:

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me.

Happy Ranksgiving to the Class of 2018 Long Snappers

VEGAS XXV FinalsThe rankings are completed for ALL 2018 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping National Event: VEGAS XXV!

Approximately 300 Long Snappers came in from nearly every state in the country and even Canada to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snappers. This was what you call a true national event to see how you really compare against the best in the world. As I stated before, there is nothing like Vegas and this one definitely did not disappoint. Testimonials are coming in non-stop regarding the weekend.  With the addition of an agility and tackling station, athleticism really played a role in the rankings.

Next ranking opportunity will be at any Rubio Long Snapping spring and summer camp.

This group was simply amazing with the level of talent they brought out to the field on both days. I could make this post 20 pages long talking about each and every one of them. Here are the best of the best….

  • Ross Reiter was tremendous all weekend at VEGAS XXV. Very strong for his age and snaps the ball with good power. Love his attitude.
  • Kyle Petrucci He is built EXTREMELY long.  His has outstanding athleticism for his size. He moves with purpose and also tackled very well.  One to watch.
  • Roen McCullough He looks and snaps like someone three years older than he actually is.  Roen ept very good control of his body and tackled well at the agility and tackling station. He has TONS and TONS of potential.
  • Ryan Walsh His form is excellent and he is snapping with confidence. Ryan needs to make sure he locks down his spiral so the ball is smooth and easy to catch. Walsh has a good attitude and is always improving.
  • Joseph Ramos He is a solid Long Snapper with great size already for his age.  By VEGAS XXVI I want to see lighter and smoother moves on the agility and tackling station. He is a good kid with tons of potential.
  • Jerrett Key Key has a good frame for his age and snaps a solid ball. His snap is tight and shows good accuracy. He is a very good snapper for his age. He broke down and tackled very well at the agility section of the weekend.
  • John Raines He has exceptional form and snaps with a lot of power. Raines has very impressive speed for his age and tons of potential.  He listens well so he could shatter the charts. Keep a very close eye on him throughout high school.
  • Brendan Watson He is easily one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. He moved very well on his feet. His form is very good and he does a solid job of using his whole body throughout the snapping motion. Watch him this spring and at VEGAS XXVI.

FUTURE STARS

  • Quentin Skinner  He is easily the best middle school Long Snapper in the country. This kid is a monster.
  • JC Vega He has VERY good starting form and looks good snapping the ball. Keep a very close eye on this one. He could be tops of his class quickly.
  • Simon Samarzich He has very good form and is an excellent Long Snapper for his age.

Each Long Snapper was filmed and will have a player profile provided for them on RubioLongSnapping.com.

This was a camp where college Long Snappers could come out to get instruction and assist with the camp, and they did not disappoint. Very good attitude and handles pressure well. Keep an eye out for Calcagno in the future.

IMG_6617

  • John Shannon (IL) left no doubt he is the best Long Snapper in his class. He is strong and snaps the ball as hard as anyone I have ever go through Rubio Long Snapping. Very close to having it all click. Regardless, he is a full on scholarship Long Snapper.
  • Steven Wirtel
  • Bradley Robinson
  • Phillip Thomas
  • Trent Kramer

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS….

Hess, Jake

  • Jake Hess had a great camp and could have easily won the whole thing. His form is coming along nicely and he is built strong. When he gets his head all the way through and with speed, he is phenomenal. Handles pressure very well.

  • Nate Dunham
  • Shiloh Mast

Nike Spring Camp in IL – Recap

Long Snappers came out to IL on Sunday, March 17th from KY, MO, MN, KS, OH, IL, CT, IN, MI, IA and NY to get the best instruction and exposure in the country for Long Snappers. The talent was the best I have seen this fall in one location. The overall winner of the camp was Tommy Sullivan (IL, ’14). Tommy has improved a great deal since his first camp with Rubio Long Snapping. He has transformed his body and his form is excellent. Sky is the limit for this Midwest Long Snapper.

Other Long Snappers that were exceptional throughout the day were….

2013

Miller, Gabriel

Miller was tremendous all day in IL

  • Gabriel Miller  (IN) – This Nebraska commit left no doubt the Huskers made a great decision in offering him a full scholarship. Miller ended up losing the entire competition by about a quarter of an inch. He is definitely ready for the next level.
  • Sean Corcoran (IL) – He has really put some good size on and his snapping with confidence. Definitely making a play to really push for the starting spot next year at Penn St. Looked the most solid I have seen him….and I have seen him many times.
Freeze, Patrick

Freeze was dominant all day in IL

2014

  • Patrick Freeze (IN) – This massive Long Snapper was amazing all day. He continually impressed me with his terrific form, hard snaps and confidence. If he snaps like he did in IL when he gets to Vegas, there is NO DOUBT he makes EVENT ELITE. Keep a very close eye on Freeze.
  • Wyatt Pfeifer (OH) – Just continues to improve and improve. Body is thick, strong and solid. His form is excellent and he is snapping as though he knows he is the best out there. Love that attitude when you can back it up…he can back it up.
  • Bronson Bruneau (MN) – Built like a college tight end and snaps like a college Long Snapper. Massive frame that could easily put on another 40 lbs. Huge upside on Bruneau. Dripping with possibilities.
  • Reid Buckingham (KS) – Easily one of the best Long Snappers in his class and could easily be the best IF he gets set. Tons of upside on this very smooth Long Snapper. Great attitude.
  • Nate Hawkins (OH) – Is a very athletic Long Snapper that never stops getting better. Slow and steady, he continues to climb the rankings. Great personality and very coachable.
  • Seth Combs (IL) – A Long Snapper with excellent form that snaps the ball very hard. Needs size to really push for top spots. Potential.
McCullough, Liam

Liam was throwing heat all day in IL.

2015

  • Liam McCullough (OH) – He proved, yet again, he is the best in his class. He has put on some great weight and looks different, in a good way, than he did just a couple months ago in Vegas. Liam easily snaps college speeds now and, when he gets through, he never misses. Amazing talent for his age.
  • Nick Janicki (IL) – Might be the most athletic Long Snapper in his class. Improving rapidly and could easily make a play for the top Long Snapper in his class.
  • Jake Knight  (MI) – He has D1 size as a sophomore and is close to snapping a D1 ball as well. Powerful Long Snapper with tons of potential. Keep an eye on him.
  • Ben Makowski (IN) – Very thick Long Snapper oozing potential. Very close to being “there” and when he gets there, the rest of his class will suffer.
  • Hunter Varga (IL) – Has really been working on his form and it is paying off. He snaps a smooth ball and will be as good as he wants to be. Snapping hard will be key for Varga.
  • Jackson Mahorney (KY) – Very smooth Long Snapper with great form. The harder he snaps, the better he will be. Built thick and strong.

2016 and Beyond…

Walsh, Ryan

Walsh is well beyond his years with his Long Snapping.

  • Ryan Walsh (IL) – Amazing talent for his age (2018). Form is exceptional and he uses all of his body when he snaps. The bigger and stronger he gets, the better he will be. Handles pressure well.
  • Nate Durham (IL) – Is really impressing me and I almost shocked he is only a 2017. Snaps with great form and solid speed. Great attitude.
  • John Shannon (IL) – Was excellent all day for his first Rubio Long Snapping camp. This freshman has a very bright future with his Long Snapping.

Other notables from the camp in IL: Jackson Mahorney, Hayden Grover, Joseph Kramer, Samuel Wilson, Brandon Wolf, Matt Combs, Seth Combs, Clay Chasteen and Jake Hess.

Rubio Long Snapping will continue it’s Nike Spring tour on Saturday, April 13th in Charlotte, NC. That camp will be followed by camps in GA and CA all leading up to the 11th Annual National Kicking and Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas on May 4-5, 2013!
