Recap of the College Camp (July 16-17, 2016)

J-A-VstrsMany of the top college Long Snappers in the country came out to the incredible IMG ACADEMY in Bradenton, FL for two days of great instruction and camaraderie. This is always one of my favorite camps due to the high level of snapping and getting to see all of the Long Snapper’s personalities.

Josh Appel

Josh Appel

The top overall Long Snapper was Josh Appel of Indiana State. Appel is a back to back champion of this camp and is looking very solid heading into his senior year and future in the NFL. He has great size, an incredibly fast snap (not uncommon to see him in snap in the .6s and EVEN high .5s for 15 yards). Keep a close eye on Appel and you will not be disappointed.

Dillon Paprota

Dillon Paprota

The Accuracy Champion of the camp was Dillon Paprota of Bucknell. Paprota is just heading to Bucknell this fall but already looks like a seasoned vet. He has excellent size and strength with an extremely powerful snap. Accuracy is obviously off the charts and he has a great demeanor. Already expecting him to win this camp next year.

TOP LONG SNAPPERS

Drew Williams of South Carolina is going to be one of the top overall Long Snappers in college next year with his outstanding speed, solid accuracy and great athleticism for the Gamecocks.

Ryan Farr of the Florida Gators was on fire at the college camp. This left is very smooth and his accuracy is excellent. Only going into his second season with the Florida Gators and they look to be set for some time with his great snaps.

Tanner Carew of the Oregon Ducks was excellent all camps. Athletic Long Snapper with very good power and an incredibly smooth snap. Always fun to watch Carew snap and see his personality.

Rubio Long Snappers in The National Championship Game!

Haynes, BryceIt seems that every single year, there is a Rubio Long Snapper in The National Championship game and this year BOTH teams will have one!

To make it even more interesting, both will have a former #1 Rubio Long Snapper.

Bryce Haynes, The Ohio State Long Snapper, was my #1 for the class of 2011. He has been extremely dominant throughout his career at Ohio St. with his academics and athletics.

Carew, TannerTanner Carew, The Oregon Ducks Long Snapper, was my #1 for the class of 2014. He has started as a true freshman and already recorded several tackles. He was also an Army All-American last year.

Also on the Oregon Ducks, you will find Rubio Long Snappers Devin Melendez and Connor Johnson.

You know me, I am pulling for a tie game with a lot of punt snaps but I am betting that won’t be the case. I guess I will have to settle for several pat and field goal snaps.

Congratulations to these fine young men and their respective teams. May the best team win!

Recap of the Rubio Long Snapping CA Camp on Feb. 23, 2014

Long Snappers came out to CA to attend the Rubio Long Snapping CA Camp on February 23rd from CA, AZ, NV, IA, OR and TX  to get the best  Long Snapping instruction and exposure in the country for Long Snappers. Long Snappers, and their parents/guardians, were instructed on the field, had a film and classroom session, a recruiting seminar and ended the day with a competition with Rubio present and running the camp. Each Long Snapper was filmed and will have a player profile provided for them on RubioLongSnapping.com.

The overall winner of the camp was Oregon Duck commit and current #1 Long Snapper in the country, Tanner Carew (CA, ’14)! Carew left no doubt that he is the top Long Snapper in the country. Whether he was running down field like a gazelle or snapping an absolute rocket, Carew was the man. He was calm, handled pressure very well and almost nonchalant the whole day. He is flat out ready for the next level right now. Oregon got a great one in Carew.

  • Wes Bertoni (CA) is a JC Long Snapper that has not been snapping for that long but you would  never know. He rips the ball back to the punter and is oozing with confidence.

  • AJ Carty (CA) was on fire all day in CA. He is built like a D1 Long Snapper already and snaps as fast as college snapper as well. Hands are quick and he has great form. Soon, he will flat out dominate a camp from start to finish.

TOP 12 Recap – Day Three

The best of the best Long Snappers in the country came to Los Angeles, CA for the annual Rubio Long Snapping TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp! The three day event featured instruction, evaluation and top snappers competing against one another for 72 hours straight!

Long Snappers came in Los Angeles from TX, NC, AZ, CA, MS, AR, KS, OH, IL, IN, WA, GA, MN, WI and VA to compete against one another and learn from the best. The first day of camp was used to halt the butterflies and knock off the rust from a long travel day for many of the athletes. The second day was all about letting the Long Snappers show their skill while perfecting their blocking and snapping under pressure. The third day was all about competition, filming and camaraderie.

At this camp there are several Long Snappers already with full ride offers. Tanner Carew has committed to Oregon, Blake Ferguson has been offered a scholarship to LSU and Liam McCullough has picked up two offers this week: one from Michigan St and one from Wisconsin.

The overall winner of the TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE camp was Liam McCullough! Liam was challenged by Kyle Murphy in the finals but Liam outlasted Kyle in a great battle. Liam caught a groove on Saturday and simply never let it go. He was extremely smooth and dominant on Sunday. The Target was his friend and the ball’s home was the 3 point slot.

1Liam

Liam McCullough

This camp, which is definitely one of my favorites since you get to see the personalities of the Long Snappers over the weekend, did not disappoint. The overall talent was absurd. From top to bottom, the TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Long Snappers left no doubt they were the best in the country. They snapped with confidence as their slowest timed snap of the weekend is a very good .81 with a fastest at a .59. This group should go down in the books as one of the more accurate and consistent groups of Long Snappers to tackle this camp. Great snappers, excellent people and solid personalities made it a great weekend.

Some Long Snappers that just continuously stood out during the weekend were….

Tanner Carew – Beyond smooth and athletic. His ball just jumps back at you, yet it still hits your hands smoothly. Tremendous attitude.

Alan Lucy – Excellent speed, accuracy and just keeps improving. Easily the best available Long Snapper in the country and should pick up an offer in the very near future. He absolutely rips the ball back there.

Wyatt Tucker Smith – Is built like a D1 Long Snapper, he snaps like a D1 Long Snapper and will be a D1 Long Snapper. He has all the tools and should have an offer quickly.

Blake Ferguson – Already with one offer in hand, I wouldn’t be surprised to see many more by the time he is ready to sign. Built extremely well and is overflowing with confidence when he is snapping. He could snap a ball in college right now…easily.

Davis Winkie – Massive man that looked very solid all weekend. He is really smoothing his snap out and fine-tuning his form. When he is on, he is the best in the country…and he is very close to always being on.

Wyatt Pfeifer – Big frame and was really using it all weekend. Snapping hard and with a ton of confidence.

Casey Wilson – Easily the smoothest Long Snapper in the country. He has really improved his blocking and it is paying off. Great overall Long Snapper.

Joel Baldwin – Flat out impressive all weekend. Not very boisterous but doesn’t need to be. He lets his snapping do his talking for him. Body is improving by the minute and he is snapping the ball well.

Seth Combs – Snapped hard all weekend and let his great form do all the work. Tremendous improvement and I don’t see him stopping. Keep a very close eye on him.

Nate Adams – Built like a college linebacker. Snaps a very, very accurate and consistent ball. Form has improved tremendously and he is close as possible to being “there.” Moves extremely well on his feet.

CJ Keller – He has an extremely tight spiral and might be the most consistent Long Snapper in the country. He is like a pitching machine when he snaps…they are all exactly the same. The more athletic he gets, the more offers he will pick up.

Next stop for Rubio Long Snapping is the Underclassmen Invite Event next weekend in CA where the top 2018, 2017, 2016 and 2015 Long Snappers will embark to compete.

All-American Team

Starting this year, Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking will be choosing an All-American Team!

We will be choosing 4 High School and 4 College All-Americans. We will also be choosing a Most Improved Kicker, Punter and Long Snapper for the year as well.

One of the best parts about these awards, besides the honor itself, is that they will be announced on Friday, January 17th in Las Vegas. Yup, that is the day before the world’s largest kicking, punting and Long Snapping event and everyone will be on hand for the ceremony.

Also, in Vegas on that same night, Herbalife 24 will be announcing the Chris Rubio Award and Chris Sailer Award for top High School Long Snapper and Kicker of the Year!

Therefore, instead of just a handful of lucky families being able to see the Chris Rubio and Chris Sailer Award presentations, there will now be hundreds. The awards ceremony will take place in a ballroom at the JW Marriott with the front tables being reserved for the finalists and their families, while the rest of the ballroom will be open seating and free to the public. Imagine the NFL draft in your head….that is what this will look like in Vegas.

With no further adieu, here are the Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking Pre-Season All-Americans….

Rubio Long Snapping Nike Spring Camp in CA – RECAP

Long Snappers came out to CA on Sunday, February  24th from CA, NV, NY, OR and NJ to get the best instruction and exposure in the country for Long Snappers. The talent was overwhelming for all ages attending the camp. The overall winner of the camp was Chase Dominguez (CA, ’13). The Utah Ute commit was, as his norm, smooth and dominant all day. It is almost likes he lulls you to sleep and just crushes your hopes. Even his misses are only off by an inch or two. Chase, to say the least, is beyond ready for the next level.

Other Long Snappers that were exceptional throughout the day were….

Cole Mazza

Rubio Long Snapper Cole Mazza was the top Long Snapper in the class of 2013

2013/JC

  • Chase Urbach (NJ, ’15) has been on fire since Vegas and doesn’t look to be letting up anytime soon. His form is exceptional and he is gaining confidence by the day. I would keep a very close eye on Urbach. He is really starting to impress me.

  • John Aloma (CA, ’16) was as smooth as ever with his Long Snapping. Picture perfect form that will only get better, the bigger he gets. Great attitude.

Meet the 2013 Members of the TOP 12!

After every National Snapping Event in Las Vegas in January, I choose the TOP 12 underclassmen Long Snappers. They are the best of the best out in Vegas and are selected to participate in the Invite Only TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE (these Long Snappers will be chosen after the Spring Event in Vegas) during the summer. Only the true great ones are allowed to attend the TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE camp and you must do extremely well in Vegas to be considered. The percent of Long Snappers that have been invited to this camp and continued their careers into college is well over 95%!

If you make this list, you obviously can snap the ball and do it well. Now, I wanted to give you a bit of insight on them off the field. In alphabetical order….
