Rubio Long Snapper Matt Keller Picks Up Full Ride

Rubio Long Snapper and Event Elite member Matt Keller (15, PA) has picked up a full ride offer to Syracuse!

If Keller was to commit to Syracuse, he would be following in Rubio Long Snapper Sam Rodgers’ footsteps.

Here is the review from his profile page and video below the quote…Keller, Matt

He has good size with room to grow. Form is excellent and the harder he snaps the ball, the better he will be. VERY accurate and consistent with his snaps. Leaning back and snapping with more force will be big for him in the future. Stoic Long Snapper that handles pressure well. Upside. Coachable.

Congratulations to Keller and his family.

Long Snapper SCORES Touchdown

D'Appollino, AlanAs I am sure everybody knows (well, everybody involved with Long Snapping), a Alan D’Appollonio of Arkansas scored a touchdown! If you haven’t seen this VERY creative play, it is a must watch.

Alan attended several Rubio Long Snapping Vegas Events and ended up being a 5 Star Long Snapper that was ranked 11th in the country in 2011. Alan has always had tremendous athleticism and it looks as though the Arkansas staff has taken note. Congratulations to Alan and the Arkansas football team.

8 Things Every Parent Can do to Help with Recruiting

Follow these easy steps to make your son and/or daughter a more recruitable athlete…

  1. Do NOT overstep your bounds. If I have said it once, I have said it a hundred times….the coach will be recruiting your son and/or daughter, NOT you.
  2. Be very supportive of your son and/or daughter. I know they are going through their teenage years and this one can be tough, but remember, you were once a teenager (even if they don’t acknowledge) and times can be tough.
  3. Make sure your son and/or daughter will actually have a chance to go to college. There are tons of hoops to jump through nowadays, and you want to make sure your child has them all covered.
  4. Create a nice, clean highlight tape that is available on YouTube. Remember, you do NOT have to be an award winning director to create a great video.
  5. Review possible questions that a coach might ask your son and/or daughter. Role play if you will. Make sure your child speaks clearly, slowly and is looking you in the eyes.
  6. Do research on schools and try as hard as you can to take some trips to the schools on NON sports days. Sure, every school looks amazing on game day, but that is not reality. It will only look like that about six weekends per year. Go to the campus on a Tuesday, see what is really like. Go during different seasons so you can truthfully understand the different weather the area might have.
  7. Be sure your son is getting the right type of exposure from the right people. Just because someone tells you something, doesn’t mean it is true. Ask around, ask other parents. Do your homework.
  8. Allow your kid to be on social media, but make sure they know you are monitoring them. Nothing personal to the athletes, but they are young and they are dumb (sorry, it’s true and the reason I know it’s true is because every single adult was also, you guessed it, young AND dumb once as well) and they will make mistakes. The only difference is that when an adult used to be young and dumb, only the people that saw them do something ignorant knew about it. Now, with the onslaught of social media, the world can know about it in less than a second. Even saying that, there are so many benefits to social media for them to be off of it (one of the first questions a coach will ask me, “is the kid on Facebook? Have him friend me so I can contact him”).

Rubio Long Snapping is, by far, the biggest and best resource for Long Snappers in the country. Rubio has been featured in the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, the USA Today, Deadspin and countless other publications.

Offering the best instruction and most exposure in the world, Rubio Long Snapping can help you to become the best snapper you can be!

In just 15 years, Chris Rubio, President and Owner of Rubio Long Snapping, has become the #1 Long Snapping instructor in the country and the go-to man when a college coach needs a Long Snapper. Colleges from across the country rely on “Rubio’s” word day in and day out on who the best Long Snappers are in the country. Rubio Long Snapping has assisted in over 1,000 Long Snappers earning full scholarships and preferred walk-on opportunities to major colleges and universities just for Long Snapping and many into the NFL as well.

Lewiston Tribune Article on RUBIO

This article was featured in the Lewiston Tribune on October 3, 2014.

Documenting the life of a long-snapping coach isn’t the way most filmmakers opt to begin their career. But Tanner Gibas knew Chris Rubio’s story couldn’t go untold.

A Lewiston resident, Rubio is known as the nation’s leading guru for high-schoolers hoping to take their long-snapping to the next level. Those in the “long-snapping family” understand his instruction is unparalleled and it’s precisely the reason Gibas’ full-length film, entitled “Rubio,” is hardly centered around Rubio’s expertise with the position itself.

The movie premiers today at 6:35 p.m. at Lewiston’s Village Centre Cinemas and will air once every day at the same time for one week.

Instead, the film dissects Rubio’s background, answering the questions many have posed to the coach throughout the years.

Chief among those questions: Why did Rubio, a UCLA graduate and Los Angeles native who has long-snappers playing for Alabama’s Nick Saban, LSU’s Les Miles and Notre Dame’s Brian Kelly, decide to settle in Lewiston of all places?

“Rubio is obviously a well-documented person, but what isn’t well-documented is how he became who he is today,” said Gibas, who developed a relationship with Rubio at a young age when his older brother began working with him in Los Angeles.

Gibas was a long-snapper at the University of Kansas and is still attending the school, where he studies film and media. “Rubio” will show at the Oread Hotel in Lawrence, Kan., on Oct. 10.

“How does someone become who they are today? What happens in their life, what shapes them to be who they are?” Gibas said. “I wanted to do a story like that.”

Rubio was on board with the project from day one, though he wasn’t initially sure whether Gibas was serious about it.

“When Gibas first called me, said ‘Hey, I want to make a movie about your life,’ I thought he was kind of kidding,” Rubio recalls. “From that to me thinking it would be a five-minute YouTube video to seeing it last week almost complete, and thinking ‘Wow, this is a real movie,’ … I don’t want to downplay him, but it’s a real movie.”

The 1-hour, 45-minute documentary depicts Rubio’s upbringing, his short stint as a school teacher and the unique story of how he met his wife Jolie.

Rubio, born in 1975, wouldn’t spill the beans quite yet, but gave a hint: “Our relationship started, essentially, in 1954. I’ll just leave it at that.”

Gibas has a few other showings in the works, thought nothing is official yet. He hopes to screen the movie in Los Angeles and make it available to audiences online in the near future.

“Right now we’re going to release the film, kind of let it do its thing with the few releases we have, let people start talking about it a little bit and, quite honestly, I need a week break,” Gibas said.

More information on the film, including the official trailer, can be found at therubioproject.com.

MAJOR Positive Vibes Needed for Rubio Long Snapper Gabriel Miller

For the past couple of weeks, I have been communicating back and forth with Rubio Long Snapper Gabriel Miller of Nebraska and his mother. Gabe tweaked his back prior to season and was having some issues. I honestly thought it would pass with some good rest, it didn’t.

This morning, Miller is having major back surgery (5:30 am pst) and it will last for several hours. He will be having a lumbar laminectomy with a spinal fusion. He has an exposed nerve that is causing numbness and now some hamstring weakening.

Bottom line, I want the Rubio Long Snapping family to pull together and help Gabe out through this ordeal. You can shoot him a message on Twitter at @GabeMiller_LS or even mail him a quick note at 2021 G Street, Lincoln, NE. 68510.

Gabe, and his family, need us all right now. Any of you that know Gabe, know he is always with a smile and I don’t want today, or the following weeks, to be any different.

Is Your Son Ready for a Rubio Long Snapping Camp?

“Rubio, I’m nervous my son is not ready for your camp since he is just starting out”

“Rubio, all your camps have a ton of great Long Snappers and I don’t know if my son will be able to handle it”

“Rubio, how do I know if my son is ready for your camps?”

“Rubio, what skill level is required for your camps?

There are all very common questions that I get continuously throughout the year. The answer is simple: your child is ready. Now. Yup, now.

Here is the thing…Yes, there are many great Long Snappers at my camps, but do you know how they became great, by going when they weren’t great.

For every amazing Long Snapper you see, I can EASILY show you film of them being absolutely terrible. Everyone starts from somewhere. Like I always say, no one comes out of their mother snapping a .75. It takes time, it takes good form, it takes effort, it takes working hard AND smart. It happens. It always does.

Great example is Rubio Long Snapper Taybor Pepper of Michigan St. The first video is from 8th grade where he is, let’s just say, not really great. The second is from this past summer where he is, lets just say, phenomenal. (P.S. I could show you HUNDREDS of examples like Taybor)

Bottom line, there is no time like the present to get your kid to a Rubio Long Snapping campThe sooner I see him and get him going with the proper form, the better he will be in the long run. If he goes to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing first, I have to correct all of the mistakes then start building the form to greatness.

Happy Birthday Macaw!

Who is Macaw? Macaw is my grandmother and today she is turning 97 years old and I just had to give her a shoutout as she is a true legend……and one of the meanest people you will ever meet:)

This is from the first blog I wrote about my family (obviously three years ago)…

Macaw – My grandmother. She is 94. I think. She thinks. Anytime you ask her she bumps it  up simply to be the oldest person around. She hates when she is not the oldest. I always try to point out someone that looks older and tell her they are older (I don’t even know the person, just do it to keep her fired up). She then proceeds to hit me with her cane….which she really doesn’t need and only uses it for abusing her grandson…me:) Yet again, I embrace since hitting me with it keeps her spry.
