Recap of the Underclassmen Invitational

On July 20-21, Rubio Long Snapping held it’s annual Underclassmen Invitational. This camp has quickly grown to be a favorite amongst Long Snappers, the parents and the staff of Rubio Long Snapping. It is basically like a mini TOP 12 Camp with Long Snappers from the classes of 2019-2022.

Day 1 was filled with instruction, lively competitions, social media seminar by Terry Crosby (always a good time), a game show (Long Snappers dominated!) and a catered pasta dinner for all participants and their families. One of the great things about this camp is some of the meetings are done without the other party. For instance, when Terry Crosby was speaking to the parents, the specialists were in another area learning about nutrition and lifting. Then, on the flip side, when Crosby was speaking to the kids, the parents were not in the room. This definitely leads to some great moments within the Rubio Long Snapping family.

Day 2 was all about competition and one-on-one instruction. When the Long Snappers weren’t going head to head on The Rubio Target, they, and their parents, were brought over to work with Rubio in a one-on-one setting. Time and time again, you could hear “Ahhhhhh!” “Ohhhhhhhhh” “I knew there was something off, thanks for clearing it up Rubio!” It was a great four hours for all involved and everyone got better!

The overall winner was Luke Payne (2019, GA). Luke was hot off a win at the Rubio Long Snapping GA Summer Camp and he left no doubt he is headed for greatness. His ball is beyond accurate, he has good consistency and the kid handles pressure like a true champion. If any Long Snapper is going against Luke and he scores first, the game is usually over.
