\"\"<\/a>So, I received this email from a Rubio Long Snapping parent and I had to share due to the content (yes, I got their approval). Trust me, after 2o years I had thought I had heard it all but this one takes the cake.<\/p>\n

Let me present to you, The Story of The Rubio Long Snapping Target<\/a> vs. a Rabbit.<\/strong><\/p>\n

“I just wanted to share my afternoon with you, let\u2019s call this an afternoon of chaos brought to you by the Chris Rubio Long Snapping Target\u2026<\/em><\/p>\n

I have three sons\u201419, 16, and 13\u2014and while you know Liam for his longsnapping skills, you may not know my oldest is also a long snapper, currently at Lehigh.<\/em><\/p>\n

We\u2019ve lived and breathed snapping for years now, which means our backyard looks like a training facility mashed up with a garage sale.<\/em><\/p>\n

Eventually, I caved and bought the Rubio target. I mean, at that point, what\u2019s one more long snapping net\/QB target\/bounceback thing in the yard? Just more lawn decor, right?<\/em><\/p>\n

My oldest son came home last night for a couple of weeks before summer workouts start up. When my youngest came home from school today they went outside to play together. Naturally, Connor wants to try the Rubio target because this is something Liam has that he didn\u2019t…<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m in my office, minding my own business, when my youngest (12, and currently transitioning out of his tween years and into full-blown dramatic teen chaos) bursts through the door like he\u2019s announcing a hostage situation:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201c<\/strong>MOM! There\u2019s a rabbit stuck with Chris Rubio!\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m like what?!? He\u2019s breathing heavily, I realize he\u2019s talking about the target and I\u2019m like oh for god sake will you calm down.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

I head outside and yep\u2014there it is. The target\u2019s lying flat, and a rabbit has somehow Houdini\u2019d itself into the bottom net and is now panicking like it just realized it made some poor life choices.<\/em><\/p>\n

Being the calm, suburban-not-outdoorsy mom that I am, I grab a hockey stick (as one does) to lift the target and give myself a little distance. The rabbit, in response, tightens the net around itself like it’s preparing for a magic trick gone horribly wrong.<\/em><\/p>\n

I start talking gently to the rabbit, trying to reassure it like I\u2019ve seen on Animal Planet. This is when my helpful 19-year-old, Connor, strolls out and says:\u00a0\u201c<\/strong>No hable ingl\u00e9s.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Thank you, Connor. Invaluable.<\/em><\/p>\n

Then he starts yelling at the rabbit:\u00a0\u201cGo LEFT, you dumbass! Freedom\u2019s to the LEFT!\u201d\u00a0The rabbit responds by doubling down and tangling itself even further.<\/em><\/p>\n

I lift the target higher. At this point, Connor goes:\u00a0\u201cWay to go, Mom. You\u2019ve created a rabbit noose.\u201d\u00a0Super encouraging.<\/em><\/p>\n

Meanwhile, \u00a0Griffin\u2014ever the fountain of disturbing trivia\u2014chimes in with:\u00a0\u201cYou know a rabbit can live for seven minutes after it dies?\u201d<\/em>
WTF, Griffin. Seriously. Is this\u00a0helpful\u00a0right now?<\/em><\/p>\n

I\u2019m now whisper-screaming curses at my husband under my breath, because OF COURSE this is happening while he\u2019s not home. Every weird animal crisis? My shift.<\/em><\/p>\n

It\u2019s clear we need to cut the net. I send Connor inside for scissors and gloves. Keep in mind\u2014we are not \u201cglove for wildlife rescue\u201d people. We are \u201cglove for scrubbing dishes or pulling weeds\u201d people. The best we\u2019ve got is a pair of garden gloves and some mismatched dish gloves.<\/em><\/p>\n

Connor returns from the garage like he\u2019s suiting up for war\u2014with\u00a0lacrosse gloves\u00a0and a\u00a0goalie stick.<\/em>
I just stare at him.\u00a0\u201c<\/strong>What is the plan here? Are you going to save it or bludgeon it??\u201d<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

I start cutting the net while Connor stands by in full lacrosse goalie gear, presumably ready to catch the rabbit mid-flight or defend himself if it turns on us. I finally get through enough of the net and\u2014BOOM\u2014the rabbit leaps out.<\/em><\/p>\n

But not before unleashing\u00a0a noise none of us were prepared for.<\/em>
The boys jump back.<\/em>
\u201cWHAT in the actual hell was THAT?!\u201d<\/em>
Yes. Rabbits can scream. And now my children are emotionally damaged forever.<\/em><\/p>\n

The rabbit bolts into the bushes\u2014alive, but still dragging some of the net like it\u2019s been through a war zone.<\/em><\/p>\n

So, thanks to the Chris Rubio target, I\u2019m now an accidental bunny trapper and quite possibly a bunny killer (there\u2019s no way it\u2019s surviving with the noose). What an afternoon.”<\/em><\/p>\n
