Recap of the IL Spring Camp (4/2)

ChicagoRubio Long Snapping traveled to IL  on April 2nd for their spring camp.

Long Snappers came out from MO, IN, OH, PA, WI, MI, NJ, IA, MS, CA, KY, AL & IL to learn from the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall winner of the camp was Noah Rodriguez-Trammel (CA, ’17)! Noah came all the way out from CA and truly made the trip count. He is a massive Long Snapper that can pass an eyeball test quickly and hits in The Rubio Zone all the time. Very accurate Long Snapper with good speed that handles pressure well. Winning is becoming common for Noah as he also recently won a camp in CA!

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS:

Riley John

Riley John

Riley John was the top 2016 Long Snapper in attendance. He was snapping in the high to mid .7s all day and has gradually improved every single time I see him at a camp. He is going to be a very good pickup for a college. I really like his attitude and he is snapping a college ball right now.

  • Phillip Thomas looked good in IL. Thick and strong Long Snapper with great form and a very smooth ball. The more he trusts his form and just lets the ball fly, he will be better in the long run.
  • Matt Lewis is a true athlete that can fly downfield. Ball is smooth.
  • Ben Dillion was snapping some good heat in IL. Form is good and he has upside.

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS:

Joe Calcagno

Joe Calcagno

Joe Calcagno was the best 2017 Long Snapper in attendance. He is a large, strong Long Snapper with great form and lots of power. Ball can get into the high .6s and his hands are very quick. Calcagno is looking very solid and everyone should keep an eye on him at XXVIII in May.

  • Nate Durham was impressive with his accuracy and speed. Very good attitude.
  • Shiloh Mast uses his whole body very well and can catch a groove.
  • Marshall Coluzzi continues to be on the most accurate and consistent Long Snappers in his class.
  • Trevor Dhabalt was throwing absolute fire in IL. His snap JUMPS out of the gate very QUICKLY.
  • Dylan Castro is flat out smooth and fun to watch snap. Great ball
  • Cole Stewart will be a completely dominant Rubio Long Snapper when he explodes at the beginning of the process instead of gliding into it. Kid is going to be excellent.
  • Matt Baldeck can be one of the best in his class if he just gets set. Ball is VERY powerful.
  • John Davis looked impressive and is definitely showing he can snap at the next level.
  • Chaz Satnan is a monster of a man and once he locks down his accuracy, he will move way up. Potential is off the charts.
  • Zach Appio is gaining confidence and building steam as we head into XXVIII in May. Great attitude.

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS:

Ross Hinders

Ross Hinders

Ross Hinders was the best 2018 Long Snapper in attendance. His consistency is off the charts. He is like watching a pitching machine out there. Every snap is the same. Speed is good and he is getting bigger by the hour.

  • Roen McCullough is a beast of a man and can snap major heat when he is on. Consistency of speed and handling pressure will be big things I am looking for at XXVIII in May. Major upside.
  • Jack Hadley has been on the camp circuit with Rubio Long Snapping and it is paying off big time. Kid is coming along VERY nicely and wouldn’t surprise me to see him battle for a spot on the EVENT ELITE. Big man with great power. It’s all starting to come together.
  • Ronald Gaines looked very sharp in IL. Massive man with great form. Getting his whole body and power to go back will help a ton. Good attitude.
  • John Raines is VERY accurate and consistent. Locking down his spiral will be huge as we head to Vegas.

Brendan Beattie

Brendan Beattie

Brendan Beattie looked great all day. Kid snaps with some serious speed on the ball and his accuracy is solid. Needs to focus on locking down the spiral as move forward. Lots and lots of potential.

  • Charlie Gambs has some good speed and consistency.
  • Patrick Szezesniak is a very athletic Long Snapper with good upside.
  • Mike Wojciechowski has excellent form and is VERY accurate. The bigger and stronger he gets, the better he will be.

Recap Article of the IL Camp (11/22)

Chicago_RubioRubio Long Snapping traveled to IL on December 22nd for their fall camp. The camp was filled great Long Snappers on a below freezing day….but Long Snappers were inside so it was balmy:)

Long Snappers came out from IL, MI, OH, IN, PA, IA, NE, MN, WI, MA, UT, MO, KY, SD and even CA to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

The overall winner of the camp and top 2017 Long Snapper was Kasey Kelleher (OH, ’17)! Kasey was on fire all day snapping absolute bullets to the punter. Kasey continues to be one of the most consistent and powerful Long Snappers in his class. He almost won the NJ camp a couple weeks prior. Keep a very close eye on him at VEGAS XXVII. Kid is a stud!

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS:

Bradley Robinson was the best 2016 Long Snapper in attendance. He is incredibly smooth and accurate with a nice, catchable ball. Passes an eyeball test quickly and has a great attitude.

  • Phillip Thomas keeps improving and heading in the right direction. Smooth Long Snapper with unlimited potential.

  • Paul Monaco never stops improving and is making a great name for himself as one of the top Long Snappers in his class.
  • Brad Sorenson passes an eyeball test quickly and has great raw power.
  • Camden Boyle has very good speed and will dominate once his eyes get all the way through on a very consistent basis.
  • Ethan Tabel is a smooth, accurate Long Snapper with a good base. Increasing his speed by leading with his elbows will be key.

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS:

  • Nate Durham

    Nate Durham

    Nate Durham continues to improve and show great power. The more confident he gets, the better he will be in the long run. Kid has massive upside.

  • Dylan Castro is a large Long Snapper with great speed and consistency. Should dominate Vegas.
  • Zach Appio has improved as much as anyone in the country. Incredible Long Snapper and person.
  • Jack Darby showed very good potential and will dominate once it is all fine tuned.
  • John Davis has a complete tweaks to make it could EASILY be the best in his class. Good attitude. Always improving.
  • Jake Hess is coming along nicely and definitely starting to believe in himself. Great form and attitude.
  • Caleb Lawver flew in from UT and almost won the whole thing. Incredible talent.
  • Shiloh Mast might snap with the most confidence of anyone in the whole country and I love it. Great explosion.
  • Kyle O’Connor just lets the ball rip back to the punter. Lots of upside. Locking down the spiral will be key.
  • Quinn Stephenson is flat out smoooooth. Good kid.

Notables: Gunner Daniel, Matt Hembrough, Tyler Howell, Ben Jackson, Luke Sanders, Chaz Satnan, Jack Williams, Reid Williams.

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS:

Roen McCullough was the top 2018 Long Snapper in attendance. Kid is a beast with his size and his snapping. Looks like a college Long Snapper right now. Sky is the limit.

  • Ross Hinders was VERY impressive in Chicago. Easily one of the best in his class. Ball is glorious to watch.
  • Ron Gaines has improved a ton and is starting to look the part. If he can increase his athleticism, he will be doing this for a long time.
  • Matt Cluchey impressed me all day with his accuracy.
  • Charles DeRosier came out from CA and was very impressive. Snapped with a ton of confidence.
  • Jack Halper has tons of upside and snaps a great ball.

Notables: Derek Hahn, Jack Mullen, Albert Tulo IV, Justin White

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS:

Brendan Beattie was the best 2019 Long Snapper in IL. He snaps a nice, tight ball with good accuracy. Great form for his age.

  • Done Eldredge impressed with good form and a solid attitude. Coachable.

  • Brad George did well all day and has good upside.
  • Nolan Rossback has perfect form for his age and will dominate as he continues to grow.
  • Mike Wojciechowski was very impressive with his form and how he handles pressure.

Notables: Luke Hosford, Pat Szcsesniak, Ethan Warren

The best 2016 Long Snapper at the camp was Grant Jaffe. Grant came all the way out from CA and did a wonderful job. He passes the eye ball test very quickly and is one of the smoothest Long Snappers in his class.

  • Trent Kramer was excellent all day with a great frame and powerful snaps.
  • Bradley Robinson is growing by the day and has excellent form.
  • Phillip Thomas was impressive with good speed and accuracy.
  • Gabe Skrobot looks like a college player right now and is headed that way with his form
  • Paul Monaco was solid all day and improving very quickly.

IL Summer Camp Recap

Long Snappers came out on July 13 to attend the Rubio Long Snapping Camp in IL from WI, KY, NE, MI, OH, IN, IA, CAMO, NC, RI, NJ, FL, CO and IL to get the best  Long Snapping instruction and exposure in the country for Long Snappers. Long Snappers, and their parents/guardians, were instructed on the field, had a film and classroom session, a recruiting seminar and ended the day with a competition with Rubio present and running the camp. Each Long Snapper was filmed and will have a player profile provided for them on RubioLongSnapping.com.

This was a camp where college Long Snappers could come out to get instruction and assist with the camp, and they did not disappoint. College Long Snappers that were present and got better were: Taybor Pepper of Michigan St, Nick Monaghan of Missouri, Seth Combs of Illinois St. Nate Hawkins of Navy, Reid Buckingham of Emporia St, Wyatt Pfeifer of Western Michigan, Josh Appel of Indiana St, John Wirtel of Kansas, Scott Daly of Notre Dame, Will Henrichs of Olivet Nazarene, Greg Hohenstein of Bowling Green St and Nathan Gibbs of Youngstown St.

CALCAGNO, JOEThe overall winner of the camp was Joe Calcagno (IL, ’17). Calcagno did very well throughout the entire day of camp. When he gets his body set up in the right direction and snaps the ball hard, he will be very hard to beat. Thick and strong Long Snapper with a lot of upside. Very good attitude and handles pressure well. Keep an eye out for Calcagno in the future.

Whitehouse, HarleyThe overall winner of the camp was Harley Whitehouse (MO, ’15). Harley had a great day and handled the pressure very well. He was snapping hard and with a lot of confidence. Really came on when he needed to in order to lock up the victory. Love to see him get his spiral locked down and a bit more speed but he is well on his way. Expect to see great things from Harley in Vegas!

TOP 2014 Long Snappers…

  • Wyatt Pfeifer was flat out dominant all day. The Western Michigan commit left no doubt he is worth of a scholarship with smooth and accurate snaps all day long in Chicago.
  • Mitch Hardy showed, yet again, great improvement. He is snapping a very accurate ball and has a lot of confidence. Always getting better and overflowing with an amazing attitude. The coaches will love him at Arkansas St.
  • Andrew Robinson is a VERY quick learner that shows great poise every time I see him at a camp. Body is very solid and he is accurate.

TOP 2015 Long Snappers…

  • Ben Makowski was easily the top 2015 Long Snapper in attendance. He is a massive man with great power and determination. If he reaches through well, he is easily as good as anyone in the country. Keep a very close eye on him in Vegas. This kid is making a very big name for himself.
  • Tyler Griffiths looked wonderful at the camp. He is built very well with great athleticism and an excellent attitude. He is gaining a lot of confidence and should make serious move in rankings if he keeps this going in Vegas.
  • Matt Foley came out from CA and did well all day. His form is excellent and he is creating a lot of speed with his legs.
  • Hunter Varga is gaining confidence and it is paying off. He is a very consistent and accurate due to his very good form.

Other notable 2015 Long Snappers: Carson Vey, Jake Knight, Brendan Lowery, Jeremy Ashworth and Jackson Mahorney 

TOP 2016 Long Snappers…

  • John Shannon had a good day in Chicago. He easily snaps at D1 speeds and it isn’t even close. His frame is very solid and he is strong. The more he locks down his spiral, the better he will be. Hard worker and coachable.
  • Steven Wirtel shows a lot of promise and is well on his way to greatness. He might just have the most potential of anyone in his class. Sky is the limit for Wirtel. Keep a very close eye on him in Vegas.
  • Phillip Thomas had a great day in Chicago. He has improved a ton and just keeps getting better. His form is very good and he is starting to get a lot of confidence and that will pay off big time in the end. Great day for Phillip

  • Nate Durham was wonderful all day long in Chicago. He is large for his age and already has great form. I am very impressed with how well he listens and always is improving.
  • Joe Calcagno did well in Chicago. He has a great attitude and his form is looking solid. Good day for him and his future is bright.
  • Shiloh Mast impressed me all day in Chicago. He is snapping the ball hard and with a ton of confidence. Keep an eye on him.
