It’s Almost Spring & You’re a 2017 Long Snapper, Now What?

This is easily one of the top questions I get from senior Long Snappers and/or their parents. Here are the answers:

  1. You should definitely be at Rubio Long Snapping spring camp to stay sharp, focused, continue to learn how to handle pressure and show absolute dominance.
  2. If you are uncommitted, read THIS and get yourself ready for VEGAS 30 for a final push at exposure.
  3. If you are committed, you need to push yourself even harder. Dominate every camp. Commit yourself to not being stagnant.

All seniors and their parents need to remember, while you still have some time left in high school, colleges and their football programs aren’t stopping to wait for you. They have a Long Snapper on their roster and he already hates you for even thinking you will take his Jon come the summer time.

I have done this many times and  have seen countless senior Long Snappers coast through their senior year only to find a nice spot on the bench come fall. Coaches call me continuously asking how the Long Snapper they recruited is doing. Needless to say, they are not happy when I tell them “Oh, I haven’t seen him since VEGAS XXIX”

The senior Long Snappers that keep working and attending camps are the ones that start.  It’s like clockwork.

Never rest and never stop improving seniors. See you soon!

You’re a Senior, Now What?

So, you are a 2016 Long Snapper and you are most likely really getting stressed out about the next four years of your life. Either you are committed already and think you are the greatest or you haven’t committed and are wondering what is next?

This blog is going to be in two parts….first for the UNCOMMITTED, second for the COMMITTED.

For the UNCOMMITTED

  • First off, CHILL! It is still early in the recruiting process, trust me. Doubt me, read THIS then read it again.
  • Second, do NOT slack on your grades. Nothing worse than getting a call from a school but you can’t go to them because your grades aren’t up to par.
  • Continue to work with a Rubio Long Snapping staff member and DOMINATE all Rubio Long Snapping camps in your area (yes, you can AND should keep going to Rubio Long Snapping camps when you are a senior). You never know when the right school is going to contact me looking for a Long Snapper like you. You should still be going to Rubio Long Snapping camps in your area to get ready for VEGAS XXVIII in May. May Vegas is essentially your last chance to make it happen.
  • Fourth, you are the “old” guy at the camps now so you need to act like it…be mature, be confident, be nice to the young guys as you were once them.

For the COMMITTED

  • First off, NEVER, EVER STOP getting better. There is nothing that will upset a coach more than having a scholarship or preferred walk-on Long Snapper come into camp looking sloppy. They will EASILY be able to tell you if you haven’t improved since the time they recruited you. Don’t be that guy.
  • Second, do NOT slack on your grades. Sadly, I have had a kid lose a scholarship because his final semester grades slacked so much.
  • Third, NEVER stop improving and getting ready for the next stage of your life. Work with a Rubio Long Snapping staff member and DOMINATE all Rubio Long Snapping camps in your area. (yes, you can AND should keep going to Rubio Long Snapping camps when you are a senior)
  • Fourth, you are the “old” guy at the camps now so you need to act like it…be mature, be confident, be nice to the young guys as you were once them.

Happy Ranksgiving to the Class of 2014 Long Snappers from the Vegas Event

The rankings are completed for ALL 2014 and JC Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping Las Vegas Event on January 18-19!

This camp was stacked with talent and this group did not disappoint.

KEY POINTS:

  • My rankings are NOT done just from the Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me. That is why I am at all my camps.
  • My rankings are based off of this blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
  • If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
  • All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.
