The champion of the camp was Eli Chism (LA, 2020). Eli is a strong Long Snapper that won the speed competition in July in TX and now adds this to his resume. He was really accurate and consistent all day long with powerful snaps. Great upside on Eli and always improving.

The overall speed champion was John Kirkpatrick. “Thor” was absolutely ripping the ball back with times well under .75 and leaving no doubt he can snap a ball at D1 speeds.

The finals round matchups were made up of Jake Gragg, Eli Chism, Connor Able, Luke Rizzo, Briggs Magee and Brandon Oldham.  You can see the full finals video below….

Recap of the Arizona Spring Camp (3/31/19)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to the Gilbert, AZ on March 31st, 2019 for their Spring camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this Spring with stops in CA, NC, WA, NJ, Northern CA, AZ, TX, IL & GA with everything leading into the biggest and best Long Snapping event in the world: VEGAS XXXIV in May!

Long Snappers from Arizona, Colorado, Ohio, California and Nevada all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was loaded with talent and featured several long snappers worth noting. Arizona definitely did not disappoint!

The Overall Camp Champion was Declan Cappasola. Declan was absolutely lights out all day. Throwing dime after dime. There was zero surprise that he prevailed in the end. Declan’s victory did not come easy as he ran into the only snapper in the camp that might have been hotter than him, Cole McCutcheon. Something had to give. Congrats to Declan on becoming overall camp champion!

Speaking of Cole McCutcheon… Cole was the last man standing in the camp’s speed competition. His fastest snap recorded in the competition was a .70. He very easily could have been double camp champ after making the target finals in absolutely dominating fashion. All after scoring an incredible RSI score of 50.

Left to right: Cole McCutcheon (Speed Champion), Neal Dahlman (Lead Instructor) & Declan Cappasola (Camp Champion)

The top 6 snappers who earned the opportunity to compete for the honor of Overall Camp Champion, by scoring the top 6 RSI scores, were 1. Cole McCutcheon (50.00), 2. Declan Cappasola (36.71), 3. Michael Tokos  (29.11), 4. Jack Stein (26.97), 5. Deryk Leverage (25.68), 6 (tie). AJ Laux and Luke Brandt (25.64).

As you know, at every Rubio Long Snapping camp, the Long Snappers are tested to receive an RSI score. This is the most accurate and fair way to test a Long Snapper. Here are the RSI Scores from the Arizona Camp…..

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Joseph Wiysel. When Joe gets going and is throwing the ball the way he is capable of, he is very hard to beat. He has very nice jump on his ball and is able to maintain a very solid spiral consistently throughout the day. He is smooth and demonstrates really solid form. Joe was the veteran guy of the group and he did not let down with his experience.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Cole McCutcheon. As you know by now Cole had a pretty dominant day. It is no coincidence that Cole ended up the overall speed champion and also made the finals for the overall camp championship. Cole is an absolute beast. His ball is pretty and its fast. This snapper oozes with confidence, and for good reason. I love how little he is phased by any signs of pressure.

Logan MacGregor. Logan is on a fast track to becoming an elite long snapper. Logan has a huge frame and snaps the ball so effortlessly. He does a phenomenal job of getting his hands and eyes deep and practically folds himself in half when he snaps. Hardly ever misses his spots. Very raw snapper, lots of promise.

AJ Laux. AJ is a giant human being. And given his size, it’s scary how well he moves. He snaps the ball with absolute force when he wants to and hits his spots all day. That’s all with snapping one hand dominant. Imagine what he could do when he starts snapping with 2.

Michael Tokos. Michael, much like his older brother, is about as cool, calm and collected a snapper you will find. There is not much that phases Michael when he snaps. He is extremely accurate and possesses very quick hands. I look forward to watching Michael progress.

Luke Brandt. Luke is another snapper that is extremely raw and is oozing with talent. His hands are lightning quick. Luke was by far the best athlete at the camp. He is an incredibly hard worker. I wouldn’t be surprised if Luke goes home, works hard, and becomes top notch snapper next week. Id love to see what the future holds for Luke.

James Borak. James is an incredibly smooth snapper. I admire his ability to maintain an even keel and snap the ball with limited distraction. He throws an incredible ball and can improve drastically eith throwing the ball more aggressively.

Andrew Thompson. Andrew is another very good raw snapper. When he throws the ball hard, he hits his spots with solid consistency. He has a really nice follow through and does a good job of getting deep. Very coachable snapper.

TOP 2021 LONG SNAPPERS

Declan Cappasola. Declan is the real deal. He is absolutely automatic with his locations and does it while throwing one of the prettiest balls you will see. Watch out for Declan to do huge things as he nears the sub .75 mark on his snaps. Kid is going to be good!

Deryk Leverage. Deryk throws the ball with some real zip. As evidenced by his final two appearance in the camps speed competition. He is absolutely textbook in his pre snap setup. And demonstrates great form throughout his snap. He is a perfect example that posture and form DO translate to speed. Deryk shows a lot of promise.

Jack Stein. Jack is a super smooth lefty with a phenomenal head of hair. His upper body works almost flawlessly and he is very quick to get his hands through. Jack has a solid/ thick frame that is going to see some more height added to it over the next couple of years. I look forward to watching Jack get his legs involved more and becoming a very good long snapper.

Stephen Louis. Stephen has the frame to become a top tier long snapper. He is another snapper that is very raw but shows a lot of potential once he refines his mechanics. He is very accurate right now and does not show any tendencies of missing in a certain spot. I love Stephens attitude and his mental approach.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Tyler Wigglesworth. Tyler is a very impressive snapper for his young age. His eagerness to learn and improve is what makes me most excited about his progress in the near future. Tyler is very quick to get his hands through and throws the ball with really nice spin. He shows very good accuracy as well

Colton Carmichael. Colton just loves longsnapping. You can’t keep a ball out of his hands. I love that about him. Combine that with the fact that he is 6’2, as a freshman, he could be very dangerous in the very near future. He does a really good job of finishing his hands and driving his butt through his snap. Once he gets his legs working he is going to be a force.

Ben Yarbrough. I am not sure what attracted the giant freshman to this camp but Ben was another big framed snapper. Ben has a very long 6’3 frame with arms that can practically hand the punter the ball on a platter. Naturally, I love his ability to get depth with his hands. I also love that he wastes very little movement with the ball and is very direct in getting to his follow through. Once his strength catches up to his body and he starts snapping with more power, Ben could be a huge talent on the rise.

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

CJ Otwell had a fantastic camp, very compact and powerful snapper whose form has come a long way and can really fling the ball back there. Accuracy was on all day, and was a great example and mentor for the younger snappers to look up to. Fantastic personality and energy.

Alex Plasko improved drastically throughout the day. His form made major strides from the beginning of camp until the end. Very coachable and great person.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Bryce Eimer was ripping the ball back all day and barely missed. His form is as almost as perfect as can be. His catchability is off the charts and he can place the ball wherever he wants with great speed. Expect big things out of Bryce in the coming year.

Jake Foggia had an amazing camp and is one of the most calm and confident snappers on the field. He has improved so much throughout the years to where he can now compete with the best in the country. Really like what Jake showed from the first snap to the last and know he will have a very productive senior year.

TJ Latore was the overall camp champion and snapped like it all day. Form is fantastic, and his attitude is even better. Very positive and upbeat snapper who has shown he can snap at a very competitive level. Showed great athleticism in the coverage drills and could make a sudden impact for a college team very soon.

Joe McCabe is a snapper who has shown tremendous improvement year over year during his time with Rubio Long Snapping. Extremely coachable athlete who is very disciplined in his snapping form. Picks everything up like a sponge. Showed good athleticism in coverage drills as well.

Clay Perry is a very physical long snapper who showed a long of power and consistency throughout the day. Great personality and energy from him and showed a lot of upside with his athleticism as well.

Brandon Richards was tremendous all day, throwing very smooth and consistent balls back to the punters. Ceiling is very high for him as he continues to snap harder and gain muscle/size.

Sam Doughty continued to have strong showing at these NJ regional camps with his performance. Extremely accurate and has great placement with his snap. Massive lower body that shows flashes of putting a lot of power behind the ball.

Joseph Santora had a great week leading up to the NJ regional camp, prepping with a virtual lesson and capping it off with a tremendous performance. When he commits to getting his eyes all the way through and snapping with all the power he has, he elevates himself to a completely different, extremely competitive level.

Christian Dionisio showed tons of upside at the NJ regional camp. Very athletic long snapper who has a very strong foundational form. Ball was very consistent and smooth.

Brendan Polay made drastic strides throughout the day. His form became much more technically sound and he showed great coachability and attitude with everything he was adapting real time to his snapping motion.

TOP 2021 LONG SNAPPERS

Zack Taylor was dominant all day. His form is almost as picture perfect as it can be. He very rarely misses and has a good amount of speed and quickness on the ball. Expect to him to be the best Taylor to come out of Rubio Long Snapping when it is all said and done!

Ryan Legere had a tremendous performance throughout the day. Uses his body/form very well, but there is still some opportunity to fine tune timing that will make his ball that already flies back there even faster. If we can dial in his accuracy just a tad he will be a force to deal with.

Ben Wheless really impressed throughout the whole day in NJ. Thick long snapper with a ton of power behind his ball. Catchability is off the charts, and paired up with his accuracy makes him a very strong Long Snapper.

Brian Catanzarite had a very strong performance, capped off with an appearance in the top 6 for the overall camp championship. Very raw and strong long snapper that will climb the rankings very quickly with continued focus on his form.

Caleb Hoffman showed limitless amount of potential throughout the day. Tall and smooth long snapper that can be very consistent and dangerous to the rest of the snappers in his class when he keeps his weight back.

Paul Joseph Meyers is a massive human being who continues to put everything together. He has progressed so much in his years with Rubio Long Snapping and he is inching closer and closer to everything clicking. Continuing to perfect his form for the size of frame he has will be key, but with his work ethic it is something he is up for the challenge for.

Kyle Vaccarella is a tremendous athlete, person and Long Snapper. He rips the ball back to the punter with tons of power. Getting his form tuned in just right so his release point is consistent every time to ensure more consistent accuracy will be key. Once that happens, he will jump to near the top of the rankings.

Owen Labosky had a fantastic day snapping, throwing consistent and very catchable balls throughout the day. Adding more power to his snap to get the speed down will be key, but even may strides in that throughout the camp working on engaging his legs more aggressively/quickly through the various drills.

Ben Cerrato showed great accuracy and consistency throughout the camp. Very rarely saw the ball miss wide left or right and he stayed on the midline throughout the day. Ball is very catchable and with added speed will make major strides.

AJ Franklin is a tall athlete with the opportunity to add a bunch of weight without even noticing. Adding the weight will allow him to put more mass behind his snap, putting more power on the ball. He is form is solid and accuracy and consistency is fantastic.

Stewart Jones had a very good day at the NJ regional camp, snapping very smooth and catchable balls. Accuracy was his strong point, with his form a near second. Adding more power and speed to the ball will be huge for him, but with attentive and coachability there is no doubt he will make improvements in this area.

Joseph Ravelo was very impressive throughout the whole day. His accuracy and athleticism really caught my eye. He has a great frame that can easily add more weight and muscle to it. The one thing we focused on throughout the day is getting the legs fully locked out and engaged. Addressing this will add more speed which will make everything in his snap come together perfectly. Great attitude and coachability was off the charts.

Lucas Vereb demonstrated tons of improvement throughout the day. From the first drill to the last he was beyond coachable and receptive of all instruction given to him. He made great strides and fully expect him to come back a different snapper at the next camp.

Jonathan Wieder had a strong showing and improved drill after drill. Fantastic personality and energy and was ultra-attentive and adaptive with everything given to him. Big strong frame on him that will be paired with his refined form and take him to another level!

TOP 2022 LONG SNAPPERS

Logan Rager continued to show why he is the top Long Snapper in his class. His form is fantastic, accuracy is off the charts, and his speed is impressive given his growing body. Very calm and collected snapper who very rarely seems to get rattled. Expect very big things from him in the future.

Joe Miller made the trip to the North East from his home state of Georgia and reminded everyone why he is towards the top of his class. Very powerful long snapper who is starting to fill out and put on mass. When he is on, he is extremely impressive and there might not be anyone in his class that can compete with him. Just getting to that point and being consistent every single snap is the next hurdle for him.

Rino Monteforte brought his standard contagious energy to this camp. He is always a pleasure to be around, and to top that off he is a heck of snapper as well. Starting to get leaner as he grows, his form is fantastic and his ball is packing a lot of power and accuracy. Excited to see how he continues to develop and jump in the rankings in the near future.

Sean O’Hara continues to show improvement at every single camp he attends. He was snapping very tight spirals with a lot of power and speed behind them. His accuracy continues to improve and he is someone to keep a very close eye on here in the coming years.

Doug Sabol had a great regional camp; extremely smooth long snapper who has the frame and potential to add 30 more pounds without missing a beat. His form is very strong and once he trusts it to snap hard and use all the power and energy he has; his ball will start to pick up speed and take him to the next level.

Nick Bedrossian showed a great deal of upside and potential throughout the day. Extremely athletic long snapper with a tremendous frame. Very long and with added emphasis on form, plus adding some more muscle and snapping hard he will be near the top of his class very soon.

Will Patton performed very well all day. Very smooth snapper with a great frame to add more weight/muscle very easily. Legs are long so he was struggling to get them fully engaged/locked out. Continued work on flexibility will pay dividends for him. Huge upside on him.

Joe Taikina had a strong showing at the NJ Regional camp. Fantastic frame on him that can easily add more weight to it. Getting his legs fully involved will be huge for him to get more speed on the ball. When his accuracy is on though he very rarely misses.

Sammy El Hadidi demonstrated tons of improvement throughout the day. Accuracy is good at this point, but with added work on his form, locking his legs out and snapping hard he has potential to take everything to the next level. Very coachable snapper and pleasure to be around.

Branson Slone had a very strong showing all day. He has a very long frame that can easily carry more weight. Continuing to work on flexibility will be huge to get his eyes through more, as well as keeping his weight back. Would like to see him add more speed to his ball, but was very please with the accuracy he displayed throughout the day.

Luke Skinner showed a lot of promise throughout the day and took something to improve upon from each drill. He has the frame and size to be a very powerful snapper, fine tuning his legs locking out and keeping his weight back will be key for him to take his snapping to the next level.

Anthony Mennona continues to show improvement with every single camp he attends. He has grown about half a foot in the last year, so continuing to work on flexibility through this growth spurt will be very valuable for him. When he commits to lower his butt in his stance, snapping hard and getting his eyes through, it is night and day from when he doesn’t. Has all the tools in place, just needs to have them all work together.

Dalton Rice had a great day and showed large strides throughout it all. Very coachable snapper who was eager to learn as much as he can. Flexibility will be big for him to allow him to lock his legs out fully and get his upper body through. After perfecting his form trusting it to snap as hard as he can will elevate him to the next level.

TOP 2023 LONG SNAPPERS

Robby VanEeuwen’s snapping ability is well beyond his years. He was competing neck and neck with other snappers who are three to four years older than him. Form is fantastic, ball is extremely catchable, and accuracy is unreal. Cannot wait to see where he ends up after he is finished growing. He is definitely a name to remember for the long run.

As always, please follow Rubio Long Snapping on social media (links above) for all TOP 12 Camp invitees, camp updates and ranking announcements.

Here are the SNAP SPEEDS from VEGAS XXXIII. Every Long Snapper was timed a minimum of ten times over the course of the weekend by Rubio and staff members (target testing). Rubio was actually timing Long Snappers throughout the day on Saturday as well (many of whom never even noticed) to get the most accurate average of snap times ever at a VEGAS Event. Bottom line, the times you see below are from 15 yards and averaged with testing, running and agility snaps.

Recap of the GA Fall Camp (12/2/18)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to GA on December 2nd, 2018 for their fall camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this fall with stops in NC, NJ, WA, CA, TX, GA, AZ, IL with everything leading into the biggest and best Long Snapping event in the world, VEGAS XXXIII in January!

Long Snappers from TX, AL, GA, FL, LA, MS, TN & NJ all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was a great time had by all with an excellent group of Long Snappers and parents.

Skinner, Rubio, Shimko

The champion of the camp was Quentin “Mad Dog” Skinner. Mad Dog was simply amazing all day long. He has always had good consistency, but this time, he was great. It was like watching a machine snap the ball back to the punter and/or holder. Every single snap was the same. His body is tremendous, he moves well on his feet and he even helps out the younger kids. LSU got a great one.

The overall speed champion was Joe Shimko. Shimko, an NC State commit, left no doubt he snaps one of the most powerful balls in the country. It is almost shocking when you see just how fast his ball gets back to the punter. In true Shimko fashion, he got better as the day went on. Others get tired, Shimko gets better. Kid is a flat out stud.

Form Letter to get Long Snappers on Post-Season Lists

End of the football season is upon many of us and with that, comes local papers, websites, leagues and states awards presented to all of the top athletes that played this season. I will highlight all because, as you know, the Long Snapper is not always on these lists. This, of course, is simply absurd to me since there is no way you can have a kicker and/or punter earn an award without having a Long Snapper also earn one. As we all know, the ball doesn’t magically appear to the punter and/or holder.

To clear this up and really push it this year, I am creating a template for you to send to your local TV station, newspaper, league, city, district, state officials, etc.

To Whom It May Concern:

This letter is to request that a Long Snapper be added to the ___________________ (All-League, All-City, All-District, All-County, All-State, etc) List. I know the Long Snapper has been left off in the past, but that really shouldn’t be the case any longer. You see, if you are choosing a kicker and punter for this list, you definitely should have a Long Snapper on it as they start the play that the kicker and/or punter finish. It’s simple, without a Long Snapper, the kicker and/or punter simply can’t do their job.

Not having a Long Snapper on your list would be just as bad as not having lineman. Think about it, no doubt you would have a QB or RB on your list but imagine how great they would be if they didn’t have a great line? They would have some major issues throwing and/or running the ball. The lineman do a great deal for the QB and/or the RB. They should get noticed on your list, and they do. Now, it is time to notice the Long Snapper, the person that starts the game winning kick or game changing punt. It is time.

I know an argument can be “Oh, but we really don’t know what to look for in a Long Snapper to actually judge them for our lists.” Good point but I am sure you get many points of views from high school coaches that can help mold your decision. Also, there is a company that travels the country that works just with Long Snappers that would be more than happy to help in order to get the Long Snappers the recognition they deserve. Rubio Long Snapping is this company. They see more Long Snappers than anyone in the country and have had over 1,000 of their Long Snappers go to college/NFL.

I really hope this email sticks with you and is able to get Long Snappers on your list. They deserve it and it is time.

Sincerely, _____________________

Recap of the WA Fall Camp (10/21/18)

Gately, Rubio and Lindsay

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to WA on October 21st, 2018 for their fall camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this fall with stops in NC, NJ, WA, CA, TX, GA, AZ, IL with everything leading into the biggest and best Long Snapping event in the world, VEGAS XXXIII in January!

Long Snappers from OR, WA, CA, AZ, ID & Canada all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was a great time had by all with an excellent group of Long Snappers and parents.

The champions of the camp were Gavin Gately (speed) and JJ Lindsay (overall). Gately came on very strong in the competition and was really consistent. Lindsay was hot all day and absolutely dominate during the finals. He has trimmed up his frame and looked athletic. Smooth Long Snapper with a tight spiral that handles pressure really well. Great camp for Lindsay!

The finals round matchups were Walker Hardan, Alex Sheehan, JJ Lindsay, Gavin Gately, Cole McCutcheon and Jackson Plieth.

You can see the full finals video below….

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

JJ Lindsay

JJ Lindsay was obviously great all day with consistent snaps that took him all the way to the championship! Smooth Long Snapper that has done a great job trimming up his body and increasing his overall athleticism.

James Durr was snapping a smooth and accurate ball all day long. Good attitude and always moving in the right direction.

Josiah Hirsch is a big and strong Long Snapper that can be leader on and off the field. Form is excellent and he has done a great job of improving his power with his punt snapping.

Gavin Gately has a great frame and was snapping a really quick ball. He ended up winning the speed competition with snaps consistently in the .7s. Upside is off the charts.

Walker Hardan is big, powerful and scored the highest RSI of the whole camp. I absolutely love when Walker snaps with full power and follows all the way through.

Alex Sheehan is an accurate and consistent Long Snapper that has all of the tools to be one of the best in his class.

Shaydon Farmer is a raw Long Snapper that is a tremendous athlete. He puts it all together and he can dominate as a Long Snapper in college.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Tommy Sullivan

Tommy Sullivan showed great improvement in WA. He looked like a completely different Long Snapper and I just saw him in July. Ball was moving quick and he is snapping with great power.

Bryce Felt has a great form and is snapping with all of his body. Excellent attitude and he is moving well on his feet.

Cameron Landes is a super long and moves well on his feet. Absolutely love when he snaps with full power and just lets the ball loose.

Jack Laurin has a great attitude and a very accurate snap. Big fan of his overall snapping ability.

Ben Shumock might have the most upside of anyone in the 2020 class. When he is on, he is VERY on. Athletic Long Snapper that could easily do this in college if he puts it all together.

Dakota Lepine showed me some very quick hands and solid athleticism. Always improving.

Cole McCutcheon made it all the way to the finals and was inches from winning the whole thing. He shows good pop and can handle pressure well.

Grayson Pibal is very long and has a great frame to put some good weight on. Easily the smoothest Long Snapper in his class. Massive upside.

Davis Salom is massive, strong and powerful. When he drives his head through and reaches all the way back, he easily dominate his class.

NOTABLE: Bryce Smithson

TOP 2021 LONG SNAPPERS

Luke Basso

Luke Basso was a smooth Long Snapper with one of the best attitudes of anyone at the class. Upside is off the charts. Great kid.

Carson Jensen was an athletic Long Snapper with good upside.

Silas Moreau has some very quick hands and a good attitude.

Jackson Plieth

TOP 2022 LONG SNAPPERS
Jackson Plieth made it to the finals which is very impressive for a freshman (or any class for that matter). Form is excellent and he can already snap the ball in the .8s. Excellent attitude.

Blake Gorski is a good Long Snapper with a great frame and has improved a ton over the past year. Smooth Long Snapper with excellent form.

Anna DeCaprio is strong, powerful and has quick hands. When she gets fully set and gets her back flat, she can really get the ball back to the punter with some good quickness.
