Recap of the NC Spring Camp (3/11/18)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to NC on March 11th, 2018 for their fall camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this spring with stops in CA, NC, WA, NJ, AZ, IL, GA and TX with all camps leading right into VEGAS XXXII on May 12-13, 2018!

Maddie Golden, Rubio and Joe Shimko!

Long Snappers from 13 states all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was overflowing with talent with many committed seniors and also tons of new Long Snappers.

The overall champions of the camp were Maddie Golden (speed) and Joe Shimko (overall). Shimko has won four camps in the past year and continues to be amazing on the field. He is one of the only Long Snappers I have ever seen that actually gets better as the day goes on. The more tired Shimko gets, the better he ends up snapping the ball.

You can see the full finals video with Drew Little, Will Cobb, Christian Johnstone, Joseph Shimko, Aaron Brannock and Bryce Eimer below…

Maddie Golden

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS
Maddie Golden was amazing in NC. His speeds were so good that I had to re-time him several times as they were so good. Easily was snapping sub .75 at 15 yards with tons of snaps in the .6s. He won the overall speed competition with snaps in the low .6s.

Brock Assel is looking very solid (be sure to check out his hair!) and was snapping with great consistency. Upside is very solid and I am loving his work ethic. Air Force got a great one.

Trey Gable was very impressive in NC. Form is excellent, he snaps well under a pressure and he has a tremendous attitude. His snapping motion has minimal wasted movement and he can rip the ball back to the punter.

Notable: Graham Finklea

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Mad Dog

Quentin “Mad Dog” Skinner left absolutely no doubt he is the best junior in the country. Moves well on his feet, he is massive and he is as consistent as anyone in the country. Ball is so smooth yet so powerful. It is a pure joy to watch and LSU is lucky to have him coming in two years. Kid is a flat out stud.

Drew Little was on fire in NC and continues to show me why NC State had no problem offering him a full scholarship during his junior year. Form is excellent and he snaps the ball with great force. So smooth and a tremendous worker that is always improving. Great attitude.

Christian Johnstone can pass an eyeball test from a 1/4 mile away, moves well on his feet and has a great personality. He snaps a really catchable ball that will stick to your hands.

Joe Shimko was incredible in the finals and just ripped the ball back, time after time, right into the three hole. The more exhausted he gets, the more dominant he becomes. It’s just crazy to watch.

Douglas McLaughlin was solid all day in NC. He has a great frame and is one of the most accurate/consistent Long Snappers in the country.

William Wagner has done a great job improving his overall frame and was snapping with a purpose. Keep a very close eye on him at VEGAS XXXII in May.

Luke Hosford was impressive in NC. Form is great and he has excellent size. Watch this kid.

Rhys Suter is coming off an injury and you would never even know it. Form is great and he was having no problem snapping in the mid .7s.

Luke Payne had a solid day in NC with extremely accurate and consistent snaps. The bigger and stronger he gets, the better he will be in the long run.

Brandon Hurst showed me tremendous upside. When he is quick with his snapping motion and snaps hard, he is as good as they get.

Mark Fuchs has great starting form and is smooth when snapping the ball. Leading with his elbows and snapping with full power will help a ton.

Griffin Kaye showed incredible upside and there is no doubt he can snap at the next level.

Liam Crowley did well in NC. Looks like he is continuing to grow and has no problem snapping a ball sub .79. Great upside.

Notables: Peter Griffith, Alex Harper, Carson Knight, Matt Parrino, Justin Pollock, Nathan Smith, Kevin Thompson, Heath Tripp

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Will Albright

Will Albright looked excellent in NC. He moves extremely well on his feet, he has a frame that can easily put on some good weight over the next couple of years.

Zane McCracken is really improving well as he is snapping with confidence and snapping an extremely smooth ball. When his eyes go all the way through, he can easily get sub .75. Getting bigger by the second.

Bryce Eimer made it into the finals with an incredible RSI score. Accuracy is tremendous and he is starting to really snap well under pressure. Great attitude.

Jake Foggia was very solid in NC. Form is coming along nicely and he is beginning to snap with a great deal of confidence. Excellent attitude.

Will Cobb was snapping with excellent accuracy and made it to the finals. Easily could have won and only lost by inches. Gaining power and strength will be huge for Cobb as we head towards VEGAS XXXII in May.

John Bergeron looked very good with excellent form and a solid attitude. Balance is very good and he is always improving.

Byron Floyd is big, strong, powerful and can rip the ball back to the punter sub .75. Really impressive Long Snapper and person.

Ryan Purcell is smooth, accurate and is growing by the second. Great upside.

Peter Haynes is an athletic Long Snapper that is using his whole body very well. Locking down his consistency will be huge as we move ahead.

TOP 2021 and BEYOND LONG SNAPPERS

Nick Walker

Nick Walker looked very solid in NC. He is growing by the second and can already get the ball back to the punter in under .75! The upside on Walker is off the charts if he keeps improving at this rate.

Austin Turner

Austin Turner was excellent in NC. I just saw him a couple of months ago and, I kid you not, he looked like he had grown a foot in the last couple of months. Form is excellent, ball is tight and his upside is off the charts. He could easily be the top Long Snapper in his class at VEGAS XXXII in May.

Aaron Brannock had a great day in NC and made it all the way to the finals. Tremendous accomplishment for a freshman. The less he thinks, the better Brannock will do in the long run.

Oden Pierce showed me good things in NC. Great frame and he moves very well on his feet.

Alex McLaughlin did well in NC with solid athleticism and a nice, catchable ball. If he can eliminate his hitch by VEGAS XXXII in May, he could find himself staring down a TOP 12 Camp Invite.

He is CONSISTENTLY at .68 and on target. The harder he snaps the ball, the better he does. The potential on Shadley is off the charts and he could be a tremendous Long Snapper in college.

Roen McCullough had a solid day in GA. He can pass an eyeball test quickly and snaps a smooth, powerful ball. He has no problem hitting sub .70 and has good accuracy. Moves well on his feet and snaps with a good attitude. Massive upside.

Cade Long looked great in GA. Ball is so clean and crisp every single time to the punter. Cade makes everything look effortless as he continuously snaps the ball back to the punter. The bigger he gets, the more dominant he becomes in his class.

AJ Covan continues to impress me with his accuracy and consistency with his snaps. Notable improvement on his athleticism and speed. Covan is focused and dialed in for VEGAS XXIX and could EASILY win it.

Evan Dvorchik was beyond solid in GA. I saw him recently in WA and he was night and day better this time around. He is snapping with a ton of confidence as his ball hits under .77 consistently. Body is good and I love his attitude.

Jarrett Key was smooth and accurate. Quiet Long Snapper that is always in the mix of dominance. The more he snaps with confidence, the better he does in the long run. VERY good attitude that a coach will love in the coming years.

Brock Assel made it all the way to the finals and could have easily won the whole thing. His accuracy and consistency are off the charts. Large man with decent athleticism for his frame. Great attitude and definitely improving. Should do really well at VEGAS XXIX.

Parker Lefton looked good in GA. Thick bodied with quick hands and a consistent snap in the high .7s.

Camren Wood was VERY impressive in GA. Easily the best day he has had with Rubio Long Snapping. He is doing an excellent job of improving. Over and over throughout the day, I was wooed by Camren and his snapping.

Jake Rudolph is a good athlete with solid upside. When he is on, he is really on and has excellent athleticism.

Notables: Aidan Brock, Heath Crabtree, Dillon Hayes, Noah Hightower, Evan Jennings, Richard Landry, Brock Powers, Eli Spivey, Bailey Williams

Top 2019 Long Snappers
Quentin Skinner is a physically monstrous Long Snapper that is completely dominant and still hasn’t filled all of his potential yet. When it all clicks, Skinner could be one of the greatest Rubio Long Snappers of all time. His hands are quick and his ball is powerful. Strength is off the charts.

Drew Little had a great day in GA. Great form and he is using all of his body well. He had some great snap times throughout the day and left no doubt he has really been working hard and smart. Great upside on Drew.

Christian Johnstone looked very solid in GA with his accurate and consistent snaps. Love his frame, his attitude and his upside. He could easily earn a roster spot at The TOP 12 Camp at VEGAS XXIX.

William Wagner came on strong at the end of the day in GA and left a very good taste in my mouth. Body is thick and he uses a good amount of his body. Keep an eye on him.

Chad Becker looked great in GA. His snaps get out of the gate very quickly and he has no problem getting the ball under .7. Upside on Becker is huge. Watch him closely at VEGAS XXIX.

Codey Bennett is a strong Long Snapper with quick hands and a consistent, accurate snap. He moved well on his feet and was impressive throughout the day in GA. He is definitely one to watch at VEGAS XXIX.

Mason Napper has a good frame and a smooth snap. Very good potential and I like his attitude. He has the ability to be the real deal in just a couple months. Napper might be the sleeper of his class.

JC Vega is an incredible athlete with excellent upside. Snaps speeds are good and bordering on great. Lots and lots of upside.

Zach Lassiter made it deep into the finals and could have walked away with the victory. Built long with a frame that will hold some good weight over the next couple of years. Handled pressure well.

Notables: Carson Crisp, Cade Degraw, Ford Hayes, Tripp Heath, Graham Leslie, Dylan McCardel, Cody Olszewski, Justin Wright

Top 2020 Long Snappers and beyond….
Zane McCracken was by far the best 2020 Long Snapper in attendance and it wasn’t even close. Form is exceptional as he has been with Rubio Long Snapper for about five years! He can already snap in the .6s which is exceptional for his age. Zane is well above his age for talent level.

Jackson Worthen has great form and a solid attitude. Ball is quick and his overall use of his body is very solid for his age.

Will Benton was solid all day in GA. I like his attitude and the way he snaps the ball. Fine tuning his overall form and locking down his spiral will push him way up the rankings.

Eli Pyrz is a consistent Long Snapper with very quick hands. He moved well on his feet.

Kneeland Hibbett is a 2021 Long Snapper that was impressive for his first camp with Rubio Long Snapping. Good overall form and a solid attitude. He is already using his whole body well. Good upside.

Notables: Jake Sayer, Colby Cox, Bryan Applefield

Recap of the GA Summer Camp (7/12/16)

10150696_968472283228902_7682949758643236322_nRubio Long Snapping traveled to Georgia on July 12th, 2016 for their summer camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be back in Georgia on December 18th. You can register for that camp HERE

Long Snappers from MS, OH, GA, IL, FL, MA, TN, SC, TX, AL & VA all traveled to get the best instruction and the most exposure possible for Long Snapping.

Raymond Freeman

Raymond Freeman

The overall camp champion was RAYMOND FREEMAN (FL, ’17)! Freeman caught fire early in the day and never stopped. Came close in the accuracy contest, did well through the agility section and was outstanding in the speed competition. He left no doubt in the end that he was one of the top Long Snappers in the country.

Raymond snaps with great power and can get the ball back to the punter in under .7 very consistently. I like his size and he is moving well on his feet. The more he snaps the ball with absolute full power and confidence, the better he does. TONS of upside on this Long Snapper from Florida.

Top 2017 Long Snappers

Jacob Potter

Jacob Potter

Jacob Potter was solid all day long in GA. Very thick and strong Long Snapper with great power and very quick hands. Ball really jumps out of the gate and gets back to the punter in a jiffy. Continuing to work on his athleticism will just continue to move him up the ladder.

Quinn Stephenson is a solid Long Snapper with a good frame and a smooth snap. Ball is like butter coming back to the punter. Being quicker with his get off will push him up the rankings.

Matthew Newsome was impressive in GA. He is a big Long Snapper with good power and a nice, accurate snap. Good potential and I like his attitude. Keep a very close eye on him

Chris Clore continues to impress me with his attitude, dedication to his size and the smoothness of his ball. Driving his elbows and snapping with confidence will be huge as move towards XXIX.

Tommy Zozuz did well for his first Rubio Long Snapping camp. Upper body is very solid and he can get the ball back in the high .7s. Love to see him focus on not rocking to start the process and getting his lower half fully involved to gain more speed.

Matthew Smith is coming along nicely and will dominate once he gets his butt down a bit more and allows his eyes to rip all the way through to the punter.

NOTABLES: Javier King, Dillon Manning, Ben Shirley

Clay James

Clay James

Top 2018 Long Snappers

Clay James had a great day in GA. Body is thick, strong and he has great form. Really starting to lock in and get laser focused. Confidence is coming along nicely and he can catch a groove. Snapping with full power at all times is the key for James. Excellent attitude and always improving.

Cade Long was only able to participate in half the camp but still was able to show his full dominance. Ball is tight and really rips back to the punter. Continuing to put on some size and make sure he is snapping with confidence will be huge as we head into TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE.

Jarret Key was impressive in GA. Body is strong and he is smooth. Times are in the high .7s and I want them in the low .7s by XXIX. Love to see him snap KNOWING he is one of the best rather than hoping he is. Kid has very good upside and attitude.

Bryce Chason is absolutely dripping with potential. The better he handles pressure, the higher he will go. Keep a VERY close eye on this Long Snapper from GA.

Parker Lefton looked very good with his snapping (when he is snapping with full power) and his body is coming along nicely. Love his attitude.

NOTABLES: Zac Castano, Camren Wood

Quentin Skinner

Quentin Skinner

Top 2019 Long Snappers

Quentin Skinner was in attendance for half the camp but was dominant enough to show he was the top 2019 Long Snapper in attendance. Built like a brick house and can snap in the .6s when he is fully following through. Very strong Long Snapper with great form. Excited to see the future of this Long Snapper. Works hard.

Thomas Johnstone has excellent upside and definitely headed in the right direction. Built very long and has a frame that will hold another 30 lbs in the next two years. Ball is smooth and he has great form. Keep a very close eye on this kid.

Brendan Beattie was throwing heat all day in GA. Form is good and he has strong hands. Needs to really focus on locking down his spiral or the ball will be very hard to catch for the punter.

NOTABLES: Luke Payne

Zane McCracken

Zane McCracken

Top 2020 Long Snappers

Zane McCracken was easily the best 2020 Long Snapper in attendance. Zane is a long time Rubio Long Snapper and you can easily tell. Form is darn near flawless and he can already throw the ball in the .8s, which is very impressive for his age. The bigger he gets over the next four years, the better he will be. Kid is VERY good for his age or for someone a couple years older.

Eli Pyrz showed me some good upside. Love his size and how well he listens. Watch this kid over the next couple of years.

Notables: James Zurawski

FBU TOP GUN RECAP

Over 60 Long Snappers came out to the FBU TOP GUN camp in Ohio to compete against each other for spots to the FBU 7th & 8th All-Star games along with the granddaddy of them all, the US ARMY ALL-AMERICAN BOWL in San Antonio, TX.

TOP GUN 2015

On the first day, the two best Long Snappers in attendance, John Shannon (’16, IL) and Johnny Den Bleyker (’16, CA) were chosen to battle for the first All-American spot. They went head to head on The Rubio Target to see who would be the first to five. These two didn’t disappoint with both scoring on each snap. Eventually, John Shannon couldn’t be beat and earned the first All-American spot.

Jacob Zuhr FBU

Jacob Zuhr with Erik Richards of the Army All-American Bowl

For the youth, four 2020 Long Snappers were chosen to battle. Kameron Hawkins (CA), Jacob Zuhr (FL), Jackson Worthen (KY and Zane McCracken (GA) competed for one spot for the FBU All-Star game. The snaps were crisp and all did very well but the best of the best on this day was Jacob Zuhr and he was selected to be an FBU All-Star!

On day two of the FBU TOP GUN camp, the Long Snappers were taken through several competitions involving speed, accuracy and athleticism. After two days of charting, the top four 2016 Long Snappers were Jake Cesear (CA), Geron Eatherly (TX), Ben Wyatt (NC) and Johnny Den Bleyker (CA). Geron Eatherly battled Ben Wyatt to start off the finals and both did very well but Eatherly proved to be too much for Wyatt.

Next up was Jake Cesear against Johnny Den Bleyker. Both started slow but then it heated up quickly with Den Bleyker coming out on top. Snaps were crisp and on target for both Long Snappers.

Army All-Americans 2015

Army All-Americans Johnny Den Bleyker and John Shannon

The finals was Eatherly vs Den Bleyker. One of these two would be the final US ARMY ALL-AMERICAN Long Snapper. These two Long Snappers did not disappoint with both averaging in the low .7s with the ball being right on target. In the end, Den Bleyker proved his dominance and earned the spot.

For the 2020 Long Snappers, the final four to compete for the last spot were Kameron Hawkins (CA), Zane McCracken (GA), Michael Bastuga (IN) and Jackson Worthen (KY). It came down to Hawkins vs Worthen in the finals with Worthen being nails and earning the spot. I was VERY impressed with this group of incoming 8th graders. The future is bright with Rubio Long Snapping! (You should see the form on these kids!)

Congratulations to all of the Long Snappers in attendance and I wanted to give a couple shootouts to some of the guys that really stood out in my eyes….

Jackson Worthen FBU

2017: Ryan Culbertson, Paul Lawless, Matthew Smith

2018: Jarrett Key

2019: Quentin Skinner and Rhys Suter

Rubio Long Snapping will be partnered with FBU again in 2016 with new locations being posted within a couple months and camps starting in March. See you soon.

Rubio Long Snapper Drew McCracken Commits to UAB on Full Scholarship

drew-mccracken4079Long time Rubio Long Snapper Drew McCracken (GA, ’15) has committed to UAB on full scholarship! It was great receiving the text “I have just committed to UAB on full scholarship! Thank you for everything. I couldn’t have done it without you!”

McCracken, who is an EVENT ELITE member and has attended 10 Rubio Long Snapping camps over his high school career, will be taking over for Rubio Long Snapper Dallas Noriega!

McCracken is an extremely athletic Long Snapper that can snap in the .6s. He is quiet and has tremendous form. He will be a great fit for UAB.

Congratulations to him and his family (he has a little brother, Zane, class of 2020 who has been with Rubio Long Snapping for two years so watch out!).
