Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Blake Ferguson!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: sound of bad taste + an old athlete issue and northern birds wish they had it + splash of character in Grumpy Old Men.

(“Blah” would be the sound you make when you taste something bad + an old athlete would have aches. Blah + Aches = Blake. Then, northern birds would be cold and want to be warm, they could be warm with fur. Then one of the characters in Grumpy Old Men was Gustafson. Fur + Splash of Gustafson = Ferguson)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Blake Ferguson (GA, ’15) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Blake is a long time Rubio Long Snapper and the current #1 for the class of 2015. He was flat out dominant all weekend in Vegas and this honor is well deserved!

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Justin Garza!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: Another way to say you barely made it and a POSSIBLE nickname of Rocky Dennis’ “step-dad”

(Another way to say you barely made it would be to say you were Just In Time…Justin. Sam Elliott’s character in Mask was named Gar. His possible nickname would be Garza.)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Justin Garza (CA, ’14) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Garza is an extremely intense Long Snapper that moves beyond well on his feet and snaps a rocket back to the punter. Great attitude.

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: JC Everett!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: 1st part of a store that sounds like it is worth less than a dollar and if you were to go 570240 inches up but take away a letter

(A store that sounds like it is worth less than a dollar is JC Penny because of “penny” First part is JC. Then, a place almost nine miles (570240 inches) high is Mt. Everest. Take away a consonant “S” and you have everett)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper JC Everett  (AR, ’14) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

JC is a terrific Long Snapper that is built like a brick house. He is strong and snaps the ball with incredible speed. He might have the quickest hands in his class. Great attitude and he does exactly what you tell him to do.

JC Everett

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Wyatt “Tucker” Smith!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: Hemorrhoids would be an occupational hazard of this job minus a consonant and this character’s wife was a liar (so was he) w/ good balance.

(A trucker sits all day and, therefore can get hemorrhoids. So, take the “r” off trucker and you have TUCKER. Then, Angelina Jolie played Mrs. Smith in Mr. and Mrs. Smith. One scene has her balancing on a chair cleaning drapes. She was an undercover agent and so was her husband. Bottom line, last name Smith.)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Tucker Smith (he also goes by Wyatt, but Tucker worked better for my clue) (MS, JC/14…originally a 2013 but since he is a JC he had the option of staying another year and he obviously took it) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Tucker is headed to his second JC year and is an absolute phenomenal Long Snapper. Snaps well below .7 on a consistent basis and is built like a D1 athlete already. Keep a very close eye on him as he could get picked up at anytime since he is a qualifier out of high school.

Tucker Smith

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Seth Combs!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: Someone with a sigmatism wouldn’t like his first name and if you think I do this in the morning, you have some issues.

(A sigmatism is another word for lisp and anyone with a lisp wouldn’t embrace saying the name Seth due to the TH ending and I would never comb my hair in the morning)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Seth Combs (IL, ’14) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Seth is a tremendous Long Snapper with excellent form and athletic ability. The bigger he gets, the better he will be.

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Christian Samarzich!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: German K/P w/ good amount of sun & pitcher/barman for the Sox + 2nd smallest planet + result of Toxicodendron radicans

(German K/P is Chris Sailer, who is beyond German, + a tan = Christian. Then, pitcher/barman for Sox was Sam Malone of the TV show Cheers + 2nd smallest planet is Mars + result of Toxicodendron radicans, which is poison ivy, would be itch….so Sam+Mars+Itch = Samarzich

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Christian Samarzich (CA, ’14) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Samarzich is a work horse with good frame, solid build and always improving. You ask him to do something and consider it done.

Christian Samarzich

Congratulations to Event Elite Member: Kyle Murphy!

Did you figure out the clues?

EVENT ELITE member: last name of an American hero with good aim & last name of WHERE a smooth, slightly chubby lefty used to hit the ball. (Chris Kyle is an American hero that is know for his ability as a sniper and Tony Gwynn played for the San Diego Padres and they used to play at Jack Murphy Stadium)

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Kyle Murphy (NC, ’14) on being the next member of the EVENT ELITE! The EVENT ELITE will be joining the TOP 12 to form the invite only, TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp this summer.

Kyle has a tremendous frame, moves very well on his feet and is dripping with potential. Some fine tuning and he could easily be top 5 in his class!

The Long Snapping Instructors in Vegas

As you know, I choose a couple Rubio Long Snappers in college and the pros to help me out at my camps. Vegas is the biggest one and I always get the most requests from athletes wanting to help out. I am sure it has a bit to do with me and a lot to do with Vegas:)

My rationale for who gets to go is simple, you represent me well and you are chosen. Simple. I will check Twitter, Facebook and anything else I can view…if I see anything that does not represent who I am and what Rubio Long Snapping is all about, you will not get brought on staff.  My Long Snappers are among the best in the country, however a major factor for choosing my staff members is based upon their personality.

I just received this email from a parent and I had to share….

“Thanks for a great camp.  I know you are probably flooded with emails following the camp so I will try and make it brief.  I just wanted to share a story from the past weekend.  My son _____ was somewhat disappointed in his performance during the camp; he has been working his butt off preparing.  As we sat in the airport awaiting our plane my son was still in his Rubio Shirt.  Three of your instructors, kickers Matt Anderson (Sailer guy), Andrew Endicott (Sailer guy) and long snapper Nick Monaghan, still in their red shirts, saw him and immediately came over to him.  They immediately started asking him about the camp and long snapping, offering advice and encouragement.  They asked what his rank was and my son kind of mumbled the # under his breath; all three started laughing about their rankings when they started out.  They told him how the kids at the top in the beginning were not always the ones there in the end.  Andrew Endicott gave the best advice when he told Jack “this is a game of attrition, the ones that stick with it, work hard, hit the camps are the ones who finish the highest in the end.”  They further talked about staying out of trouble and keeping your grades up; utilizing real examples of kids they knew with a ton of talent, who blew it because of bad choices.

I truly could not have scripted a better scenario for that time and place.  A nice hello would have been sufficient and made him feel good, but they stayed there talking to him for about twenty minutes.  I got the feeling they took immense pride in those red shirts and they felt that it was their turn to repay the mentorship that Rubio Long Snapping  / Chris Sailer Kicking staff had given them.  I flew home with one motivated kid ready to start preparing for his next camp and the upcoming season.  Thanks again for running a great program.”

That email makes my heart full but it gets better. I forwarded it Rubio Long Snapper Nick Monaghan, one of the instructors in Vegas and here was his response….

“We did what the instructors before us did when we were campers.”

And the cycle continues….LOVE it and my heart is full.

Welcome to Rubio Long Snapping.

Thank you

Rubio Long Snapper Scotty Thompson Receives Honor at NC State!

Long time Rubio Long Snapper Scott Thompson has been chosen to be put on NC State’s on Leadership Council!

This is obviously a huge honor for Scott and I am beyond proud of him. To paraphrase…

“The Leadership Council is a position of respect,” said first-year head coach Dave Doeren.  “It empowers these guys.  This position is not a recognition of athletic ability, but leadership ability. I will go to this group with decisions that I want player input on and if a player wants something brought to a coach they will go to the council and the council will bring it to us.  It gives them a voice.”

Scott has been with Rubio Long Snapping since his 8th grade year out in Southern California. He ended up a TOP 12er,  #2 in his graduating class, received a full scholarship to NC State and will be the starter for the third year in a row!

Congratulations once again to Scotty Thompson!

Rubio Long Snapper Matt Boggs (LA, ’13) Commits to TCU!

Rubio Long Snapper and TOP 12er Matt Boggs (LA, ’13) has committed to TCU as a preferred walk-on! This was his dream school for as long as he can remember so this was an easy decision for him.

Boggs is a tremendous Long Snapper and person. He is extremely smooth with his overall form and motion. He is definitely one of those Long Snapper that makes it look effortless. High academics and an all around student make him a great pick for TCU.

Boggs told me “Words cannot express how much I appreciate everything you have done for me.  I would never have gotten this far without your help!” Love to hear things like that from my Long Snappers.

Congratulations once again to Matt Boggs!

Long time Rubio Long Snapper  and TOP 12er Nolan Frese of the Houston Cougars has earned CUSA All-Academic Honors!

What is even more impressive is that this is the second year in a row he has received this honor. Anyone that has played sports at the collegiate level knows this is not an easy task to say the least.

Frese looks to start this year and replace graduated NFL free agent Brandon Hartson.

Congratulations once again to Nolan Frese!

Long time Rubio Long Snapper Justin Drescher Signs New Contract with New Orleans Saints!

Long time Rubio Long Snapper Justin Drescher has signed a new, four year deal with the New Orleans Saints!

Drescher is a 2006 graduate out of Southlake HS in TX. He attended many Rubio Long Snapping camps and was a TOP 12 member that finished a 5 Star Long Snapper. Went to Colorado on full scholarship and never stopped improving.

He is coming off a terrific year where his punter made All-Pro. Originally mentioned here, there is no doubt Drescher should have received All-Pro as well. Seriously, I am pretty sure the punter never kicked a ball that Drescher didn’t basically hand to him.

When I congratulated Drescher on his new contract his response to me was something that fills your heart….”Thanks Rubio. I appreciate what you have done for me and helped me get to this point.” Embrace

Congratulations to Justin Drescher!!!

Rubio Long Snapper Matt Bayliss Commits to the University of Texas at San Antonio

Rubio Long Snapper Matt Bayliss (OK, ’13) has committed to the University of Texas at San Antonio as a preferred walk-on!

Bayliss, a TOP 12 member, is a massive talent that turned down several other smaller school scholarships and larger school preferred walk-ons. He chose UTSA for it’s location, solid fan base, move of conference and staff. He should compete for a starting postion immediately in San Antonio.

I am very proud of Bayliss as he has come with his snapping. He has always had the length and now he has the form that enabled to get this opportunity. Great person and I wish him the best.

Congratulations to Matt Bayliss!

Rubio Long Snapper Scott Daly Earns Honor at Notre Dame

Former top ranked Rubio Long Snapper, TOP 12er and Herbalife 24 Chris Rubio Award winner Scott Daly has been chosen by his teammates to be on Notre Dame’s Unity Council.

The Unity Council, which is made up of 10 players, are leaders and spokespersons for the team. They will sit down with Notre Dame Head Coach Kelly every other week and discuss in house topics and whether something might need to change with the team.

This is obviously quite an honor for Daly being that he is just a freshman and, I hate to even say it, because he is “only” a Long Snapper.

Congratulations to Rubio Long Snapper Scott Daly!

A Long, Long Road For Rubio Long Snapper Dallas Noriega

A couple years ago, Rubio Long Snapper Dallas Noriega was at the top of his game. He had been with me for quite some time and was now a 5 Star Long Snapper headed for a major D1 University – Arizona St.

He was flying high to say the least. He was dominating camps, a member of the TOP 12 (he even won the annual TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Belly Flop Contest), a hit with his personality and was even known to bust out a cart wheel now and then. If you have seen Dallas, not a slight figure, you would be even more impressed.

Then, shortly before he was headed off to college, he was called by his new coach and informed that he hadn’t taken the right classes to get into that particular college. His grades and scores were fine, but he still needed to take one additional class to be allowed on the team. Bubble burst.

Dallas would not be going to ASU anytime soon. College football went from a tremendous dream being achieved to a nightmare moving farther and farther away.

Dallas enrolled at a local Junior College and didn’t let his dream stop. He stayed in shape, kept working on his snapping and became even better than before. Schools were knocking on the door. They wanted him on campus immediately. Conversations would be as follows “Rubio, he is a JC kid, he can leave whenever, so we want him now.” Issue, Dallas wasn’t a qualifier out of High School and never submitted the paperwork to do so. Therefore, he HAD TO obtain his A.A. degree from the local JC before moving on. Dallas would have to remain in Junior College for the full two years.

Dallas would not be going to college anytime soon. College football went from a tremendous dream being achieved to a nightmare moving farther and farther away.

Dallas pushed ahead. After a dominant first season, he started off-season training with the team with the new mindset that he would have to stay all two years at his Junior College. He could do it. Nothing would stop him now that everything was so clearly laid out for him now.

In April of 2012, Dallas was driving when another driver ran a red light, crashed into his car and destroyed his ankle. Yet again, Dallas’s dreams of playing college football were slipping away. Dallas, his dreams, his hope and his ankle were crushed. This was the point in a person’s life where they either throw up their hands and say “Why me?!?!” or when they pound their chest and say “Let’s go!!!!”

Dallas chose the latter.

He rehabilitated his ankle like a wild man, stayed positive and NEVER stopped pursuing his dream. Nothing, and I mean nothing, would stop him. His hard work paid off. Earlier this month, Dallas was awarded a scholarship to a 4 year college to play college football!

Dallas NEVER gave up. His dad, Ralph, told me he has never heard Dallas say the words “quit” or “I am tired.” I don’t doubt it.

I could not be more proud of a Long Snapper or person. Dallas is a true inspiration for all and I am proud to say I know him and he is a Rubio Long Snapper.

Dallas Noreiga and Rubio

10 Common Questions Regarding the Spring Vegas Event

1. How do I get invited to the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? You don’t! It is not an invite only camp. It is a first come, first served Event. You register and you are in.

2. How old do you have to be to attend the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? All levels of High School through second year of Junior College. I will allow younger if it is pre-approved through me. Seniors should still be attending since we will be right in the middle of the third wave of recruiting.

3. Is the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas only for advanced Long Snappers? NO, it is open to all levels of Long Snappers. The early you go, the better you will be in the long run. Trust me, I have seen it countless times. Don’t be the guy who waits and then blows it because they were too nervous. Go early and get your butterflies knocked out sooner than later.

4. Will there be small group sessions this spring? Yes! There will be a 4-5 pm and 5-6 pm session. They are one hour blocks meant to knock off the rust, get some last minute fine-tuning in and get used to the fields, brand new football and myself.

5. Is there a hotel you recommend for the Long Snappers and their parents? Yes, we have a group rate with the JW Marriott. It is about one mile from the fields and is superb.

6. When should we book flights? Plan on arriving on Friday and either leaving after 7 pm on Sunday evening (camp will end at 5 pm) or Monday morning.

7. Is there a rental car company you recommend? Yes, for rental cars, follow these steps: Go to www.enterprise.com, Fill in the information as dates and times needed, In the optional area you will add L540231 and then click continue, The next screen will ask for a PIN which is RUB, Choose your car and enjoy the discount.

8. If I have spring ball on friday, can I arrive on Saturday morning? Yes, but I MUST be notified as early as possible so I can put you in a later group on Saturday.

9. Why is the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas important? It is a major one for the final recruitment of seniors (look at #2), beyond important for the underclassmen as their recruiting will just be going into high gear and your only chance to be selected to the EVENT ELITE (the EVENT ELITE will join The TOP 12 at the Invite Only TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE camp this summer in CA)

10. What do I get for attending the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? The best on Long Snapping instruction in the world, a Rubio Long Snapping shirt, a profile page with Rubio Long Snapping, a YouTube video to be used at your discretion, a recruiting and nutritional seminar at the hotel, a chance to make the EVENT ELITE and the winner of the camp receives one year of free Rubio Long Snapping camps (accommodations and transportation not included).
