Major Positive Vibes Needed for Rubio Long Snapper Jordan Frese

Frese, JordanMany of you, especially if you are from Texas, know the Frese family. Mike and Kami, the parents, have produced two amazing Rubio Long Snappers in Nolan (University of Houston) and Jordan (Texas A&M). The Frese family has been with Rubio Long Snapping for almost ten years at this point. Great family and always willing to help out the first time parents, kids and anyone else that needed some assisistance.

Now, they need some help from you….

On Sunday afternoon, I received a text from Mike that said “Can u please call me when u have a minute.” I called and we spoke for some time. Here is what I was told (I am going to cut and paste from their Facebook so all of the details are correct….

Family & friends
After a week or so of testing and medical procedures, Jordan has been diagnosed with a heart problem that will prevent his participation in competitive athletics for a minimum of six months and most likely a full year.

A team administered stress EKG a few weeks ago showed some higher pressures inside his heart chambers, and led to an MRI followed by a heart cath procedure this morning in College Station. The immediate diagnosis is pericarditis, which is inflammation and restriction from the pericardium – the sack that contains your heart. Accompanying this is suspected myocarditis which is inflammation of the heart muscle itself. Both are likely caused by a virus in his past, but there is no real way to know the cause, other than it has probably been going on for about two years.

Interestingly, he is in such good shape that he never displayed any telling symptoms. His body compensated through adaptation of his SVC and IVC (the vena cavas) which are the primary veins in and out of the heart. His are literally 2-3 times larger than normal, and it is this development that will limit competitive athletic activities for the foreseeable future. The biggest concern would be a rupture of one of the vena cavas due to hard contact or extreme exertion.

Immediately, he is no longer able to participate in athletics or moderately strenuous activities. He will begin taking two medicines designed to fight the inflammation and repair any fibrosis (scarring) of his pericardium. After six months, he will undergo another MRI to evaluate the progress. How his SVC and IVC’s respond will determine any athletic future for him, but that response and any timeline of response is a complete medical unknown.

Any personal decisions regarding his long term interest in pursuing athletics as well as how he will proceed at A&M are all things we will be discussing over the next weeks and will keep you updated. For now, he will remain a part of the A&M football program at least through the bowl game season.

Please pray for Jordan’s long term health and recovery and for His guidance in our decision making regarding Jordan’s future. Thank you for your concern, and giving us some privacy while we sort through all the facts coming our way over the next several months.

Today, we are thanking God that his participation in athletics helped identify this issue early as well as that he wasn’t taken from us early due to that participation. God still has a plan for Jordan, it’s just gonna take a little time to figure it all out. We’ll keep you posted.
– Mike & Kami

drew-mccracken4079Long time Rubio Long Snapper Drew McCracken (GA, ’15) has committed to UAB on full scholarship! It was great receiving the text “I have just committed to UAB on full scholarship! Thank you for everything. I couldn’t have done it without you!”

McCracken, who is an EVENT ELITE member and has attended 10 Rubio Long Snapping camps over his high school career, will be taking over for Rubio Long Snapper Dallas Noriega!

McCracken is an extremely athletic Long Snapper that can snap in the .6s. He is quiet and has tremendous form. He will be a great fit for UAB.

Congratulations to him and his family (he has a little brother, Zane, class of 2020 who has been with Rubio Long Snapping for two years so watch out!).

MAJOR Positive Vibes Needed for Rubio Long Snapper Gabriel Miller

For the past couple of weeks, I have been communicating back and forth with Rubio Long Snapper Gabriel Miller of Nebraska and his mother. Gabe tweaked his back prior to season and was having some issues. I honestly thought it would pass with some good rest, it didn’t.

This morning, Miller is having major back surgery (5:30 am pst) and it will last for several hours. He will be having a lumbar laminectomy with a spinal fusion. He has an exposed nerve that is causing numbness and now some hamstring weakening.

Bottom line, I want the Rubio Long Snapping family to pull together and help Gabe out through this ordeal. You can shoot him a message on Twitter at @GabeMiller_LS or even mail him a quick note at 2021 G Street, Lincoln, NE. 68510.

Gabe, and his family, need us all right now. Any of you that know Gabe, know he is always with a smile and I don’t want today, or the following weeks, to be any different.

Is Your Son Ready for a Rubio Long Snapping Camp?

“Rubio, I’m nervous my son is not ready for your camp since he is just starting out”

“Rubio, all your camps have a ton of great Long Snappers and I don’t know if my son will be able to handle it”

“Rubio, how do I know if my son is ready for your camps?”

“Rubio, what skill level is required for your camps?

There are all very common questions that I get continuously throughout the year. The answer is simple: your child is ready. Now. Yup, now.

Here is the thing…Yes, there are many great Long Snappers at my camps, but do you know how they became great, by going when they weren’t great.

For every amazing Long Snapper you see, I can EASILY show you film of them being absolutely terrible. Everyone starts from somewhere. Like I always say, no one comes out of their mother snapping a .75. It takes time, it takes good form, it takes effort, it takes working hard AND smart. It happens. It always does.

Great example is Rubio Long Snapper Taybor Pepper of Michigan St. The first video is from 8th grade where he is, let’s just say, not really great. The second is from this past summer where he is, lets just say, phenomenal. (P.S. I could show you HUNDREDS of examples like Taybor)

Bottom line, there is no time like the present to get your kid to a Rubio Long Snapping campThe sooner I see him and get him going with the proper form, the better he will be in the long run. If he goes to someone who doesn’t know what they are doing first, I have to correct all of the mistakes then start building the form to greatness.

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)
  • My rankings are based off of this blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
  • If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
  • All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.

For the rankings section, simply go to RubioLongSnapping.com  rollover PLAYER RANKINGS, rollover which CLASS you are looking for, click that CLASS, click LONG SNAPPERS and find your name.
