Recap of the CA Fall Camp (10/28/18)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to CA on October 28th, 2018 for their fall camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this fall with stops in NC, NJ, WA, CA, TX, GA, AZ, IL with everything leading into the biggest and best Long Snapping event in the world, VEGAS XXXIII in January!

Long Snappers from CA, CO, LA & AZ all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was a great time had by all with an excellent group of Long Snappers and parents.

The champion of the camp was Jack Landherr! This recent UCLA Bruin commit was actually the speed and overall champion of the entire camp. Ball hovered in the low .7s and even dipped into the .6s when he really let loose. His frame is excellent and he is smooth on his feet. Hard worker that has all of the tools to be a great Bruin!

The finals round matchups were Cruz Rubio, Jack Landherr, Kameron Hawkins, Nate Hedberg, Matt Tokos, Max Alvarez. You can see the full finals video below….

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Nathan Weneta (Purdue), Jack Landherr (UCLA), Ryan Aguilar (ARMY), Peter Bowden (Wisconsin)

Jack Landherr was dominant from start to finish. Overall winner of the camp plus speed champion.

Ryan Aguilar is fantastic and was absolutely ripping the ball back to the punter. Love his attitude.

Nathan Weneta was smooth as possible and was snapping with good confidence. Excellent athlete

Peter Bowden is a tremendous Long Snapper that has a very catchable ball and flawless motion.

Andrew Gonneville has excellent follow through and snaps with good power. Strong hands and upper body. Great upside.

Matt Tokos is a JC Long Snapper with quick release, great attitude and a smooth ball.

Nathan Hedberg made it deep into the finals and was inches away from winning the whole thing.

Max Alvarez showed great promise and a nice, tight spiral. Excited to see what he can do in Vegas.

Aidan Rosette might have the most upside of anyone in his class. Kid is a monster just waiting to erupt.

Matt Rhodes is big, strong, smooth and has a great attitude.

Robert Fiene showed absolute waves of brilliance. Kid can rip the ball back when he is on.

Arturo Meza was impressive for his first camp and right on the cusp of greatness.

Kameron Hawkins

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS
Kameron Hawkins was hot all day. Kid snaps one of the most consistent balls in the country. Every single snap looks exactly the same. He is just a machine

Cruz Rubio is strong, moves very well on his feet and is right on the cusp of dominating.

Cruz Rubio

Michael Munoz has the body of a college tight-end right now and still has another year to go. Smooth Long Snapper with unlimited potential.

Bryce Felt improves like there is no tomorrow. Got very hot in the afternoon and was ripping it back.

Cody White is a Long Snapper with a good attitude and an accurate ball.

Tony Villarreal is a big Long Snapper that can snap a D1 ball when he is on and he is almost always on.

Trevor Heid has great upside and is very close to greatness.

Michael Munoz

John Bergeron has a tremendous attitude, a smooth snap and some very quick hands. Getting his butt down is going to be massive for him.

Andrew Wells is strong, powerful and I love his attitude.

Aaron Estrada is a great athlete and is always in contention with his class. Going to be very good.

Davis Salom is a massive human being that will do better the less he thinks.

Michael Tokos might have the quickest hands in his class.

Sean Farfan is right on the edge of being one of the top Long Snappers in his class. Speeding up his hands will help a ton.

JT Greep

JT Greep had a great day in CA. Absolutely love when he snaps with full power. Ball is great. Really did well athletically.

Chris Kent is a big Long Snapper that was snapping with a lot of confidence and power. Impressive day for Kent.

Mason Hutton might have the most potential of anyone in his class. Built extremely long and has all of the tools to get to the top of his class at VEGAS XXXIII.

Valentino Nguyen is athletic, quick and always improving.

TOP 2022 and beyond LONG SNAPPERS

Michael Orona

Michael Orona is a thick Long Snapper that can already get the ball back in the mid .8s. Very good attitude.

Brenden Smith is an athletic Long Snapper that listens well, is coachable and really close to having it all click. Strong hands.

Chase Martin is a 2023 Long Snapper that snapped with great force and power.

Konner Hawkins is a 2026 Long Snapper with form that is on par with a Varsity Long Snapper AND HE IS IN FIFTH GRADE!!!

Recap of the CA Summer Camp (6/28/18)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to CA on June 28th, 2018 for their summer camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this spring with stops in CA, NC, GA, IL, SC (Top Gun Camp), CA (College, TOP 12, Underclassmen Invitational) and TX!

Long Snappers from three states all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping. The camp was a great time had by all with an excellent group of Long Snappers and parents.

The champions of the camp were Kameron Hawkins (speed) and Simon Samarzich (overall)! Samarzich has recently committed to Washington State on full scholarship and he proved in CA that the Cougs got a great one. He is one of the most consistent Long Snappers ever to go through Rubio Long Snapping. Ball hovers in the low .7s at all times, he can move well on his feet and he has, easily, one of the greatest attitudes of all Rubio Long Snappers in the country. Samarzich is the real deal and just never stops improving.

The finals round matchups were Simon Samarzich (57.14), Cruz Rubio (41.56), Bryce Felt (41.03), Andrew Gonneville (38.82), Jack Landherr (34.21) and Aaron Estrada (33.33). You can see the full finals video below….

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Simon Samarzich

Simon Samarzich was a machine all day in CA. The WSU Cougars got a great one on and off the field. This kid has the ability to be successful in whatever he chooses to do in life.

Peter Bowden was on fire all day and has already been moved to a 5 Star Rubio Long Snapper. Kid is a flat out stud and can snap at the next level right now.

Jack Landherr throws severe heat and simply never misses when he gets his eyes all the way through to the punter. Tremendous talent and upside.

JJ Lindsay is a very smooth lefty that is always improving. Massive potential and I love his work ethic.

Andrew Gonneville has massive upside, snaps a powerful ball and has a great frame.

Anthony Rosenstrauch might have the most upside of anyone in his class. Reaches back like a champ and snaps with amazing power. Raw.

Danny Dixon has one of the best attitudes in his class and has solid power.

Nathan Hedberg is strong and a tremendous athlete.

Nathan Newkirk is a massive human being with tons of power. Ironing out his form is going to make this kid unstoppable.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Kameron Hawkins

Kameron Hawkins continues his dominance and was the fastest overall Long Snapper with times that reached into the high .6s. Form is exceptional and the ball can crush a punter. Hard worker that never stops improving.

Cruz Rubio was absolutely on fire all day. Strong Long Snapper with very good feet. Snaps the ball with good speed and even earned a WILD CARD spot to The TOP 12 Camp!

Bryce Felt has been only snapping for 11 months and he is already a seasoned vet. Rips the ball back consistently under .80 and doesn’t show signs of slowing down.

Aaron Estrada had a great camp with consistent and accurate snaps that got better as the day continued.

Davis Salom is a massive and powerful human being that can absolutely rip the ball to the punter. Excellent speed and almost won the competition.

Michael Munoz has all the tools to be one of the greats in his class and beyond.

Cody White was snapping massive heat all day and was gaining confidence every hour. He looked great in CA.

Tony Villarreal is big, strong and snaps with excellent power. Right on the cusp of greatness.

Michael Tokos has very quick hands and is improving by the second.

AJ Laux was very solid and extremely large. When his spiral is on, he is tremendous.

Troy Sicaeros is smooth and accurate with a great attitude.

JT Greep

JT Greep was a machine in CA. Ball is extremely accurate, consistent and has excellent power on his ball. Snaps well beyond his years and just keeps getting better. Really impressed with Greep on Thursday in CA.

Chris Kent is a very smooth Long Snapper with some of the best form in his class!

Recap of the CA Spring Camp (3/4/18)

Rubio Long Snapping traveled to CA on March 4th, 2018 for their fall camp. Rubio Long Snapping will be traveling around the country this spring with stops in CA, NC, WA, NJ, AZ, IL, GA and TX with all camps leading right into VEGAS XXXII on May 12-13, 2018!

Long Snappers from CA, OH, CO, OR, AZ & NV all traveled to this camp to get the best instruction and exposure in the world of Long Snapping.

The overall champions of the camp were Ryan Aguilar (overall) and Simon Samarzich (speed). Ryan was dominant with his beyond smooth snaps that just appear in the punter’s hands. Form is good and he handles pressure extremely well. He barely even missed one time in the finals. Tremendous snapping when it counted the most.

Morgan White

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS
Morgan White left no doubt he was the best senior Long Snapper in attendance. He is strong and snaps a very powerful ball. Morgan hovered in the .7s all day and moves well on his feet. Kid is aggressive on the field and can easily play at the next level.

Niko Johnson shows great determination and moves extremely well on his feet. This JC Long Snapper has all of the tools to play at the next level.

Jake Mauch can pass an eyeball test from a 1/4 mile way and has all the potential in the world. Once it clicks for him, he will dominate.

TOP 2019 LONG SNAPPERS

Simon Samarzich

Simon Samarzich continued his dominance and left no doubt he is one of the most consistent Long Snappers in the country. He can move very extremely well on his feet, snaps with confidence and handles pressure like a champ. He ended up winning the speed competition and can snap at the next level right now.

Jack Landherr was on fire in CA. Body is great and when he gets his upper body all the way through, he absolutely crushes the competition. Upside is off the charts and I like his attitude. Kid is a flat out stud.

Ryan Aguilar is one of the smoothest Long Snappers in the country and ended up winning the overall competition! Pressure means nothing to him and when he catches fire, it is over for anyone going against him. He is so smooth it doesn’t even appear like he is doing anything and then, BOOM!, the ball crushes the punters hands.

Jack Landherr

Peter Bowden left no doubt he is one of the top juniors in the country. Great frame, moves well on his feet and I love his attitude.

Nathan Weneta looked great in CA. Pure athlete that is extremely smooth on his feet. Doesn’t even look like he is putting in any effort and he just chews up ground. Form is excellent and he didn’t have a snap over .78 all day long.

Aidan Livingston is an accurate Long Snapper with a good spiral. Aidan has the highest RSI score of the day and was the #1 seed go into the finals. Smooth and accurate Long Snapper that moves really well going forward.

Dean Lau is a machine on his feet and snaps with great power. Going straight back is going to make him unstoppable.

Brendan Beattie came out from Ohio and snapped some heat in CA. He can fly on his feet and when his spiral is on, he can crush the punter.

Andrew Gonneville has all of the potential in the world. Reaches through very well and can rip the ball back to the punter.

Matthew Rhodes was solid with his large frame and great balance.

TOP 2020 LONG SNAPPERS

Kameron Hawkins

Kameron Hawkins had a very solid day in CA. Body is getting stronger and he rips the ball back to the punter with zero wasted movement. He snaps and the ball just appears in the punters hands. One of the most consistent Long Snappers in the country…in any class.

Jacob Garcia is an extremely smooth Long Snapper with one of the most catchable balls in his class. The ball will stick to the punters hands. Accuracy is very solid as he made it into the finals. All the tools to be one of the greats.

Cruz Rubio did very well in CA. He is a very thick and strong Long Snapper that moves pretty darn well on his feet. He has no problem keeping the ball in the mid .7s and could easily play at the next level if he keeps improving at this pace.

Jacob Garcia

Jaden Sanchez is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class and can rip the ball back. Great attitude.

Michael Munoz has great potential and I am a big fan of his frame.

Bryce Felt impressed me with his attitude and how he continues to improve. Love his drive and he can get the ball under .79.

Tony Villareal is beyond smooth and snaps a very catchable ball.

Andrew Wells is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class and can crush a punter when he leans back.

AJ Laux is a monster on the field and snaps a powerful ball back to the punter.

Davis Salom is big, powerful and is improving by the second.

Michael Tokos is coming along nicely and I love his attitude. Smooth and consistent Long Snapper.

Devon Hooper is very athletic and has great consistency on his snaps.

Triston Heyes has one of the best follow throughs in his class and great potential.

Who Makes Up Rubio?

How did I get to be me? Who influences me? Who is a part of my everyday life? Kind of odd questions but ones that I think would make me seem a little bit more open to many of you. I am going to open up to you and give you bit of insight on my family. This blog is going to introduce just a couple of these characters to you. I choose to use the word characters instead of people because that is what these people are….characters.

Jolie – My wife. She deserves an entire blog (or better yet, a book), but all I am going to do is show you a picture of the two of us and let your minds go crazy. I may, or may not, come back to her and this story (easily one of the best you will ever hear) later. Trust me, it is amazing.  Here is your picture:

Cruz – My oldest son. Full of personality. Excellent athlete. Easiest way to explain him is if you watch the show Modern Family, Cruz is Manny. No doubt. Cruz has the personality of a 25 year old gigolo. I keep telling him he is nine.

Alec – Eight year old son who is an artistic genius, extremely bright, kind and talks louder than anyone I have ever heard. It is almost shocking. He might be an off-spring of Will Ferrell’s character Jacob Silj from Saturday Night Live. I can’t wait until he can work Vegas for me simply to call out names.

The Triplets – Mother (Deb), Aunt Donna and Aunt Leslie

They actually aren’t triplets, or so they say. They are sisters that act and look identical. They wear black EVERY SINGLE DAY of the year. Christmas…check. Weddings…check. Baptisms…check. Funerals…..kidding? They love them. It is like the SuperBowl since they are finally in style. Quick run down:

Mother (Deb) – Often called Deb because, for some reason, she does not respond to mom. I could say mom all day and she wouldn’t hear it one time. I say Deb and she is all of a sudden like the dog from the movie Up when he smells a squirrel. She is the leader of the triplets. She just had one of her knees replaced. Still limps on it. Think she forgot she replaced it. She wears black.

The Debster

Aunt Donna – Easily the nicest person you will ever meet. She won’t say a bad thing about anyone. Literally, someone could be talking about the devil and Aunt Donna would say, “Um, well, he um, at least he looks good in red.” A little absent minded at times (at times = 23 hours and 59 seconds of the day)….adds to her charm, but I guarantee you will never, ever find a nicer person. She wears black.

Aunt Leslie – The funniest of the three. If you ever get a chance to hear her tell a story, usually making fun of the other triplets, you will die laughing. Always loyal. Hilarious. According to her, she has never had a good day….in her entire life. She wears black.

Barb (The Big Queen) – Mother-in-Law. Great listener. Amazing person. Loves to hear a good story and is all about the pulse of the people. Not sure how, but she can watch 15 TV shows per day, TiVo another 20 and watch those too. She pretty much defies science and can bend time.

Dale (The Onion) – Father-in-Law. Nickname is because he has so many layers (well done Marcus J). Doesn’t speak to anyone he doesn’t like….please note: doesn’t talk much:) Absolutely hilarious when he does speak. Shockingly poignant. Doesn’t use real names. Only nicknames. I can’t tell you mine unless you are over 17. I embrace.

The Onion. Given no face option.

Ruth (The Gypsy) – Grandmother-in-law. Nice as can be. Barb’s mother so she can also defy science. Therefore, she is in her mid 80’s but is able to act and looks like she is mid 50’s. Changes outfits on the hour for some reason (jacket you see in photo on the below was immediately taken off and replaced with blue top for a group shot). Has a knack for predicting the predictable. For instance, when we told her Jolie was pregnant, she had no doubt, through her powers, that it would be a boy….or a girl. True story.

Macaw – My grandmother. She is 94. I think. She thinks. Anytime you ask her she bumps it up simply to be the oldest person around. She hates when she is not the oldest. I always try to point out someone that looks older and tell her they are older (I don’t even know the person, just do it to keep her fired up). She then proceeds to hit me with her cane….which she really doesn’t need and only uses it for abusing her grandson…me:) Yet again, I embrace since hitting me with it keeps her spry.

That is all I will do right now. I can do friends next time. The characters go on and on and on…..  Hope you have a little better feel of who I am.
