Happy Ranksgiving to the 2016 Long Snappers from the TX Camp!

The rankings are completed for ALL 2016 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping fall Camp in TX.

Long Snappers came in from PA, LA, NE, FL, KS, NV, CA, MD, OH, TN, OK, KY, AZ, MS and, of course, TX to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snappers.

Next ranking opportunity will be at VEGAS XXV.

Geron Eatherly

The best 2016 Long Snapper at the camp was Geron Eatherly. Geron was so solid he ended up winning the whole camp! He was snapping the ball all day in the .6s and with a lot of confidence. Definitely want to keep an eye on this kid at VEGAS XXV!

Koby Walsh looked very solid all day with his smooth snaps and great form. True student of Long Snapping that is very motivated.
Dylan Alexander had his best camp of his career. Always smiling and always improving. Tremendous form and a great attitude.
Alex Edwards had a great day in TX. Really snapping the ball well and jumped a ton in the rankings.
Evan Pohlman was throwing some severe heat all day and is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class.
Travis Arroyo might be the biggest Long Snapper in the country and he is one of the best in his class. Great form and moves really well on his feet. Also a tremendous lineman that dominates his opponents.

Notables: Thomas Patterson, Connor Adams, Trenton Givens, Jake Goodwin, Greg Royal, Eric Ryan, Grant Schoonover and Logan Bunger

2015 Rubio Long Snapper Writes a Book!

Over the summer, I was approached by Rubio Long Snapper Jackson Wilder (WA, 2015) and his father while I was in Seattle, WA about something they wanted to do “with” Rubio Long Snapping.

Turns out, Jackson was in the process of writing a book (yes, an actual book) on the life of a Rubio Long Snapper. I kinda thought they were kidding until they sent me some drafts and asked my approval. Many months and revisions later, I present to you….

Long Snapping: A Three Quarter Second Snapshot into the High School Life of a Rubio Long Snapper by Jackson Wilder available on Amazon!

The book is 120 pages long, written very well and describes Jackson’s journey throughout high school as a Rubio Long Snapper. He has some great sections on Vegas and the first time he met me for a lesson. Needless to say, a very interesting read and, given, it would make a solid Christmas gift.

Long Snapper SCORES Touchdown

As I am sure everybody knows (well, everybody involved with Long Snapping), a Alan D’Appollonio of Arkansas scored a touchdown! If you haven’t seen this VERY creative play, it is a must watch.

Alan attended several Rubio Long Snapping Vegas Events and ended up being a 5 Star Long Snapper that was ranked 11th in the country in 2011. Alan has always had tremendous athleticism and it looks as though the Arkansas staff has taken note. Congratulations to Alan and the Arkansas football team.

The rankings are completed for ALL 2017 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping fall Camp in CA.

Next ranking opportunity will be in IL on November 9th and at VEGAS XXV.

#1 Long Snapper in the class of 2017, Thomas Fletcher

This class of Long Snappers is really staring to shine with three sophomores standing out.

Leading the pack was Thomas Fletcher of WA. Fletch was outstanding all day long in CA. He has done a good job of perfecting his form and getting bigger hasn’t hurt at all. He was on fire all day long and was even snapping in the low .7s to high .6s at times. Kid is very good and did well enough to take the top spot for his class!
Liked what I saw from Noah Rodriguez-Trammel as well. Kid is built VERY long and is dripping with potential.
Peter Snodgrass did well at the camp with his very quick hands and consistent snaps.

Contest for a FREE VEGAS XXV!

Long Snappers are obviously incredible athletes built with dashing good looks, but are they also creative and intelligent?Obvious answer is YES, but let’s see what we are dealing with throughout the world.

Every year, I try to have a contest to give away a FREE admission to my Vegas Event. This year will be no different.

And, since I know my Long Snappers can tend to be a bit apprehensive about doing any extra work, I have created a contest with the least amount of work in the history of Rubio Long Snapping.

RUBIO LONG SNAPPING HAIKU CONTEST

WHO: Any Long Snapper ranging from 8th grade to second year of JC that would like a chance to earn a FREE admission to VEGAS XXV!

WHAT: You must create an original Haiku (s) that pertains to Long Snapping. For those of that don’t know, a Haiku is simply a Japanese poem of seventeen syllables, in three lines of five, seven, and five. If you don’t know what a poem or a syllable is, bless your heart and start focusing more in school for the love all that is holy.

Two examples of haikus would be…

Determination
Can make the impossible
Possible for all

A full day of fun
Lots of eating and resting
Football on the tube

PLEASE NOTE:

Be funny, be creative, don’t be bland. Stand out. Have fun with this “assignment”
You can enter ONLY one time, but can have a total of three haikus
Each haiku must be on the same page and must be hand-printed by the Long Snapper (if I can’t read it, it won’t get read). If you have one haiku, you will have just one page for me. If you have two haikus, you will have only one page for me. If you have three haikus, you will have only one page for me.

10 Common Questions Regarding the Spring Vegas Event

1. How do I get invited to the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? You don’t! It is not an invite only camp. It is a first come, first served Event. You register and you are in.

2. How old do you have to be to attend the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? All levels of High School through second year of Junior College. I will allow younger if it is pre-approved through me. Seniors should still be attending since we will be right in the middle of the third wave of recruiting.

3. Is the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas only for advanced Long Snappers? NO, it is open to all levels of Long Snappers. The early you go, the better you will be in the long run. Trust me, I have seen it countless times. Don’t be the guy who waits and then blows it because they were too nervous. Go early and get your butterflies knocked out sooner than later.

4. Will there be small group sessions this spring? Yes! There will be a 4-5 pm and 5-6 pm session. They are one hour blocks meant to knock off the rust, get some last minute fine-tuning in and get used to the fields, brand new football and myself.

5. Is there a hotel you recommend for the Long Snappers and their parents? Yes, we have a group rate with the JW Marriott. It is about one mile from the fields and is superb.

6. When should we book flights? Plan on arriving on Friday and either leaving after 7 pm on Sunday evening (camp will end at 5 pm) or Monday morning.

7. Is there a rental car company you recommend? Yes, for rental cars, follow these steps: Go to www.enterprise.com, Fill in the information as dates and times needed, In the optional area you will add L540231 and then click continue, The next screen will ask for a PIN which is RUB, Choose your car and enjoy the discount.

8. If I have spring ball on friday, can I arrive on Saturday morning? Yes, but I MUST be notified as early as possible so I can put you in a later group on Saturday.

9. Why is the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas important? It is a major one for the final recruitment of seniors (look at #2), beyond important for the underclassmen as their recruiting will just be going into high gear and your only chance to be selected to the EVENT ELITE (the EVENT ELITE will join The TOP 12 at the Invite Only TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE camp this summer in CA)

10. What do I get for attending the 11th Annual National Snapping Spring Event in Las Vegas? The best on Long Snapping instruction in the world, a Rubio Long Snapping shirt, a profile page with Rubio Long Snapping, a YouTube video to be used at your discretion, a recruiting and nutritional seminar at the hotel, a chance to make the EVENT ELITE and the winner of the camp receives one year of free Rubio Long Snapping camps (accommodations and transportation not included).

This class was extremely tricky considering how many stepped up and showed me they belong in the TOP 12. Trust me when I tell you, that list was not easy nor was ranking this class…hence, why it took me the longest. Not one Long Snapper is safe with their ranking in this group and the Spring Event in Las Vegas is going to be a flat out battleground for them.

So, You Didn’t Make The TOP 12…now what?

For the past 2 weeks, you have been watching the TOP 12 Long Snappers get chosen one by one. Nightly, you stared at your Twitter feed or Facebook at approximately 5 pm pst waiting for the inevitable clue to be dropped. Each day, one person was ecstatic while countless others felt the opposite emotions. Last night, the final TOP 12er was chosen and a balloon was popped for many 2014, 2015 and even some 2016 Long Snappers. Now what?

Couple ways to look at it….

You can be upset with me for not selecting you. You can be upset with yourself for not performing when it counted. You can even find a way to blame others, but, it is ultimately on you. The only thing you can control is how hard and smart you work. Everyone in Vegas is competing for the same spots. Don’t let anybody outwork you and you will see different results.

You need to use this as motivation to make sure you perform better. This is all up to you. The choice is yours.

If you are a Long Snapper that strives to be the best, you want to be at that TOP 12 camp this summer. Any single athlete that has been there (scholarship Long Snappers, All-Americans, NFL players) will tell you it is, by far, the best camp they have ever been to in their life. What you need to do is get back on the horse. Work smarter and harder. Your opportunity is waiting for you in May at the Spring Event in Las Vegas.

At the Spring Event, I choose the EVENT ELITE. The EVENT ELITE is the best of the best from Vegas in May. They join the TOP 12 to form the TOP 12 and EVENT ELITE Camp on June 21-23, 2013 in Los Angeles. There is no set number for the EVENT ELITE. I could choose one Long Snapper or I can choose 20. It all depends on the talent. I don’t choose just to choose. It would make me look ignorant in the end. If I say you belong at that camp, you are one of the best in the world. This is a true invite only camp. I do NOT just hand out invites to get people to come to it. That would give me no credibility. I choose the best because they are the best. They will represent the TOP 12, EVENT ELITE and Rubio Long Snapping the best in the future.

Are you one of them? Time to decide. Prove to me, and the rest of the world, that you belong.

Or don’t.

The 12th TOP 12er is Liam McCullough!

The 12th, and final, Long Snapper to be named to the exclusive TOP 12 is Liam McCullough (OH, ’15)!

Liam is the only Long Snapper from the class of 2015 that was chosen for this elite group and it is VERY well deserved. Liam came out to the 11th Annual National Event in Las Vegas and was beyond dominant from start to finish. He averaged sub .7 for a 15 yard snap and I didn’t see a bad ball all weekend. He has increased his size and is snapping with a ton of confidence.

Once again, congratulations to the final member of the TOP 12 – Liam McCullough!

This was a very difficult class for me to rank due to their talent level. I have never had a sophomore class that was this advanced. The next year of camps is going to amazing to watch this group continue to advance. May will be very intense for this class. They will no longer be the babies, they will be ready to truly run with the big dogs.

Rubio Long Snapping January in Review

To say January was a “busy” month for Rubio Long Snapping would be the understatement of the Long Snapping world! The month was filled with player commitments, current college player success stories, alumni in the NFL Playoffs and The National Event in Las Vegas!

In just the month of January, Rubio Long Snapping had over 10 players commit to Universities. Some of those players include: Jerred Sonneborn (Washington State), Zach Smith (USC), AJ Hantak (Eastern Illinois) amongst many others.

Many Rubio Long Snappers continue to excel beyond high school and into their respected colleges; here are a few players that just recently accomplished great things at their schools:

Joe St. Germain – Recently earned a Full Scholarship at Virginia Tech University after a flawless Redshirt Freshman season.
Jeff Palmer – Set a record at the University of Oregon for playing in 52 games straight.

Zach had another strong showing at a Rubio Long Snapping camp. In Vegas, he was smooth, on target and snapping the ball extremely quick. He has very good form and he snaps the ball hard every snap. Handles pressure well and snaps with confidence.

The Final Snap of the 11th Annual Event

Every year, Rubio Long Snappers impress me more and more. Their snapping has become jaw-dropping at earlier ages. They are bigger, stronger, faster much sooner than they used to be with their bodies and, yup, even minds. They, and their parents, have grown into a massive family (which is what I have always hoped for with Rubio Long Snapping). Seriously, think about it, you really don’t see a lot of Long Snapping families eating solo out in Vegas:)

The big national events really bring everyone together. You have Long Snappers, and their families, from all over the world coming to one place to do their best in an extremely stressful environment. Many come and do wonderful their first trip out, while many come and absolutely bomb on their first venture to the desert. More often than not, it is the later (hence why I always say to go as soon as you can in your career).

This video, is yet another example of what I am talking about in being a Rubio Long Snapper. This video personifies emotion and desire.

To say Emmett Odegard, the Long Snapper in the video, has come along way with his snapping would be like saying the Grand Canyon is a crack in the ground. He has been with Rubio Long Snapping for three years and started slow but listened….and listened….and listened….until it all paid off.

Emmett, who was absolutely fantastic all weekend, stormed into the finals as the #2 seed and had some intense battles along the way (7 total snaps against Keaston Sinicki, 5 of which they both scored on!) and was ready to take on, cue the music, Cole Mazza (who was the top seed).

In the video, Emmett was down three points behind Mazza and had to make a 3 pointer to stay alive in the finals. Basically, he had to be perfect and snap the ball through the middle rectangle (one with the chains) or he was done and Mazza would win.

This video shows the emotion of the Long Snapper AND the crowd. This video shows the camaraderie, that so many Long Snappers now possess and I love it. This video shows the desire and compassion of two Long Snappers. Both were exceptional and both should be proud of themselves. I am.

11th Annual National Event in Las Vegas – STATS

Last weekend, January 19-20, in Las Vegas, the largest Long Snapping Event took place in the world.

Saturday was filled with the best instruction with a 3 to 1 ratio of Long Snappers to instructors and Sunday was filled with competition. Long Snappers tested on The Rubio Target, ran 40 yard dashes, were filmed for YouTube, timed by Rubio and did live punts/pats. The weekend was a smashing success, yet again, as the reviews keep coming in from all over the world.

The winner of Event was Cole Mazza (CA. ’13)! To say Mazza was dominant throughout the whole weekend would be a tragic understatement. He was beyond impressive all when you saw him in person and, even more so, when you look at the stats.

Rubio Long Snapper Zach Smith commits to USC!

Rubio Long Snapper Zach Smith (CA, ’13) has committed to USC as a preferred walk-on!

After a completely amazing performance this weekend in Las Vegas, the staff at Southern Cal was quick to get in contact with Zach and offer him a spot to compete for the starting job next year. USC has always been Zach’s dream school so he wasted no time in letting Coach Kiffin and Special Teams Coach Baxter know he is 100% in right when they offered the spot.

To say this is a steal for USC is a massive understatement. Zach is, easily, one of the top Long Snappers in the country. He averaged a jaw dropping .60 for a 15 yard snap and is beyond athletic when he moves down the field. The sky is the limit for this terrific Long Snapper and person.

Congratulations once again to Zach Smith!

Cole Mazza Takes Title at 11th Annual Rubio Long Snapping National Event

Rubio Long Snappers have departed from the 11^th Annual National Event in Las Vegas and to say the event was a success is the understatement of the world. Long Snappers from all over the country and even the world participated in the two-day event on January 19^th and 20^th at Faith Lutheran High School.

The Long Snappers competed in various skill competitions and were ultimately narrowed down to 12 finalists. The finalists competed in one last skill competition using a specific finals round target to crown the champion.

That Champion was Alabama commit Cole Mazza. The 6-1 240 pound Mazza is from Liberty High School in Bakersfield. Mazza was offered by many D1 schools including UCLA, Utah and Washington State and will be a key component to the National Champion Crimson Tide in the coming years.

Watch Out Vegas, Long Snappers from all over the world are coming!!

Vegas has never seen an attraction of this type, the finest Long Snappers in the world invade the desert! Rubio Long Snapping is holding their annual “Inter”-National Event on January 19th-20th at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas! The two day event is a showcase of the finest prep talent and coaching in the world of Long Snapping. Players will compete for the highest of rankings in the world of Long Snapping. Former attendees of this event are currently playing at major D1 Schools and even the NFL.
