Champion Donald Reiter!

Champion Donald Reiter!

The rankings are completed for the 2016 Long Snappers that participated at VEGAS XXVI!

Long Snappers in this class came out from over twenty states to get the best instruction and most exposure for Long Snappers in the country.

This class had the winner of the camp, Donald Reiter out of AZ. Donald is a great talent that is always improving. Nice spiral, powerful snap and incredible accuracy. Very happy for Donald.

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS:

  • Johnny Den Bleyker was off the charts all weekend. The UCLA commit truly left no doubt he was the top snapper in the country.
  • Damon Johnson showed excellent drive, speed and athleticism.
  • John Shannon has some of the best raw power I have come across in some time. The Notre Dame commit can put a hole in a punter if they are not paying attention.
  • Geron Eatherly is one of the most dependable snappers in the country. He is an absolute machine.
  • Steven Wirtel has incredible upside was dominant all weekend.
  • Ben Wyatt has great power and form. Recently offered by West Virginia and you can see why very quickly.
  • Jake Cesear is, easily, the most athletic Long Snapper in the country. Tons of potential.
  • Conner Kirkegaard is the real deal and just keeps on getting better. Incredible Long Snapper.
  • Anthony Ratliff has found his groove and was snapping bullets all weekend.
  • Scott Meyer is beyond smooth and coming along very nicely. Watch him.
  • Logan Klusman is a very smooth lefty that has two offers on the table.
  • Koby Walsh can be one of the best in his class. Great drive.
  • John Aloma has incredible form and a very fast snap.
  • Grant Jaffe is a massive Long Snapper with an amazing amount of potential.
  • Jake Munoz has the quickest hands in the country and it’s not even close.
  • Bradley Watkins showed incredible athleticism and snaps all weekend. Watch this kid closely.
  • Jack Quiggle was firing the ball back at VEGAS. Very impressive speed.
  • Travis Arroyo is a giant Long Snapper with great form and excellent accuracy.
  • Jon Letter has the ability to snap a D1 ball right now.
  • Colton Piatt continues to improve and impress me.
  • Bradley Robinson has incredible form and can be one of the best when he snaps the ball as hard as possible.
  • Brett DioGuardi passes an eyeball test quickly and improves at a very rapid rate. Tons of upside.
  • Harrison Freeman looks the part and is starting to snap like it as well. Great potential. Smart

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)
  • My rankings are based off of this blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
  • If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
  • All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

VEGAS XXVI – Snap Speeds

Here are the snap speeds from the VEGAS XXVI Event on May 9-10, 2015. These are the averages of a 15 yard snap timed by Rubio. The clock starts as soon as ANY part of the Long Snapper moves and stops as soon as the ball makes contact with the “punter”

VEGAS XXVI (our May Event) is the second largest Long Snapping camp in the world. The first was VEGAS XXV in January. To truly say you are the best, you have to compete against the best.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com

KEY POINTS:

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.

TOP 2015 LONG SNAPPERS

  • Tyler Griffiths was exquisite all day in NC. Snapping with a ton of confidence and he is snapping with great power. NC State got a great one in Griffiths.
  • Austin Spence showed incredible improvement and proved that Clemson got a solid Long Snapper for the next four years. Great athlete
  • Drew McCracken was snapping with great power and an improved, muscular body in GA. Kid is an incredible athlete and will be a playmaker.
  • Ryan Parris was smooth and solid all day in GA. Body is strong and when he reaches all the way through while snapping with full power, he is outstanding.
  • Garrett Wilson caught fire in GA and was unstoppable. Passes an eye ball test really quick and leaves no doubt he is ready for college.
  • Marco Cadavieco is, easily, one of the smoothest Long Snappers in his class. Love his drive and attitude.
  • Jamie Land was the best I have seen him in NC. Snapped with great confidence and showed why he is one of the top Long Snappers in the south.

Article & Rankings from the Rubio Long Snapping Spring Camp in CA

The rankings are completed for ALL Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping Spring Camp in CA!

Long Snappers came out from CA, NV, AZ, WY, WA, UT and CO to get the best instruction and most exposure for Long Snappers in the country.

Next ranking opportunity will be at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in TX on March 15th.

Hoffman, Harrison

Harrison Hoffman

The overall winner of the camp was Harrison Hoffman. Harrison is headed to the Air Force Academy and will do great there. He is a smooth Long Snapper with a frame that will easily be able to pack on the pounds in the coming years. Great kid and always learning

TOP 2015 LONG SNAPPERS

  • Jordan Ober snaps so the ball is crisp, tight and moves quickly back to the punter. I would love to see him lower his butt just a tad to get even more speed on the ball. That’s a very simple fix that can be adjusted in less than a week. I also love his attitude.
  • Cody Block is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. He moves very well on his feet, no matter what he is doing. His hands are extremely quick. He gets the ball out of the gate as well as anyone else in the country. I would love to see him focus on getting fully set and making sure he is going back instead of just straight up. This will increase the speed of the ball and keep him in the low .7s to even .6s over the course of a day.
  • Jonathan Goldstein is built long and his form has really progressed over the years. He has a frame that can put up some very good weight over the next year. Goldstein uses his whole body really well and he can snap the ball in the .6s at times on punts. He needs to make sure his consistency with that speed is locked down and that he is getting the same release point with all of his snaps. This kid can really snap. Watch him.
  • Peter Comaroto‘s form is excellent and he is always improving. Getting his footwork down and continuing to build his body will help in the long run. It is fun to watch this kid snap. UMASS is lucky to have him in the fall.
  • Richard Wilcox is fantastic when loose. The less thinking he does, the better he is. I love when he drives his elbows and creates some good whip and speed on the ball. He is built thick so he will have to really make sure he stays loose and doesn’t become too bulky which will slow the ball down. He has a great attitude.
  • Matt Foley is snapping the ball with confidence and is sure of himself. He looked good. I REALLY just need to see him focus on one snap and let it fly out of his hands full speed. Once he does that, I want it EVERY SINGLE TIME. He is as close as possible to a 5 Star Rubio Long Snapper. This kid is good.

Notables: Scott Stevens, Jack Dixon, JT Bale

TOP 2016 LONG SNAPPERS

  • Johnny Den Bleyker was smooth, strong and fast. Den Bleyker has it all right now. The bigger he gets, the better he will be. Love when he gets fully set. Very dominant at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. UCLA got a good one.
  • Damon Johnson had a great day at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. Gets in a groove and is very dominant. His misses are becoming less and less frequent. Big thing for him is to just snap the ball as hard as he can at all times. Kid is flat out good and he will make a college coach very happy in the next couple of years.
  • Conner Kirkegaard had a much better day at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. When he lets the ball just fly out of his hands, he is exceptional. Controlling his release point will be huge for him gaining accuracy. Speed is right on target. WORK HORSE.
  • Koby Walsh had another great day at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. He is right in the mix with all of the great ones in his class. Now, he needs to lock down the consistency and take it to the next level. Show me he can win a camp and separate himself from those above him. Moves really well on his feet. Body is coming along nicely. I will be testing his blocking and movement a ton at VEGAS XXVI.
  • Jake Cesear – Simple: he gets to about 210 lbs and he will have a scholarship. Reminds me a lot of Rubio Long Snappers Aaron Brewer (Denver Broncos) and Chase Dominguez (Utah). TONS of upside. Kid is almost ready for a scholarship now. SMOOOOOOOOTH.
  • James Workman had another big jump in the rankings and well deserved. Workman is really locking down his consistency and is headed towards one of the greats in his class. The harder he snaps, the better he will be. Lowering his butt will help a bit to gain more speed and power. Kid is filled with potential. Watch him closely at VEGAS XXVI. EVENT ELITE?
  • Donald Reiter is coming along nicely and had a good day at the Rubio Long Snapping camp in CA. Needs to really focus on being as quick as possible going back instead of gradually going up. Very good attitude.

Notables: Jack Haney, Curtis Hernandez, Jacob Mimoun,  Jack Munsey, Andrew Tomlinson, Jared Enrico, Blake Gifford, Fletcher Dilley

TOP 2017 LONG SNAPPERS

  • Thomas Fletcher is just flat out good. Really good. If I was a college coach, I would be looking at this kid VERY, VERY closely right now. The bigger he gets, the better he will be. Just trust me on this, watch him. It would not surprise me to see him win VEGAS XXVI.
  • Koltin Anderson did really well at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. He is snapping the ball with confidence and good power. Like to see him continue to work on eliminating the hitch while still snapping full power. Strong bodied. Great attitude.
  • Alex Michaelsen is snapping the ball with good power and strength. Needs to make sure he is not over-gripping the ball so he keeps his spiral on lock down. Keeping his back flat will help with overall speed and power. VERY good potential and definitely one to watch.
  • Devin Noth of Colorado did well. Plain and simple, the bigger Noth gets, the better he will be. Kid has very good form and is snapping the ball well. He is snapping the ball with very good power and accuracy. Kid is flat out good. Keep a very close eye on him over the next two years and beyond.

Notables: Joey Tanaka, Noah Rodriguez-Trammell, Caleb Laver

TOP 2018 LONG SNAPPERS & FUTURE STARS

  • Ross Reiter left no doubt he was the best in his class and it wasn’t even close. Kid is strong, has a great attitude and snaps with power.
  • Brendan Bentley showed QUICK improvement in a very short amount of time. Body is strong and his form is good. Loved what I saw at the Rubio Long Snapping spring camp in CA. Snaps the ball with good power. Like to see him sit down a bit more and make sure he is leaning back. VERY good potential and you should really keep a close eye on him.
  • Simon Samarzich continues to just plug along and dominate his age group in CA. VEGAS XXVI will be big to prove he is dominant at the national level. Wouldn’t put money against him showing up and snapping bullets.

Happy Ranksgiving to the Class of 2017 Long Snappers

VEGAS XXV FinalsThe rankings are completed for ALL 2017 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping National Event: VEGAS XXV!

Approximately 300 Long Snappers came in from nearly every state in the country and even Canada to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snappers. This was what you call a true national event to see how you really compare against the best in the world. As I stated before, there is nothing like Vegas and this one definitely did not disappoint. Testimonials are coming in non-stop regarding the weekend.  With the addition of an agility and tackling station, athleticism really played a role in the rankings.

Next ranking opportunity will be at any Rubio Long Snapping spring and summer camp.

This group was simply amazing with the level of talent they brought out to the field on both days. I could make this post 20 pages long talking about each and every one of them. Here are the best of the best….

  • Thomas Fletcher: Fletcher is the first sophomore to win a VEGAS event.  He was absolute nails under pressure and acted as if it was just a given that he would win the whole thing from the start….love that. His form is very good (could move his butt down just a tad) and he uses his whole body really well. This kid is flat out very good for his age and is almost ready for college now.
  • Mitch Hall: He is snapping with some confidence and the more of that he snaps with, the better he will be in the long run.  Hall has VERY good starting form. The more he trusts it, the higher he goes in the rankings.  Athletically, he moved pretty darn well.  He moved quickly and got up quickly through the agility and tackling station. I love this kid’s attitude. You should keep a very close eye on him.
  • Nate Durham: It looks like there is going to be a severe battle for the top spot in the coming months for the class of 2017.  Durham could easily take the lead. His form is VERY good and he is snapping the ball with good speed. He needs to make sure his eyes are getting all the way through for more speed, accuracy and consistency.  Athletically, he moves well for his size but needs to be able to control his body a bit more when moving forward and laterally over the bags. He has TONS of potential. He should be seriously thinking about EVENT ELITE at VEGAS XXVI.
  • Jeremiah Riordan:  Riordan is really moving forward and he is doing it quickly.  I loved what I saw at VEGAS XXV.   This kid has very good size for his age and solid form.  He is using his whole body really well and snaps with power.  I would love to see him have no hiccups with his eyes/head as he drives them through his legs.  That will help with accuracy, consistency and speed.  Athletically, he moved fast and tackled well. Being a little more agile will be something I will be looking for at VEGAS XXVI. Very good upside with this kid.
  • Jake Hess: He is snapping with very good confidence and really letting the ball fly out of his hands. One of the best parts about Hess is how coachable he is….you tell him to work on something, give him some time, you come back and it is done.  He will make a coach very happy in the coming years.  He is driving his head through well and snapping with good power.  Athletically, he needs to make sure he focuses on all aspects of the agility and tackling station or he will remain stuck at 4 stars for some time. He has a VERY good attitude.
  • Kasey Kelleher: This kid has wonderful form and is snapping a nice, crisp ball that has some very good pop on it. I would love to see him lean back a bit more to ensure more power and consistency.  Athletically, he moves well on his feet and has good control all around. Kelleher has tons of potential and could take the top spot at VEGAS XXVI.
  • Joe Calcagno: He is snapping with good form and he is using his body well. It is really simple for Calcagno….the harder he snaps, the better he does in all aspects of his snapping. Athletically, I want him to not be too timid and attack every movement.  This includes the tackling aspect of the agility and tackling drill. He has good potential.
  • Matthew Smith: He is very athletic and moved flawlessly through the agility and tackling section of VEGAS XXV.  I would love to see him lower his butt a bit more to really gain some speed on the ball.  Dropping two inches lower will get him to be consistently in the .7 second range. Smith’s form is very good and he is right on the cusp of greatness. I am telling you, keep a VERY close eye on this kid at VEGAS XXVI and beyond.
  • Devin Noth: He is built long and has a frame that will be able to put on some good weight in the coming years. His hands are like rockets and the ball jumps out of the gate.  So fast in fact, Noth is almost hard to time. He needs to really make sure he gets his eyes and head all the way through to be more accurate and consistent. Athletically, he might be the smoothest in all of his class. He dominated the agility and tackling station. You need to watch this kid VERY closely.  He made a massive jump in the rankings.
  • Trevor Dhabalt: He is one of those Long Snappers that shows waves of brilliance. Some snaps are exceptional and some need work. I would love to see him lift his release point a bit and really snap with full power at all times. When he tries to aim the ball, it dies and we don’t want that.  Dhabalt’s form is good and he needs to trust it. Athletically, he moves smooth and with purpose. Controlling his body will help at VEGAS XXVI.

Notables: John Davis, Jake Pagel, Jacob Rubenstein, Austin Reeves, Kyle O’Connor, Caleb Lawver, & Ryan Culbertson.

Happy Ranksgiving to the Class of 2018 Long Snappers

VEGAS XXV FinalsThe rankings are completed for ALL 2018 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping National Event: VEGAS XXV!

  • Ross Reiter was tremendous all weekend at VEGAS XXV. Very strong for his age and snaps the ball with good power. Love his attitude.
  • Kyle Petrucci He is built EXTREMELY long.  His has outstanding athleticism for his size. He moves with purpose and also tackled very well.  One to watch.
  • Roen McCullough He looks and snaps like someone three years older than he actually is.  Roen ept very good control of his body and tackled well at the agility and tackling station. He has TONS and TONS of potential.
  • Ryan Walsh His form is excellent and he is snapping with confidence. Ryan needs to make sure he locks down his spiral so the ball is smooth and easy to catch. Walsh has a good attitude and is always improving.
  • Joseph Ramos He is a solid Long Snapper with great size already for his age.  By VEGAS XXVI I want to see lighter and smoother moves on the agility and tackling station. He is a good kid with tons of potential.
  • Jerrett Key Key has a good frame for his age and snaps a solid ball. His snap is tight and shows good accuracy. He is a very good snapper for his age. He broke down and tackled very well at the agility section of the weekend.
  • John Raines He has exceptional form and snaps with a lot of power. Raines has very impressive speed for his age and tons of potential.  He listens well so he could shatter the charts. Keep a very close eye on him throughout high school.
  • Brendan Watson He is easily one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class. He moved very well on his feet. His form is very good and he does a solid job of using his whole body throughout the snapping motion. Watch him this spring and at VEGAS XXVI.

FUTURE STARS

  • Quentin Skinner  He is easily the best middle school Long Snapper in the country. This kid is a monster.
  • JC Vega He has VERY good starting form and looks good snapping the ball. Keep a very close eye on this one. He could be tops of his class quickly.
  • Simon Samarzich He has very good form and is an excellent Long Snapper for his age.

Notables: Gabriel Cervantes, Hunter Becker, Noah Turner, & Dillon Hayes

  • Blake Ferguson was like a machine. Every thing you hear about him is true, plus more. He is that good.

Vegas XXV Average Snap Speeds

Here are the average snap speeds from VEGAS XXV in alphabetical order.

For the speed of the snap, the clock started as soon as the Long Snapper began the snapping motion and the clock stopped when the ball hit the target.  If the ball missed the target completely, the time was recorded as one second.  Each Long Snapper’s average was calculated from 12 various snaps on Sunday while using the Rubio Target as well as by Rubio.
