Davis has continued to just improve and improve over the past couple of years. Always had tremendous size and just needed to control it. Well, it looks like he is doing it now and that is not good news for the rest of his class. Easy D1 size and speed right now. As long as he continues to maintain his form, there is no telling how far he can go with his snapping.

Rubio Long Snapping Rick Lovato of Old Dominion was named to the College Sporting News Fabulous All-American Team!

As you can imagine, this is quite an honor for a true sophomore but very well deserved. TOP 12 Long Snapper Lovato has been flawless in two seasons for the Monarchs.

Lovato is a tremendous Long Snapper and person with a very bright future. He started with Rubio Long Snapping in 2009 and was a late pickup for Old Dominion that panned out beautifully!

11th Annual National Event in Las Vegas – STATS

Last weekend, January 19-20, in Las Vegas, the largest Long Snapping Event took place in the world.

Saturday was filled with the best instruction with a 3 to 1 ratio of Long Snappers to instructors and Sunday was filled with competition. Long Snappers tested on The Rubio Target, ran 40 yard dashes, were filmed for YouTube, timed by Rubio and did live punts/pats. The weekend was a smashing success, yet again, as the reviews keep coming in from all over the world.

The winner of Event was Cole Mazza (CA. ’13)! To say Mazza was dominant throughout the whole weekend would be a tragic understatement. He was beyond impressive all when you saw him in person and, even more so, when you look at the stats.

Rubio Long Snapper Zach Smith commits to USC!

Rubio Long Snapper Zach Smith (CA, ’13) has committed to USC as a preferred walk-on!

After a completely amazing performance this weekend in Las Vegas, the staff at Southern Cal was quick to get in contact with Zach and offer him a spot to compete for the starting job next year. USC has always been Zach’s dream school so he wasted no time in letting Coach Kiffin and Special Teams Coach Baxter know he is 100% in right when they offered the spot.

To say this is a steal for USC is a massive understatement. Zach is, easily, one of the top Long Snappers in the country. He averaged a jaw dropping .60 for a 15 yard snap and is beyond athletic when he moves down the field. The sky is the limit for this terrific Long Snapper and person.

Congratulations once again to Zach Smith!

Cole Mazza Takes Title at 11th Annual Rubio Long Snapping National Event

Rubio Long Snappers have departed from the 11^th Annual National Event in Las Vegas and to say the event was a success is the understatement of the world. Long Snappers from all over the country and even the world participated in the two-day event on January 19^th and 20^th at Faith Lutheran High School.

The Long Snappers competed in various skill competitions and were ultimately narrowed down to 12 finalists. The finalists competed in one last skill competition using a specific finals round target to crown the champion.

That Champion was Alabama commit Cole Mazza. The 6-1 240 pound Mazza is from Liberty High School in Bakersfield. Mazza was offered by many D1 schools including UCLA, Utah and Washington State and will be a key component to the National Champion Crimson Tide in the coming years.

Rubio Long Snapping is holding their annual “Inter”-National Event on January 19th-20th at Faith Lutheran High School in Las Vegas! The two day event is a showcase of the finest prep talent and coaching in the world of Long Snapping. Players will compete for the highest of rankings in the world of Long Snapping. Former attendees of this event are currently playing at major D1 Schools and even the NFL.

Rubio Long Snappers Compete in High School All-American Games

Rubio Long Snappers Cole Mazza & Gabriel Miller will be participating in the Semper-Fidelis All-American Game tonight at 6:00 pm pst.

The game will be televised live on the NFL network and “is the culmination of a series of Diamond Flight Camps and a nationwide All-American player selection tour that collectively celebrate academic excellence, proven physical fitness, and quality of character” per their website.

Cole, who is committed to Alabama, and Gabriel, who is committed to Nebraska, both on full scholarship, were chosen by Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking after dominating the selection camp for the Junior Rank Semper-Fidelis camp in Naples, FL this past summer.

Also, two time TOP 12er, Brendan Turelli, who already has a full scholarship offer from Wyoming, will be competing in the Under Armour All-Star game at 2:00 pm pst on ESPN.

Rubio Long Snapper and TOP 12er Matt Cota (ID, ’13) has committed to Boise St. as a preferred walk-on!

Cota has been with Rubio Long Snapping for two years and is known for his exquisite form and terrific athletic ability. He is an extremely smooth Long Snapper that looks to compete right off the bat next year as Rubio Long Snapper Chris Roberson will graduate after starting for four years.

Cota carries a 3.75 GPA and is just an all-around great guy. Boise St. got a great local Long Snapper.

Rubio Long Snapper and TOP 12er Graydon Peterson (WI, ’13) has committed to play for Dartmouth!

This is a huge honor not only for the athletic side of things, but more so, for the academic side. Not everyone can say they will be playing football at an Ivy League school!

When Graydon told me about his commitment, he said “Took off the pads and went to warm up before snapping to the punters…wearing Top 12 shirt. A Sailer guy, Henry Woodrow came over to catch, then more punters came over. Woodrow told them the yellow shirt means “he’s good” Kicking coach put a stopwatch on me…etc…etc…Long story short, came back with some offers and have decided to commit to….Dartmouth. Embrace the power of yellow!”

Long, and I mean long, time Rubio Long Snapper Evan Jacobsen of New Mexico has been chosen to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl in Los Angeles on January 19th!

This bowl will give “100 NFL prospects the opportunity to showcase their talent in front of 25,000 football fans. Former NFL coaches and players unite to engage and educate top players”

Evan has been with Rubio Long Snapping since 2007 and finished his high school career as the #1 Long Snapper for his class. He is a terrific Long Snapper that exerts a ton of energy on each snap.

2012 Herbalife 24 High School Football Awards

This past weekend was the Herbalife 24 Chris Sailer and Chris Rubio Awards for top high school Placekicker and Long Snapper. Three kickers and three long snappers were brought into L.A. Live for the awards show. The three finalists for the Chris Sailer Award for top Placekicker were Austin Rehkow (WA, ’13), Kevin Robledo (CA, ’15) and Wyatt Schmidt (MN, ’13). The three finalists for the Chris Rubio Award for top Long Snapper were Cole Mazza (CA, ’13), Gabriel Miller (IN, ’13) and Scott Sypniewski (IL, ’13).

The weekend started off with the finalists that were flown into LAX being picked up in limos and driven to the JW Marriott. Once there, they, and a guest of their choice, relaxed in their rooms and waited for dinner at the ESPN Zone. The first night’s dinner was casual with everyone getting to know one another and to finally see the trophies they worked so hard to hopefully take home the next day.

Saturday started off with a breakfast at the Herbalife building with a presentation on nutrition and supplements. Following the breakfast, the finalists, along with Chris Sailer and Chris Rubio, were driven in a limo to Saddle Ranch restaurant on Sunset Blvd. Needless to say, they ate and ate and ate some more. At 6:00 pm, the Awards show officially started in the Herbalife building at L.A. Live. Everyone in attendance was formally dressed, looking sharp as the tension filled the air.

Master of Ceremonies Wayne Cook of Fox Sports West did a tremendous job as he brought up guest speakers and conducted interviews with the finalists on stage. After much adieu, the winner of the Chris Rubio Award for top high school Long Snapper in the country was presented to Cole Mazza and the winner of the top high school Placekicker in the country was presented to Wyatt Schmidt!

Rubio Long Snapper Trey Lamastus commits to the University of Alabama at Birmingham!

Long time Rubio Long Snapper and TOP 12er Trey Lamastus (LA, ’13) has committed to the UAB as a preferred walk-on!

Lamastus is known for his incredible drive, always improving and terrific flowing hair. He is built well, has a solid frame and is expected to start his first year on campus.

When I was notified of his commitment, Lamastus said to me “Thank you for everything. Without you I wouldn’t even know how to pick up a ball. Thanks Rubio. Really wouldn’t know where I’d be without you right now. Not even as a snapper but a person also. You’ve always been there for me!!”

Love it…absolutely love it!

Rubio Long Snapper Daniel LaMontagne picks up Award

Long time Rubio Long Snapper Daniel LaMontagne of Furman University has been named to the All-Freshman Team for the Southern Conference! This is a massive honor and couldn’t happen to a better person.

LaMontagne has been with Rubio Long Snapping for over two years and just continues to improve with each showing at a camp. Originally, his form was a tad off and he was little undersized. He worked right and hard to achieve greatness. He is now, obviously, one of the best Long Snappers in his class. Tremendous attitude and work ethic make him an excellent snapper and person for Furman University to have on their roster.

LaMontagne will be on the Rubio Long Snapping staff this January at the 11th Annual National Snapping Event in Las Vegas. See you there.

Look for Chase Dominguez to Excel at the Next Level!

Rubio Long snapper Chase Dominguez recently earned a scholarship to play football at the University of Utah to become their Long Snapper. As far as Rubio Long Snapping goes, Dominguez is virtually flawless in all aspects of the position. Chase is long and athletic and has the frame to become a fantastic blocker. Chase is smooth under pressure, concentrating on the mechanics of snapping in the toughest situations. There is no doubt that Dominguez will be a huge asset to the University of Utah’s college football program as a Long Snapper, as long as he stays healthy and continues to practice. His size, intelligence and talent makes him a player to watch in the future.

Rubio Long Snapper Jeff Overbaugh dominating at SDSU

Dominating Rubio Long Snapper, Jeff Overbaugh is a five star long snapper for the class of 2012. Jeff is originally from Anchorage, Alaska where he made ESPN’s high school all-Alaska team, helping his team, the Robert Service High School Cougars to a 10-0-1 overall record in 2011. Ranked #3 overall in the country by Rubio Long Snapping, The true freshman starter, now playing for San Diego State, heated up in summer camp and didn’t cool off. With twelve regular season games in the books, freshman Jeff Overbaugh is 105 for 105 in all snap attempts.

Jeff is my third Rubio Long Snapper in a row to get picked up by and dominate at San Diego State. Tyler Schmitt was my first, who has now gone on to be drafted by the Seahawks, and Aaron Brewer was second, who currently is with the Broncos. Rivals.com said, “Instructor Chris Rubio who rated Jeff a five star D1 ready long snapper must be smiling knowing he got it right.” Yes, yes I am smiling! The success of my students is what drives me.
