VEGAS EVENT - 2014VEGAS EVENTS

As you know, the Vegas Events are the biggest and best Long Snapping camps in the world. They are truly a national event to see how you compete against the best in the nation, and world. The May Event, or VEGAS XXVI, is the second largest Long Snapping camp we run (VEGAS XXV in January is the biggest). The main difference is the weather and there are less seniors since many have already stepped onto their college campuses for their next stage of their life.

The Vegas Events are NOT an invite only camp. They are first come, first served. Long Snappers ranging from 8th grade – JC are allowed to attend.

This is the SUPER BOWL for Long Snappers. No other kicking event comes close to the exposure offered by the National Snapping Events. Rubio Long Snapping is, by far, the most credible recruiting source for Long Snappers in the country. The “TOP 12” and “EVENT ELITE” is the list to be on if you are seeking national exposure. From the Vegas Events, the Rubio Long Snapping Staff will select the “TOP 12” Seniors/JC & the “TOP 12” Underclassman (January) and “Event Elite” (May). Over 90% of the “TOP 12” have received full ride D1A scholarships in the past. Over 99% members of the “TOP 12” have gone on to play college football. In addition the “TOP 12” Underclassman will be invited to attend an exclusive summer camp to train and compete amongst that elite group.  The Competition Finals Round Winners (FG, Punt, and LS) will receive FREE Rubio Long Snapping Camps for 1 FULL YEAR. (Excludes transportation and Hotel). The Vegas Events offer the best exposure possible for Long Snappers. Rubio Long Snapping have personal relationships with over 100 D1A Universities and many more at other levels. This is your chance to get recognized on a national scale. Rubio Long Snapping work very closely with Scout.com, Rivals.com, Espn.com, etc. and have also been featured in Sports Illustrated, USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, Deadspin, etc.

TOP GUN groupFBU CAMPS

For the second year in a row, Rubio Long Snapping and Chris Sailer Kicking will be teaming up with FBU to run their specialists portions of their camps. FBU is the world’s largest football training service and has hired us to handle their Long Snapping section. It is an honor and we are proud to do it again. It is a top notch organization that benefits countless athletes across the country.

This year, Rubio Long Snapping will be running more camps in order to hit more areas around the country. To be able to do this, I will only be at certain locations. The locations in italics are camps that I will personally be at this spring and summer. Those not in italics, will have two senior Rubio Long Snapping instructors in attendance (staff members that have been with me for well over 30 camps). They will follow the same format as myself and report directly to FBU and yours truly.

We will be choosing the two Long Snappers that will participate in the US ARMY ALL-AMERICAN BOWL at the FBU TOP GUN CAMP in Ohio on July 16-18. Chris Sailer Kicking will also be selecting the East Bay Youth All-American for the Class of 2019 (Freshman All-American Bowl) and 2020 (8th Grade All-American Bowl) at the FBU TOP GUN CAMP in Ohio on July 16-18. You MUST be invited to the TOP GUN camp by performing well at one of the regional camps prior to the TOP GUN Camp. Bottom line, you will have to do well at one of the camps, that the Chris Sailer Kicking staff  is in attendance at, to pick up an invite from myself and/or one of my senior instructors.

You will need a code to register for an FBU camp, and since you are a Rubio Long Snapper, you will have it right now: CR15. Use this code to register now for an FBU camp as they will sell out.

Christian YountNFL FREE AGENT CAMP

  • March 3, CA

You (the specialists) asked for it, you got it. They (NFL coaches) asked for it, they got it. As you know, Chris Sailer and myself have always run the biggest and best exposure camps for high school Long Snappers and kickers. Now it is time for us to move completely into the NFL realm to give the needed exposure to our college athletes.

Chris Sailer and myself have been asked COUNTLESS times to run a free agent camp since it is something that has been lacking for quite some time in the world of specialists. It is now time. This one day camp will be a showcase for NFL coaches. There will be little coaching (you shouldn’t need a ton if you are at this camp) as this camp will all be about exposure. NFL coaches and personnel will be on hand to personally see the Long Snappers in action.

In order to attend this camp, you must be out of college and be eligible for the NFL draft.

You can register for the NFL Free Agent camp HERE (spots will be limited)

Rubio, Saban and SailerCOLLEGE CAMPS

Rubio Long Snapping will be in charge of several university led college camps across the country. These are camps that the universities put on and have us run. You will register through THEIR site. Here is the list, so far, as more will be added once the dates are finalized…

  • Alabama, June 6
  • Texas A&M, June 8
  • Oregon, June 13
  • UCLA, June 18
  • LSU, July 19
  • USC, TBD

TOP 12 & EVENT ELITE CAMP

This camp is open ONLY to those invited personally by Chris Rubio. You are chosen to attend this camp by performing extremely well at either the January or May National Snapping Events in Las Vegas. Do NOT sign up for this camp unless you have been formally invited by  Rubio. Former “TOP 12” and “EVENT ELITE” members includes countless college and NFL players, All-Americans, NFL Pro Bowlers and Super Bowl participants.

Top 12 and Event Elite - 2014Some Long Snapping “TOP 12” Alumni: Christian Yount (Cleveland Browns), Justin Drescher (New Orleans Saints), Aaron Brewer (Denver Broncos), Jon Weeks (Houston Texans) to name a few.

The “TOP 12” is chosen after the January Event (VEGAS XXV) and the “EVENT ELITE” is chosen after the spring Event (VEGAS XXVI). There are obviously 12 chosen for the “TOP 12” and there is no set number for the “EVENT ELITE”. Those that deserve it and are top of their class in May, get chosen…it could be one, it could be 20.

The success rate of those we have been selected in the past that go on to play college football (most on scholarship) is over 95%.

Invites go out after each Vegas Event.

  • June 15-17, CA

Underclassmen Invite Event - 2014UNDERCLASSMEN INVITE EVENT

You will almost think of this Event as a baby TOP 12 & EVENT ELITE Camp. This two day event is a camp that Rubio Long Snapping will be completely gearing towards the athletes and their parents/guardians. This camp is meant to not only get the athletes headed in the right direction in the beginning of their high school careers, but also the parents as well. It will provide information regarding nutrition, social media, recruiting, film, education and, of course, on field instruction. This event is just as much for the parents/guardians as it is the athletes!

College recruiting for Long Snappers is finally getting where it needs to be. Scholarships are being offered earlier and earlier each year. Early exposure is necessary these days. The Rubio Long Snapping Underclassmen “Invite Only” Event is the perfect opportunity to make a name for yourself and solidify your national ranking at the perfect time. The middle of the summer is now the time college coaches build their underclassmen lists. You want to be on that list. This camp will get you there. It is also your first opportunity to prove that you are a “TOP 12” candidate in your class. The camp is set for early July for a reason, college coaches asked us to do this. They want the inside track early. Don’t be surprised to see more and more underclassmen offered during the season in the near future.

There will be formal meetings/classroom sessions on individual topics such as: Training (what level is right for the underclassmen athlete, how often, proper techniques), Nutrition and Lifting (Good habits, bad habits), Social Media (Setting up and using the proper social media outlets – this has become a must), Filming (proper angles, techniques, times, set up), Education (the importance of it, standards, year by year plan)

Invites go out in May.

Don’t Be a “That Guy” on Social Media

Don’t be “that guy” who….

  • Leaves an open-ended post just waiting for someone to chime in. Confused? You have seen them, trust me, you have seen them. They go like this “Such a bad day, can’t believe that just happened….” For the love of all that is holy man, it is so obvious that you are looking for someone to ask you what happened and, honestly, it is a bit pathetic. If you have to profess your emotional needs on social media, you might need to focus on finding some good friends that you can talk to on a more personal level instead of shotgun blasting a question out that says more about you then you even know (or maybe you do, which is even worse).
  • Posts a #WCW (Women Crush Wednesday, for those not in the know) EVERY SINGLE WEEK. We get it, you have a girlfriend. We are proud of you. High five. If your lady friend needs you to continuously tell her that she is your crush, you must be the worst boyfriend in the world. I am hoping that you are showing her enough affection and attention that she can figure it out more than once a week, on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. What makes this even worse, is when you do it with every new girlfriend you have every other week.
  • Talks about your “GRIND.” We get it, you are working hard. So is everyone else and while you took the time out to “talk” about your “grind” your opponent was probably snapping another ball, lifting another weight, stretching another body part or studying some more film. Be silent about your “grind” and let your actions do the talking on the field.
  • Likes their own post. That is beyond sad. You obviously like your own post as you posted it. Come on!
  • Retweets something you find hilarious but others might find offensive. Remember, if you retweet or repost a moron, you are a moron.

Happy Ranksgiving to the 2017 Long Snappers from the TX Camp!

The rankings are completed for ALL 2017 Long Snappers that participated in the Rubio Long Snapping fall Camp in TX.

Long Snappers came in from PA, LA, NE, FL, KS, NV, CA, MD, OH, TN, OK, KY, AZ, MS and, of course, TX to learn from the best and get the most exposure possible for Long Snappers.

Next ranking opportunity will be at VEGAS XXV.

Pagel, Jake

Jake Pagel

The best 2017 Long Snapper at the camp was Jake Pagel. Pagel was very consistent all day. Don’t think I saw one bad snap from him in TX. Snap speed was solid and he needs to have a close kept on him.

. Pagel was smooth all day and one of the most consistent at the camp. Speed is good and he snaps a nice, accurate ball.

  • Jacob Rubenstein showed nice speed, good accuracy and excellent form. Definitely one to watch in 2015.
  • Jared Nugent is a strong Long Snapper that had very good explosion and a great attitude.
  • Chris Clore is a massive Long Snapper that is always improving. Good attitude and tons of upside.

Notables: Drew Wise, Jordan Silver, Reeves Blankenship, Caleb Cantrell,

KEY POINTS:

  • My rankings are NOT done just from The Rubio Target
  • My rankings are NOT done from some mathematical formula.
  • My rankings ARE done by me and only me. That is why they take a good amount of time. (Think of it this way, it takes MONTHS to build a Rolls Royce but only hours to build an average car)
  • My rankings are based off of this blog I wrote about what makes a Long Snapper great.
  • If you would like anything added to your profile page, simply email me (Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com) the information and consider it done.
  • All Long Snappers are ranked after their first fall camp of their freshman year in high school.

A Long Snapper has the ability to adjust their ranking anytime I see them LIVE, not on video.

For the rankings section, simply go to RubioLongSnapping.com  rollover PLAYER RANKINGS, rollover which CLASS you are looking for, click that CLASS, click LONG SNAPPERS and find your name.

Eatherly, Geron

Geron Eatherly

The best 2016 Long Snapper at the camp was Geron Eatherly. Geron was so solid he ended up winning the whole camp! He was snapping the ball all day in the .6s and with a lot of confidence. Definitely want to keep an eye on this kid at VEGAS XXV!

  • Koby Walsh looked very solid all day with his smooth snaps and great form. True student of Long Snapping that is very motivated.
  • Dylan Alexander had his best camp of his career. Always smiling and always improving. Tremendous form and a great attitude.
  • Alex Edwards had a great day in TX. Really snapping the ball well and jumped a ton in the rankings.
  • Evan Pohlman was throwing some severe heat all day and is one of the most athletic Long Snappers in his class.

Chris Rubio played high school football for Charter Oak High School in California from 1989-1992.  He was part of team that won the league championship in 1992 serving as the teams Long Snapper and left tackle.  He was voted Center of the Century in the San Gabriel Valley.  His long snapping ability earned him a spot on the UCLA football team where he was a 3-year starter at Long Snapper for three All-Americans.

The National Long Snapper of the Year is named in honor of Chris Rubio for his outstanding high school career and nearly single handedly changing the world of long snapping.  Chris is now the most prominent private long snapping coach in America.  He has made the position of long snapping a specialty and revered around the country through his website, as well as camps.  Through his training and development of young long snappers, dozens of high school long snapping specialists now receive full ride scholarships each year for their skill in that position.

ASK RUBIO – What foods do you love & hate AND Favorite Character on Rudolph

Dear Rubio…

What are some foods that you like and dislike?
-Curious in the Midwest

-Curious in the Midwest
Here are the ones I love….
– I am huge fan of pizza. Love it. I could eat it every single day, every meal, hot or cold. Love it. Best pizza I have ever had is Southway in Lewiston, ID. My standard is: stuffed crust, pepperoni, sausage, extra cheese, extra jalapenos, ranch and extra pizza sauce on the side.
– I am also a massive fan of desserts. The richer, the better. My favorite might be some sort of strawberry shortcake monstrosity Jolie makes that is in a tower jar thingy. I tend to black out eating it. It’s phenomenal.
– S’mores. Love them. Go to the Melting Point at some point in your life and get the S’Mores fondue chocolate thing. I have yet to have that and not burn my mouth on it cause I refuse to let it cool. So worth it.
Franks Red Hot Sauce. I tend to put it on anything. Try it on salads, you’re welcome.
– Bacon, duh. Best I have had is up at Coeur d’Alene Resort. It has some sort of maple party going on within it. It’s like a flavor explosion in your mouth.

Here are the ones I absolutely loathe….
– shredded anything. Disgusting. Who in the hell wants to floss while they eat? I’m out. Meat in a crock pot left so long that it starts to shred on it’s own is like Fear Factor to me. I would rather have dental surgery in a porta potty after a weekend chili cookoff than be forced to eat shredded anything. Was I clear enough:)
– olives. Gross. To me, eating an olive would be the same as chewing on a killer whale. Black, salty and rubbery. I’m out. Disgusting.
– mushrooms. Not sure, I just don’t like them…on anything.

Dear Rubio….

Who is your favorite character in the movie Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer and why?  My personal favorite is the Abominable Snowman aka The Bumble..a very misunderstood character, not unlike a Long Snapper.

2015 Rubio Long Snapper Writes a Book!

Over the summer, I was approached by Rubio Long Snapper Jackson Wilder (WA, 2015) and his father while I was in Seattle, WA about something they wanted to do “with” Rubio Long Snapping.

Turns out, Jackson was in the process of writing a book (yes, an actual book) on the life of a Rubio Long Snapper. I kinda thought they were kidding until they sent me some drafts and asked my approval. Many months and revisions later, I present to you….

Long Snapping: A Three Quarter Second Snapshot into the High School Life of a Rubio Long Snapper by Jackson Wilder available on Amazon!

The book is 120 pages long, written very well and describes Jackson’s journey throughout high school as a Rubio Long Snapper. He has some great sections on Vegas and the first time he met me for a lesson. Needless to say, a very interesting read and, given, it would make a solid Christmas gift.

You can even hear Chapter 5 of the book by clicking HERE and a full length interview with me and the Wilder family HERE.

Enjoy and congratulations to Jackson Wilder. What an amazing accomplishment by a senior in high school!

ASK RUBIO “I have been dating this girl for a year and….”

Dear Rubio….

I have been dating this girl for a year and I think I am done with it all. Big issue is she gets along with my family and they get along with her. Plus, she is really pretty. Any advice?
– Southern Long Snapper

Southern Long Snapper…

GET RID OF HER. She probably feels the same way you do so you’ll be doing both of you a favor. You will just be the brave one that actually steps up to the plate and does something about it. Plus, your parents have been there, done that and most likely can tell you two don’t like each other. Seriously, focus up… in case you forgot, they (your parents) were once teenagers as well. They know a tad more than you think. Odds are they know what you are thinking before the thought even starts to formulate in your head.

Listen, I have no problem with my Long Snappers having girlfriends but you have to really grasp the bottom line with these type of things. If you are done with the whole process, get out while you can. October through March is a real game changer in a relationship. You do not want to be with someone during that time unless you are really dedicated to them. Here is what I have been telling my Long Snappers for the last decade during this time of the year: If you are going to get out, get out now. You don’t want to have to fake it through a ton of holidays in the next couple of months. Think about it: Thanksgiving (filled with family time that you have to be at with her), Christmas (tons of time and you have to get her a gift), New Year’s Eve (the inevitable party with friends where odds are you would rather hang with your buddies) and, gulp, Valentine’s Day (always gotta be creative AND it will cost you some substantial coin). Be free and solo until around March. No major holidays for awhile then and if you want an out after awhile, you can always blame the summer time since you will be busy with camps.

ASK RUBIO

Starting tomorrow, I will begin an “ASK RUBIO” column within this blog.

It will be very similar to a Ann Landers or Dear Abby column you would see in your local paper or online. If you don’t know who they are, find a newspaper and look in it…or just click on the links:)

Bottom line, you ask me a question, any question, and I will answer it…..

BUT, I will do it my own way and in my own words (think Rubio turned up to level 10+).

These columns do NOT have to deal only with Long Snapping and, to be honest, I would prefer they not. Seriously, 99.9% of the Long Snapping questions you have can be EASILY answered on RubioLongSnapping.com or on RubiosBlog.com

So, feel free to pepper me with any questions you have on any topic you would like me to cover. This is open to all…grandparents, parents, Long Snappers, lady friends, etc. Just go ahead and send your question(s) to Rubio@RubioLongSnapping.com with the subject line: ASK RUBIO.

All names will remain private. Just sign it with a creative title (Northwest Long Snapper, Confused in Cali, Sir Snaps A Lot, etc.)

FYI: First one will come out tomorrow at 10:00 am pst and will deal with a Long Snapper and his girlfriend. Be ready….

Congratulations to him and his family!
